Title: Red Bull Rookies CUP
Post by: Arvoss on February 03, 2014, 08:49:20 PM
ROUND 7 - 25/05/2014 - Jerez

After pushing GP Bikes to its limits we found out that a race was possible with max 14 players. I never expected that much interest in a 125cc Rookies race! :D Now it's time for a Rookies championship! :D 8 rounds to choose the ultimate GP Bikes Rookie! :D There will be 2 classes in the championship. A and B.
The fastest lap on Victoria decides in which class you belong ;)

TEAMS
Hawk_UK came with the awesome idea to have a team points system too :D
How does it work?
2 riders/team. Choose a team partner from the riders that will participate and choose a team name.

The tracks

I am testing all the tracks to choose the smoothest tracks possible for the 125cc :D We will do 1 race every 2 weeks (sunday). That means that we will be doing +- 2 races a month so the championship will take +- 4 months :D

ROUND 2 - 09/03/2014 - Misano GP Direction

What about team points? Would be good to have a team championship alongside the riders championship. ;D

That would be nice BUT how many riders will there be per team? What if a team has 4 riders and another team 1 rider? I think that's a bit too difficult ATM :P

EDIT: Maybe it is possible :p Just 2 riders per team ;) 7 teams in total :D We will see :D

Yeah I realised that, but I initially thought that with so many riders wanting to take part in the first one that you were going to decide the participants, and classes, via a qualifying event, but no problems at all with doing it this way.  ;D 8)

The new Brno GP is very smooth makes riding the 500cc like riding the R6. Only thing it doesn't have track side cameras anymore.

There's a big difference between the being the fastest and being able to win a race..... Two different beasts altogether.... And from what I've seen, your pretty consistent on the 125 bikes ;)

Pressure starting to build yet, my old mate? Hehe ;D

I'm in, at least to try. Iam right close at the limit between classes meaning I'll be at the bottom of the timing list.

How about a twist on the rules to make things more interesting? The last 3-4 guys from A class go to B class and first 3-4 guys from B class go to A after every race.

This will not be possible I think. For example: you are 3rd on the leaderboard in the A class, next race the 3 fastest guys from the B class are coming and you can be 5th or 6th... The 2 classes are meant to make the races more intense ;)

No I dont think it would be like that. After the first race last guys in A would go to B and the other way around. In case those riders from B are very quick they would stay in A class after the second race. If not they go back in B class. The resault is really the best riders in A class, giving slower riders a chance to get better resault in B. Right now looking at records page there are far faster riders then me with slower times with 125 on victoria. So if they participate they will win races with bad competition in B server and someone like me will be last every time in A. Either of those isn't very fun.

I know what you mean but the B class will normally always be slower than the A class. There is still a lot of time to practice since the first race is in 2 weeks ;) I'll calculate tomorrow if it's possible to switch classes ;) Guys that are in the B class now can always try to go under 1.37.500 and they will go in the A class if there is still an open spot ;)

There will also be slow riders in class A compared to the fastest guys, so I cannot see your point, except that you would like to be in contention of winning? Don't we all. But it's the participation as much as the winning that counts. ;D

To be fair, you have to conclude the championship before you start to move riders from one class to another; remember there is a Team Championship to consider also.....

Just enjoy the racing.... I know I will, no matter who wins :P ;D

Indeed, just enjoy the races ;) And if you want to win: practice is the key. Remember that almost no one rides the 125cc and if they ride it's mostly on Victoria. ;)

Just curious why we aren't using the 125rr Cup bike? From my tests it's just 10-12 mph slower then the 125rr. The same paints work with either, I've tested it. What if instead of Rookies Cup it's just 125cc Championship and we use Team Paints. Rookies Cup we could use Red Bull Paints and the Cup version of the bike. Just a idea.

It's great that we have realistic weather for the races. Just one question... If it starts to rain while your on slicks, what's the procedure for entering pit lane to presumably be able to change to wets and then continue on to the race again? I've never done this before. Maybe we should do a few practice DRY going into wet races so that everyone will know what to do in the event of heavy rain? Otherwise I can see absolute chaos raining(Hehe) in such an event. :)

Update: Also it might be wise to make sure all planned track pits work as they should in the event of rain. ;)

Bring on the rain!! Yey!! Always wanted to have a race in the rain. ;D ;D

This scenario is not possible in GP Bikes I think. When you start the server it decides which weather it will be. For each track there is a different % chance of rain/cloudy/sun. Today we had rain on the practice server! :D

Don't know when you left :p After the rain we had a session without rain but 100% wet to test the dynamic drying ;) It's very slow with the 125cc.

