By the description you mentioned about problems lining up the seams, it sounds like the UV's haven't quite been unwrapped properly and your having to deal with some distortion of the UV's at the seams?

Not quite, the UVs are fine, it's just that the patches and various parts of the pattern run across splits in the UV, it's not a unwrapping issue, it's just me getting used to the UV layout and that fact that when Lookwell designed the leathers they didn't make it easy for me! 

Anyway, the Martini ones are proving to be even more of a challenge, they have a lovely complex striped pattern that is really something to get right, but, the thing is, it's a great feeling when it all lines up nicely, so I'm not too fussed, there isn't anything anyone could do to make it easier really, but thanks for asking.

After a whole bunch of work I finally got the Mike Hailwood Lookwells where I want them to be, it was a bitch trying to get some of the seaming to line up and to actually look decent, but I think I got there in the end.

I hope fans will get a kick out of this, I will follow up with a modern version with a few changes soon, but next on the list are the Martini Leathers!

I think I'll start on a Mike Hailwood, my parents knew him pretty well, they worked just round the corner from his and Rod Gould's place in Birmingham.  It'd be quite nice to do Lawson, Doohan and Gardner too, a nice progression through the years, or at least decent approximations of each major era they had, I'll see what I can find in the way of materials, It'd be really nice if we could model some nice classic bikes, maybe get a retro race series going for the Fogeys amongst us.  Some of the late 70s and 80s era stuff looked amazing.

I rather like the old Bell helmets from the 70s, these I think were from around 76, but they were super popular.



With them clip on Visors....

I've been working on setting up templates for the Legends skins so I can easily change blocks of colours and add/remove seams for various things and just getting used to them, I want to know what kind of things people want from Legends leathers, specific riders or just vintage looking generic designs?

I'd love to know what kind of things people would want, I don't want to spend my time making things no one even really wants to use so I'm open to what people want.

Looking forward to hearing what people want to see.

Kevin Schwantz 1993 Dianese era, re worked to fit the Modern leathers model.

I've contacted Snappe about it, so hopefully sometime soon we will get the proper template required to do this; depends how busy he is right now I guess.

For sure dude, I'm not here to cause anyone stress, just having fun making some skins, I've got a Lucky Strike Schwantz set in the works, the Dianese Era, should be ready in the next day or so too.

It looks like the Legends suit is a problem for now - sure I could make a paint with no shading but it would just feel weird to not have it looking right, so I'll hold off until the time comes when the templates get released and I can get to work at moving all the paints across, if the templates are laid out the same, which they should be,  it should be easy, if not then I'll have a bit of work to do, but either way You will at some point get your Sheene leathers.

Specular, Normal and Reflect maps they are included in the model.

That's what I thought, so I'll probably hold off until we can get our hands on those, I don't think I've been part of the community for long enough to start making damands! so I'll please myself with whats available for now, there is plenty to be getting on with.

Thanks for the information though, sometimes it's good to know that the thing you need isn't available so you don't have to waste time looking for it.

I hadn't seen that thread actually, I've just added my two penneth now though, it might work to use the Modern suit template but it would be better if we had the actual template for the legends suit, of course.

With using the Modern suit template without the shading from the original Legends suit, won't that cause a bit of weirdness with the specular map not lining up and causing a sort of ghosting effect?

I looked really carefully at both of the suits and the creasing and leather seams are totally different.

Anyway, it's good to know that at least I can get on with some Legends suits by using the Modern template, thanks!

Thanks, I tried that as one of the first things but it has the Modern rider and Default Helmet template and not the Legends template in there.  I assumed it would have been included, I even checked within the PSD just incase the layers included the shading for the Legends suit but it doesn't either.

The problem I have with the Legends suit now is that I can simply wrap it in a paint, but the specular map wont match the seams and creases on the shading for the modern suit, so it will just look really odd, I can't seem to find a template for the Legends suit anywhere too, and there are currently no Legends paints in Matty's and the default rider templates don't include the Legends suit either, which is a bit of a bummer, I'll do some testing later on ans see how things look, maybe there is someone who might know how to export the default legends suit paint?

I'm sure we'll figure something out.
