Was a good fun race till "mister teewat" came and spammed our race with Start race Polls  >:( Quitted so I could whisper in his earhole.

Besides, after Tchemi's mum phoned and told us to let him win cos he sulks for weeks there was not much point going on.  :P

Nice to see Yan  :)

A person joining the server while on track didn't have a ghost bike for me and was just a name going round! Weird!

Slow speed stability is better for some reason.

Some people joining still lagged the game.

The 125 crashes game for me but the 125 Cup, Varese and Mura are fine maybe I have to look into that.

Apart from that same old..

Thanks Peter lets do it again sometime  ;)

 ;D ;D ;D

You made my day !!

I didn't even won !!! I crashed in the first corner of last lap due to my worn out tyres (or someone who spilled oil in there) I finished 0.5 second behind Yan !
This kid is fast !!

Another week - another way to miss the race discovered.
While setting up B12/flicking off aids I've flicked off the help bit in the other menu(thinking it was for help bubbles  ::) ).

...so clueless on the grid after the warm-up lap.  :-[
....and another bloody DNS, to go with nearly every other race for the last few months.   ::)

Thanks for the event Peter. Haven't been involved in a race for ages, but it was fun. Concerning the chatting, I also find it annoying. I remember back in the days of our 500cc Varese championship we used to have an extra chat room open for the gibberish ones. That would prolly be a good idea. In-game we would only have server and race related chat, and if someone feels the urge to discuss certain things, he could use the chat.

Overall, I think the online stability is great atm. We used stock Victoria (so it is dynamic track surface if I am not mistaken), but we did not have a single core crash and also no noticeable lag for me. This is great in itself and those events are really fun now. If we could get rid of the annoying jump start DQ's, it would be very good I think.

On a related note: I noticed that many riders were not displayed for me, especially in the starting grid (I assume in an attempt to minimize data usage only the nearest bikes are displayed). Did you guys also notice that? Is my data connection the limiting factor here (I assume so)?

Hi Stout.
Have you got your "Bandwidth" setting in GPB set to "Very High"? Usually when riders don't see all competitors on the grid it's because they have forgot to set that bandwidth setting high enough.
Strangely enough I believe the default setting is still set at "Low" for some reason?  ::)
Title: Re: Beta 12 Testrace
Post by: Napalm Nick on September 04, 2017, 08:25:16 AM
I think the in-game settings option to turn off chat is an OK idea but would be better if it was 'turn off chat with the exception of server admin'.  :) that way you can still get the important stuff (like "rs!").

A heads up to the participants of tonight's race: I was doing a race simulation and I ran out of fuel three corners from the end of the 16th (last) lap. I wasn't doing anything silly so I guess we'll have to do a little of fuel management (I was full tank when I started).

EDIT: on second thought, I probably broke the engine. But that's another thing to keep into consideration!

It's really dificult to pop the R6
Title: Re: Beta 12 Testrace
Post by: Tommaso Levato on September 10, 2017, 05:46:50 PM
I had the R6 yeah, it suddenly turned off. But fuel is not a concern, I just checked more carefully and the consumption is 0.6 L per lap apparently.

Watch out for cumulative engine damage, hitting the red a lot before shifting eventually adds up to failure.

So I go through the entire practice, qualifying, multiple warm ups, and then get punted out of the race for no discernible reason when I am at least 10 feet behind the front of my slot? AYFKM?

Just a game bug. Also the Lag on the server was very bad which doesn't help anyone.

Nice race, congrats to Adalgood! I'm not sure who came in third, I got cored out as soon as I went to the pits after the checkered flag.

In general, online stability could be worse (and has been worse), but we're not quite there I'm afraid.

EDIT: where are my manners? Thanks a lot Peter!

Lag was bad in practice session, some core.exe there as well, but in qualifying and race it was much better.

I'm really not all that upset, just a bit disappointed that I didn't get any satisfaction. I did learn a lot and I had one hell of a good time during practice and qualifying. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you for arranging the race.
Title: Re: Beta 12 Testrace

I really enjoyed the practice and qualy, but then I got the dreaded start grid DSQ BUG just for going to track on the 1st and 2nd race restart, so I just stayed out of it so everyone else could get off the grid and race.
Really enjoyed watching the race.... Congrats to Adalgood for the win; Didn't have a chance to see who came 2nd and 3rd place as I got a core.exe crash as the race finished, but well done guys and everyone, especially PeterV(server admin) for doing such a great job here bringing these community races to us all.

But yeah there is obviously still work to be done regarding the online stability of GPB and certainly work to be done with the start grid sensitivity for any bike movement on the start grid... That is madness and very frustrating. Stability on the start grid is a lot worse in beta 12b than it was in beta 10 and 11... really does seriously, urgently need looking into because it's practically a race stopper for those who get DSQ's all the time from this BUG; very frustrating indeed.

I blew my engine at about 2/3rds distance.   :(

...but to be fair I was treating it like dirt and deserved it.   ;)

I should have upped the engine braking more in practice.  Had the slipper working a little too much and was making up for it by hammering down the gears harder than usual.
(or perhaps the cause and effect were the other way round - maybe I was just hammering down the gears because I could get away with it  ::) ).
Anyway - when it went I wasn't overly surprised.

Lesson learned to always check the forum on the run up to an event.  When H says "watch the accumulated damage factor" these days I tend to take notice.  Can barely move round here for dead Duc and Norton lumps.   :D

Other than that I quite enjoyed the race.   I was - as usual - dog slow but didn't get in anyone's way getting lapped and only had a couple of run-offs - both at the hairpin - both within a lap of each other and both because I'd got quicker out of the corner before hadn't yet adjusted my braking marker to suit.  Pretty standard first session mistakes that I didn't beat myself up too much over.

Have you used the LAA Utility on your GPB beta 12b "core.exe" file? This will give GPB the ability to address in 64bits which this track needs.  ;)

Select Core.exe

Check the Box to use more than 2gb of memory

Click save