What we can do for the races is look at the real weather in the city/location of the track and use that as weather in the race ;) That would be even more realistic :D

After a couple of testing laps it's not as bad as I thought. Just a bit tricky. Indeed, don't go full lean and go a bit slower ;)

I've tested it out too, and if you take a wide entry into that first corner and hit the corner just after the apex, you'll be okay. ;)

Hello!
There is the possibility of a fixed server for tournament?
I think it would be a very interesting option, as this could train each driver on the server to the hours he could. And many drivers would agree on the server
It also might be possible to use a TeamSpeak of GPBikes?
Sorry for my English, but I'm using the google translator

Me either, I didn't notice the bump that needed to be smoothed.

I don't think it was really bumps that needed sorting(as this was sorted out previously), it was the issue with the first corner with the 125cc bikes. If you took the normal line into it, you were almost guaranteed that the bike would slip away from you and crash. I think it is this issue that has been sorted out now. I think? Maybe someone who's tried it can verify? ;)

Hi Harry...

No. The server will be updated ASAP later today. The currently used tracks are available from the "Track Downloads" thread. Dibu and myself Co-Ordinate this thread which is updated as soon as dibu's online servers are updated(Give or take a few mins). ;)

It's read as a different track, so all my replays for it crash. If I put the non-smoothed Assen my replays work fine. I'm still confused about this bump, people are talking about.

I don't believe it was a bump... it was just a strange thing at that part of the track in the 1st corner that was causing 125cc bikes to crash. I think it is this what RBp has fixed. All the major corner bumps were smoothed out in a previous release not long ago.

The quicker we can get all track cameras sorted the better then, as I also like to save certain replays. :(

Ty Dibu.

@ Arvoss: Vracing is pulling back from the Red bull rookies cup.

We have a lot going on at the moment, Oldschool Practice, Cold Turkey practice, and not to mention we are trying to learn how to ride
in cockpitview and man we are a long way off  :-[ this will take some time.
Also coming from the bigger bikes we reallised that we dont like riding the 125 class. So 2 spots free for Group B.

* i will still help out on the server side no worries.

With this smoothed version of Assen NONE of my old Assen replays work anymore. GP Bikes will crash. If I put the old version of Assen back my replays work fine. So this new version needs to be renamed or something so we can have both. I have about 20 replays that will no longer work. If I ride the new Assen and make a replay that one will work.

So when are we going to know the final results of this poll? As I'm guessing there will be some who will drop out due to the final result, and it will take a little more time to fill the register again?

Time: Sunday 20.00h UK Time
Class: 125cc (normal bike)
Practice: 30 minutes
Quali: 15 minutes
Lenght: 50%
Weather: Realistic

btw Arvoss, I hope you are not planning to do 50% length in Assen as that means:
15 laps + sighting lap + warm um lap = 17 Laps in total
the bike can only take 13L and uses around 0.81 L/Lap ~ 16,04 Laps.
Start takes an extra toll on the milage so we propably won't even last 16 Laps.

Just saying  ;D

You'll have to be gentle with the throttle, use any slope you can find and hope for some wind in the right direction.

I guess we need a different engine for "eco-friendly" riding, this one wastes more fuel on idle rpms than the 990 under full throttle  ;D
Not to mention Assen is as flat as Keira Knightley, so no slopes either  :P

A poll? Whoever crosses the finish line first wins. And from what i`ve seen people are more concerned about hotlapping then staying on the bike for more then 3 laps. Setting a fast time is something completely different then racing and everything that comes with that.

I agree, I think a weird posting a poll on who will win. Tomorrow we will know.

Yes, I found it very frustrating, when I'm on a event practice server. I'm not very good at setup my bikes so I am trying to work on it. When someone keeps slowing down to "race" me during practice. I've had guys sit at the end of pit lane waiting. Or waiting on track till you get close. It's very annoying, I'm trying to set up my bike not have some mini race contest. :/

There's 4 guys not in a team in class B, is it possible Kiste/Malve/Rbp and sven98g could form two teams so you can compete in the Team Championships? Time is running out. ;)

They can look for a team member in the race lobby ;)
I need Kiste and sven their GUID, I sent them a message a couple of hours ago. Waiting for their number ;)

Hey, I would like to withdrawl from tonights race and the class a championship.

Unfortunately after hard practice this group is consistently 5 seconds faster than me on average on both victoria and assen. I'm not sure how I clocked a 1'36 on victoria but I can tell you it was a combination of the perfect lap, chasing someone from class a, getting heavy slip streams, and lots of luck  :o I generally run 1'39's.

I don't want to cause a wreck or be in the way in class a so I am respectfully withdrawling. Maybe next season! Thanks.

puh I feel honored some people think so highly of me but I have some high hopes for Alby, still haven't beat his record yet and to be honest I don't have to confidence myself to
ride a race without falling.

Especially on Assen, the track is very hard to ride on in oboard view, mistakes are almost bound to happen  ;D

Congrats to Ludo in Server A. After a close 1st lap battle with alby i fell, and made my way trough the pack to 3rd place again, chasing arvoss for 2nd. After a stupid mistake i regained myself and came close to arvoss again, but unfortunatly rain + curbs + 125cc isn`t really working, so i took it easy from there and secured 3rd spot. All in all not a bad race as i didn`t train for one lap this week, especially not in the rain :)

Tires are maybe going off?, and yes i was thinking that too if it does not show groove on track, it probably also wont show a drying line. (although it would be there i assume)

Just wet track for us. Practice and Qual, it rained. Yeah I know I lost my pace at the end but it got me thinking how the track wasn't drying that we could see so maybe I was hitting dry and wet spots and losing traction. A couple of the other fall in last lap were totally my fault. :)

new Assen is missing a line in its code which is showing the groove, or in this case dry line. I've seen it explained somewhere on the forum

I think before any events we need to make sure track have the groove/dry line layer. I don't want to go off in to the marbles I can't see and not no one why I just high sided.

i was standing perfectly on the grid, some people didnt!.. Peter V, restarted the race for nothing, got at the grid again, greenflag out for warm up lap, AND GOT FUCKING JUMP STARTED! then he didnt want to restart anymore?! a bad move from this admin. i was 2nd in qualify, so could have go for the championship.
thanks to him not anymore.

You lined up wrong buddy, it not possible to keep restarting or the race will never happen. It only a game.
i'm only here for a week, and already done with it.
:'(
Someone should make a tutorial on how to start a race. :P I feel sorry for the guys who jumpstart but we can't restart a race 10 times :/
I STARTED FREAKING RIGHT, AND THEN IT GOT RESTARTED.. got perfectly at the line, green flag went out. rode away. and got disqualified.!

I never saw a dry line appearing during the race. Is the same problem with the groove not showing? Was wondering my last two laps a couple falls not sure why.

Tires are maybe going off?, and yes i was thinking that too if it does not show groove on track, it probably also wont show a drying line. (although it would be there i assume)

Yeah I had same problem with some strange loss of traction on front end when hardly banked over and at relatively too slow a speed for that to happen. I think it may have something to do with the collision model for the track surface in certain corners? Might be worth an investigation because it's not just this track, others are far worse for this kind of surface behaviour. Only noticed this behaviour in wet conditions though, Rbp did a big improvement with the dry condition surface.

Oh well, these things can happen...... Best to give it half a second after flag drops or lights go green, and keep back in the white box to give you a buffer against any lag at start.... as Peter was saying to everyone, "The race isn't won in the first corner".  ;)

I think it's the rain, I have replays close to 2 hours long and they play fine. Yet rain one anything over a certain time it gives you 5 minutes.

Well just create a post in the Bugs section, provide the replay (uploaded somewhere, mega, dropbox or similar) and Piboso will have something to look at.
Try to state exactly the problem: eg only happens with/without rain, only happens online, whatever is applicable.

If we find bugs but we don't report them, there are little chances for them to be fixed :)

I know you guys started today but any chance I could throw myself down as a rider in this series to get me up and going? I got GP Bikes today because I saw it had the online racing going for it.

I think I qualify for the B grid which is full but I would happily be a reserve who fills in if someone isn't around any given week.

Team: Magenta WRT

Riders: Oscar Hardwick / To Be Confirmed

Cheers,

Welcome aboard. If you `ve gotten the game today i think it`s wise to practise for a week or so before entering a race. Staying on the bike is hard enough, and with 12 other loonatics out there it`s not the best enviroment to get used to the game and it`s physics. Get a feel for the tracks, the handling, the do`s and dont`s and have a couple of practise races under your belt before entering this championship. At least that`s my advice..but hey who am i ? :P

I agree JamoZ, it's why I didn't sign up before todays race. I wanted to get a feel for the bikes first and make sure I could stay on etc...

Still need to optimize my control settings but I am getting there and I should be good to go for the next round. I hope at any rate.

Guys, can we limit the size of the signatures a bit ? Half the current size(s) I see on this page would still be enough.

It's hard to read a thread when 50% of it's space is taken up by signatures.

Current classification
I think there is a problem with the names in the B group because some guys use a different name on the forum and in the game :/ Tell me if you don't see your name and tell me your name in the game ;) Tell me if you see a mistake in the points ;)

TEAMS
Try to find a team member (and team name) for the next races. It's not super important but it's just cool to have a team leaderboard too ;)

WOW! Class A: All top 8 within a second of each others fastest lap. If they were all consistent that would be one hell of a race to watch! ;D
This again proves that it is not the fastest rider that wins the race. Ludo did a great job staying on it with these tough conditions and that usually shows in the lap times being a bit lower than everybody that does a all or nothing race at some point.

@Arvoss: Thanks for salvaging some screenshots, always nice to see some pics afterwards

Is there any chance of this bug being fixed for the next race, or is it a major bug that will only be fixed, maybe, with the next beta release?

Easily fixed (sort of) only do dry races  ;)

If it's not a big bug to fix, I'd hope Piboso can take some time to fix it as a quick patch update or something. Real weather really adds to the unpredictability of the event and mixes things up very nicely. Otherwise we are just going to get riders who are fast in the dry and no wind conditions winning most of the time. We talk about smoothing tracks out too much, well in a way, having no weather at all for races is just as bad as having a track that has no undulations in it, don't you think?

But if this cannot be fixed for the next events, then it would be wiser to run them in the dry so we can see the replays, but just some wind(if you can) would help mix things up a bit. Hehe

Real Weather is GREAT!!! ;D ;D 8)

I agree with Hawk. Weather is part of GP racing.

I also agree people are getting to hung up on making tracks with glass surfaces. :/ Or if a bike falls just smooth it until no one falls anymore. I'm not saying we race on gravel, but tracks do have bumps, that's the fun part learning your racing bumps and all.

Just a note about the race on sunday: Are we going to have disqualifications for any rider who cuts the corners on sunday? I noticed it's very easy to gain a lot of lap time by cutting corners on the Enna Pergusa NC track(Really needs some invisible barriers putting up on those corners to stop it).

Guys, I just think we should keep the race genuine and between the lines for the actual race on sunday.  :P ;)
Title: Re: Red Bull Rookies CUP
Post by: JamoZ on March 07, 2014, 05:21:30 PM
Yes, anyone cutting the corners should be disqualified. That`s the main reason why i stopped playing this track online, because most people just flew trough the chicanes and didn`t even bother trying to take them normally. Even players which i thought were better then that....

I'm back from vacation, that's why I was inactive for a week ;)

ROUND 2 - 09/03/2014 - Enna Pergusa

You can still send me an updated skin if you want. :D

I'll take a look at the chicanes, didn't know you could cut them on this track.

I'll host a lobby this afternoon.

REF: Cutting Ena Pergusa NC Chicanes - Thanks for looking into this Arvoss. It maybe a good idea to switch tracks until Noss69 can update the track with some invisible barriers around the chicanes involved? Maybe switch it to the newly smoothed Silverstone Track? I'm going to give it a test on the 125cc bike to see if it's surface is okay for the 125 bikes now. Also it would be quite interesting, as this opportunity has raised, and as Klax has mentioned before in the forum, to have not been able to practice on the track until actual race weekend as it is in reality(In this case it would also be good in that know one would have known which tracks will be used for this weekend until today and therefore know one would have even been able to practice offline in test mode because we just wouldn't know which track was going to be used this weekend; just adds a little more realism to race weekends I think.  ;D 8)

This is just a suggestion to allow Noss69 to do an update on the Enna Pergusa Track before we use it later in the championships. It will save having to look through the whole replay(for every rider) to see if anyone was taking advantage of the chicane run-thru's.

I'll report back here concerning the 125cc bike and Silverstone.

Update: I've tried the Silverstone track on the 125cc bike and although there are a couple of corners you have to be a little careful on, I think it's quit rideable, but try it and see for yourselves.

PS: I've also PM'd Noss69 to see if he can update Enna Pergusa with some invisible barriers around the problem chicanes.

That was my Phantom League idea. Where during the week, three "test" tracks would rotate. Tuesday-Friday. The test tracks wouldn't be the race track for the event. Just a good selection of different types of tracks. So you can practice with others and work on setups. But until Saturday the track is not known. Right now the track is posted so far in advance everyone knows. Everyone has done several full fledged races on.  Where the Phantom League you get your event track on Saturday there is no voting it's strictly practice, you can't run a race with others. So there maybe a 4-6 hour practice window then the server is down. Sunday there would be a small practice 30 minutes to a hour. Then a qualifying, then the race. Then in a week or two the next event will happen with the same format. :)

I don't know exactly which are the chicanes involved (only did a few laps on Enna), but I'm not sure an invisible wall is a proper solution. Maybe higher curbs so that you can't easily jump on it ?
Or maybe checkpoints preventing cutting. It depends on the chicane layout.

You can even cut by riding through the grass :o

Could someone add checkpoints on this track?
If it's not possible before the race we'll have to take another track or DSQ the guys that cut the chicanes. ;)

Another track pls, tbh that track is pretty boring with 125cc, almost like Monza  ;D and the cutting ability makes it very dangerous for a race.

That's indeed a good idea, having 6 tracks in mind and tell on saturday which track we will race on sunday. But you'll still be able to host a 'practice race' on your own server, but that doesn't matter ;)

Desteban, the problem is that there are not a lot of tracks that are smooth enough for the 125cc... I'll try Silverstone now.

Maybe we'll race on Snetterton tomorrow, I'll see ;)

RACE 2 - 09/03/2014 Misano GP Direction

Since there are some problems on Enna I decided to change the calendar a bit. Tomorrow we will race on Misano GP Direction. It's the smoothest track of the 'smooth tracks'. It's wide, fast and a lot of places to overtake! :D

I hope someone will fix the Enna checkpoints soon :D (I would like to do it but I don't know how :P )

I am aware of this problem that creates confusion by those who do not know, but the track file names in the "Track Downloads" Mega database are exactly as the track author named the files. It would be silly of me to name them otherwise as it would currently activate the online server "Data Mismatch" error and that really would create confusion..... Track authors need to name their files correctly to save confusion.  :)

The Track Downloads Database is for the downloading of tracks used on Dibu's online servers only and therefore only has "Misano 02" as Misano 01 isn't currently on the server track list, but I will contact dibu and investigate this, as I may have made a mistake? I will report back here ASAP. Thanks guys. ;)

Hi Guys...

I do apologise to you guys. Having contacted dibu, I now realise that I have obviously deleted the Misano 01 track file from the database thinking it was an old version of Misano 02; my mistake, you were right Arvoss.  :-[

So, what I have done is to rename the Misano 01 zip file name to "Misano GP Direction" but, when you unzip that archive you must use the original track folder name of "Misano 01" for your track folder otherwise it will create data mismatch errors.

Thanks go to dibu for the solution to this problem and RBP/Arvoss for alerting me to this problem. Thanks guys... Appreciated as always. ;) ;D

i'll give a try but i'll come at home only at 18/18.30

You have the time :D I think you can create them after the race and they will work in the replay :D

Thanks Alby..... I don't know how long it takes to sort out a replay camera set-up but I hope you can manage it before the race tonight otherwise the race replay will be unwatchable. :(
Really appreciate you taking on this task at such short notice, I know you can only give it a try to make the deadline.

I'm sure we all really appreciate you doing this mate.  ;) :D 8)

As far as I remember, if you try to run an old replay file on a new camera file it won't work. Klax found that out to his dismay. :(

Enna Pergusa
RACE 2 - 09/03/2014 Misano GP Direction

Since there are some problems on Enna I decided to change the calendar a bit. Today we will race on Misano GP Direction. It's the smoothest track of the 'smooth tracks'. It's wide, fast and a lot of places to overtake! :D

I hope someone will fix the Enna checkpoints soon :D (I would like to do it but I don't know how :P )

This is a repost for the guys who haven't see that I changed the calendar ;)

hello,
What is the exactly problem on enna pergusa? I can solve it but i need to know what's it.

The problem is that riders can easily cut corners and get better lap times.

Two solutions have been suggested:

  • Move timing checkpoints to stop it
  • Create invisible barriers to block cutting corners

Personally I'd go for the second suggestion, because if you just move timing check points to avoid people cutting corners, then what if someone falls off their bike and skids through the corners and misses a checkpoint because of the checkpoint repositioning? Surely that would ruin their race even though they hadn't cut the corner?

The quick fix at short notice you did at least allowed us to be able to actually see the bikes going around the track, where as before, the replay cameras showed nothing of the bikes at all.

Though it still needs a new replay camera file creating as some of the shots are too far away; also the camera changeovers have a lot to be desired at some points on the track but some changeovers are great. Just needs a good replay TV and Spectator camera makeover really.  ;) :)

hello,
I sended a message to hawk uk wich coutains a lyt file. That's for enna pergusa. Tyres walls added for impossibility to cut some curves, you(rookies cup player) will need to add this little file to your Enna Pergusa folder. Perhaps i will need to modify it, i wait on report from hawk uk.
I will post a video on how to do .lyt file, that's a very easy eay to do, no skills needed, only tracked program.

ROUND 3 - 16/03/2014 - 20PM UK

This sunday we will be racing on Enna Pergusa, a fast track, similar to Monza. Some say it's a bit 'boring' but it's one of the smoothest tracks ;) I hope we will have exciting, close races! :D Weather will be set on clear 22° due the replay problems we have when it rains.

Note guys: This track does not replace the current online multiplayer version of Enna Pergusa NC that resides in the Track Downloads Database.
The download link above is for a special "one-off" version to be used only for 125cc races online.

I didn't want you guys getting data mismatches later after the race when you maybe want to go online with the Enna Pergusa NC track.

Apparently it is only possible to cut chicanes with 125cc bikes because of their relatively slow speeds. I have informed Januccaure that it is also possible to cut turns 10/11 with bigger bikes too, so maybe he will make an update for a final release version of the track at some stage. At this time he has just put up tyre barriers as a quick solution, I think for a final release he would want to make the solution fit in better aesthetically for the track than having somewhat unsightly tyre barriers for a solution. So at this time, Januccaure only wants us to use it for this or other 125cc races and not to replace the current version.

Second time this as happened to me at beginning of warm up lap then I get disqualified for what, I don't know.

Please could someone explain the crack with lining up in that little box highlighted in red.

I'll make a starting 'tutorial'. If the box = red you get jumpstart. Just make sure you see the arow and it should be fine ;)

Because of some inactive players last races and some personal projects I decided to delay today's race. It's a sort of a break. I'll send a message to all racers to make sure we have 10+ racers in next race (13/04). I'll add some wildcards too.
Sorry if you wanted to race tonight. Arvoss.

You should communicate these things earlier Arvoss, you must have know earlier that you wanted to delay this race date.
Now people have might been training there @#%$ off for nothing so to speak.

Thats my opinion not speakinfg for anyone else  ;D

I am fine, and I did train enough to beat to current WR...

On the other hand it is not like there was much activity on the servers anyway and no matter how much you did train you didn't do it in vain.
After all every lap you do helps you to improve youself.

I personally think that you should stick to the dates roistered, or at least let us know a few days before hand that you plan to not hold an event that has been roistered. I really don't think this does any good for future championships if your going to pick and choose dates just because some decide they don't want to race on certain dates only, or you decide you want a break. If you organise a championship then you take the responsibility to see it through and stick to the calendar as much as possible. In my opinion, even if only two riders turn up to race the event should still take place; it is the responsibility of the competitors to keep to the dates, it's not your responsibility, as organiser, to adjust dates to suit a few competitors. Besides I have not seen hardly anyone say they want to drop out of tonights race, have you?

Sorry Arvoss but that's my personal opinion on this. I'm a little pissed about it, but it's your event and obviously the ultimate decision is yours to make. :P :)

Motogp race is supposed to start at 21.00 GMT +1 and so is ours. Maybe we should shift the race to be an hour later?

Hawk_UK noticed a bug in the first corner. If you go too wide on the kerb you cut the track and you get a penalty. If you get a penalty there during a race, don't panic, I'll check the replay afterwards and remove any 'bug' penalties ;)  But of course, try to stay between the kerbs ;)

Jesus! Give us a chance to wind down before you stop the server after the race next time. Hehe..... You were a bit quick on the trigger tonight mate.... Did you miss something on TV or what? LOL

I enjoyed the race as usual, but it wasn't a good race for me.... My frame rates were down below 10 during the race and it's impossible to race while the screen is staggering it's tits off.

Oh well....hoping for better next time....

Thanks for the race guys!  ;) 8)

PS: @Arvoss: I'd rather race on a track we've already raced on that we know is good for the 125 bikes, than race on a different track that is bad for the sake of having a different track than we've had before.  ;) :)

Did the server crash or End? I never got a warning the race was over and it was ending. I was on going along then it just stopped.

Good race all.

My race was horrible I kept falling off, it seemed like any time I touched the brake the front would go down. :/ No clue why, I've run countless laps on that track and never fallen this much. Oh well, just unlucky.

I don't get it either, usually in Rookies Cup, I have no delay at all. The timing is instant. It's so random when it happens.

Well.... I got an early bath tonight.... Cored exe'd twice while waiting on the grid to start the warm up lap both times. Second time was just when the green flag for the warm up lap dropped.

Arvoss was kind enough to restart the race after my first core, but after the second I told the guys to carry on otherwise it wouldn't have been fair to keep restarting because I'd already cored twice(unusual for me to core at all).

Hope you have a good race guys.... especially my team mate Klax.  ;D

Wow wow wow, what a race. First of all, I felt sorry for hawk and BoZoCro :(
The race was one of my best races ever. The first 6 laps were super close between 4 guys and everyone was concentrating super hard to not fall. Until iVo crashed in the nasty corner and I cashed 1 lap later in the 2nd corner. I think kerazo crashed also to give the victory to LOOPATELI, who did a perfect race I think. GG guys! :D

I can't wait to check the replay!

Sighting and warmup lap is what makes this game epic :P Do you want to turn off only the sighting lap? Only warm up lap would be ok too for me. I'll check your replay tomorrow to see if i see something strange.

A1ring is a good choice. It looks very funny and is quite smooth (1 or 2 problematic corners for 125, as in every track)

LezennesV2 is perfect for the 125. Fast track, technical & supersmooth. I understand everyone wants to ride the cool and flashy motogp tracks, but reality is that 90% of them suck donkey balls for the 125.

Really liked Brno in terms of the track width. Accidents just happen less when the track is very wide, and since the 125 are so much closer to each other I would prefer a wide track for a good race.

Monza would be the ideal track for a 125 race if you ask me with the wide track and a chance to catch up on the straights. I think the one tricky corner (Lesmo 2) has been fixed somewhat so all the ingredients for the most epic race are there  ;D 8)

I think we can all agree that we want epic battles lasting all the way to the end of the race and an easy track is needed to facilitate that. So some will probably complain monza is a bit boring on the 125, but once we are constantly overtaking on the straits I'll guess it can be pretty intens
Title: Re: Red Bull Rookies CUP

Monza is indeed boring but this could be an epic race! :D
That difficult corner is now smooth enough for the 125cc, but on every track there is at least 1 nasty corner.

As you said, a wide track is needed for close battles and to avoid crashes.

Next race will be on Monza ;) Even if you're 2-3 seconds slower (Quali times) you can still finish first in the race because of the (overpowered) slipstream.

The only disadvantage is that if you fall, your race is over. But that's just like in real life. ;)

I'll put a server up today :D

Well there are a few corners that are a little dodgy for the 125cc bike, but yes, the first corner in particular, but I would resurface all chicanes and the two approx. 90 deg bends that were previously smoothed; all those are a little dodgy in places depending on your line through them.  :)

I've PM'd Janu. I hope he can help. Thanks Arvoss.  :)

I PM'd Janu yesterday, but he hasn't got back to me yet.... So sorry guys, we'll just have to make do.

It would be a great idea if all track authors would send me the source files for all tracks so that I can put them into the Source Track File Database which is part of the Track Downloads Database. That way if any improvements need doing to a track then anyone capable of doing them can inform the community of their intentions and then just download the required track source files and sort out the problem. :)

Usually Arvoss anwsers these questions within a few minutes but it seems like he is finally busy with real world stuff  :P ;D. Yes i guess it is no problem if you join some RBR races. We usually have some room for wildcards since not everybody is able to participate every race.
The way I see it is that the basic requirements are:
- that you have at least practiced the track a little before the event so that you are familiar with the corners and brake marks. It is not important how fast you are or how often you fall, it is the fun of participating that counts.
- do a practice race with a warm-up lap and where you have to drive to the grid position yourself. It is not fun participating in all the session and that be disqualified because you don't know how to start a race.

Thats basically it, guess you have to wait for Arvoss to put you on the list.
---------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if I am able to participate in the next race on Sunday. I currently got a 7 days a week working schedule (due to my master thesis) and usually playing GPbikes on sunday after comming back from work is a bit too much. Therefor I might just skip this one depending on how I feel by then.

Good race everyone! I didn't do very well, had a bad start off the line and felt like I was standing still. lol I did get micro lag and was right as the lights went green kind of messed me up since I was worried about stalling the bike. lol Was a good event spent most of it alone enjoying the scenario of Spain. ;)

I realized on Arvoss servers I've never had a out of sync problem even with 13-15 riders on track. He did restart the server so that may have help. My out of sync always are so random it's weird.

I only core'd once. Was after Qualifying, right before the first sighting lap I went to check my set of tires, then went to go to track and core'd.

I only suffered from micro lag in my brain a few times, Piboso really needs to fix that since it keeps on f*cking up my races  :P ;D

Hm... That's a lot of work. Because finding good clips/battles is very very time consuming. I'll see what I can do. ;) After the 17th of June I have plenty of time lol

PiBoSo released a new Beta, and online is not working or not very good. So next race will be next week. So you can get used to the new physics... I had to remove everything before installing the new Beta... :/ The 1000cc feels a bit weird, I hope the 125cc physics are the same as Beta4...

+1  ;)

I haven't tested the 125cc bike yet, but on the 500 bike the front end is definitely very nervous in slow corners(worse than it was in beta 4b), and from what I've read on the forum that extends to all the other bikes too. Hopefully we'll get a quick hotfix patch to sort this out if possible?

I've tested it.
its gonna be imposible to race next week guys, is IMPOSIBLE to ride this bike
the front is shaking all the time like with 990 but x1000.
if you have time test it, only 1 lap is needed to se we can not race

Just been testing the 125 around Snetterton for this Sundays race: I personally think the 125 is running well enough on beta5b to finish this last race. It's certainly no worse than a lot of the other tracks we've raced on in beta4b, that's for sure.

The one thing that does need sorting out is the replay camera for the Snetterton circuit. The current one is terrible. So if someone would be kind enough to create a new replay camera set ready for this Sunday, I'm sure we'd all appreciate your help.  ;)

@Arvoss: Also is there any chance of putting the weather on realistic setting for this one? I believe the wet replay problem has been sorted out in beta 5b? ;D 8)

2nd corner and last one are horrid now on beta5b with the 125cc,  I've made these better but I might have it finished in time for the race, I've wasted a lot of time trying to animation to work again with no success

Hi RBp.

I agree those corners are bad, but the second corner is okay if you take a different line, and the last corner is okay is you take it steady. I know when we're racing we like to be able to take the corners at race speeds, but until the physics are properly sorted, we'll just have to put up with these problems.

However. Having said the above, if you can improve those corners in time for the race, that would be great mate! Appreciate you trying to sort these problems out in time. Thank you RBp. ;D 8)

What I do when hosting my server is I go here http://www.myweather2.com/motor-racing.aspx (http://www.myweather2.com/motor-racing.aspx) and get the weather for the real track. I put it in what race time would be 12-2 pm. You can set the weather so it shows the wind to what GP Bikes. GP Bikes uses Metre's Per Second for wind speed.

I agree, beta 5/b hasn't been kind to track authors, and having worked so hard on some tracks to try and stop those slow speed low sides it is a little soul destroying to now be back to square one again because of the even greater unstable front end now than was in beta4b.  :(.
But I guess to be honest until the physics engine is finalized, it's just something we are going to have to live with, hugely frustrating as it is.  ::)

Whitham said it wasn't worth trying to fix tracks until stable physic had been release, but me being me  spent the last 6 months smoothing a lot of tracks cos the game was unplayable at the time. I don't really wont to try any of them at the moment just in case there crap again.

I don't think I'll be able to make it. :/ I'll try my best. Plans we had for Saturday got switched to Sunday. Since I am in the U.S. the races are around 2-3 pm fore me.

Here is a new camera file for Snetterton. I reworked it some and made the cameras have zoom function. You will need to bike camera file updated to get the zoom to work if you haven't already.

Hope the race went well.

I got out of sync. Then after the several restarts of the server on the sighting lap the numbers were all negative. -2:-30, etc. I tried getting on the grid, and it should be on the grid. Then the race would just start and I was off the grid. The numbers weren't counting down to anything that made sense, the start lights were all red and stayed that way.

Anyway hope everyone had a good race.

REPLAY + RESULTS: http://we.tl/NfQ7rdoFcs

8 races, 8 Sundays we had fun in this championship. I want to thank everyone that participated in the races. Thank you for your patience and for the great battles we had!

Now this championship is over. Finally? Maybe it was not the best idea to organize a championship in a unfinished game. I certainly had fun, but some of the riders had bad luck. Cores, delays, more cores, more delays, lag,...

Now I'll take a step back, just like Peter and JamoZ. I don't get a lot of cores but it just sucks that you start a race with 4 riders less because of delays and cores... And I played this game too much so I need a break.

I'm looking forward to MX Bikes and GP Bikes V1 ;)

Like RBp, I'm glad it's all over. In my case because of all the problems inherent at this development stage with GPB, especially for online racing. But can't wait for the time when GBP V 1.0 has been released when all these bugs will have been sorted out, then it will be an absolute pleasure racing online!  ;D ;D 8)
But at the moment it's like experiencing all the great things in GBP and seeing the huge potential that is there but it's always just out of reach because of it's current problems. Sad, but it is a beta(I keep having to remind myself of that at times), so hopefully Piboso can get things sorted at some stage. Just wish certain problems would be prioritised better.  ;)

A SPECIAL thank you to Arvoss for organising and running these champs. Well done mate and very much appreciated!!  ;) ;D 8)

Also a BIG thank you to all the fellow riders who participated, it's been great fun(though frustrating at times), and especially those who stuck with it and didn't drop out all together, I think that it is important to finish something you start no matter how tough things get.  ;)

Hawk.

Hi Arvoss.

So who won the Class A/B Champs and also the respective Team Champs? It would be great to finally publish the final results and winners to complete the series.  :P ;D

Oh.... I nearly forgot..... What's the winners prize? Hehe.  ;D :P
