Tracks / TrackED: Generate Surface.....
November 14, 2014, 09:21:11 PM
Is there any way to delete a "Generated Surface"(Dynamic Surface) from a .trp file once it has already been saved in "TrackED"?

Tracks / Track registration for Stats......
November 11, 2014, 08:55:57 AM
Hi Guys.

Thanks to Piboso for clearing the track stats database so we can re-register the tracks and get the stats working for all tracks.  ;)

I will now re-register all the current tracks in the Track Downloads Database and finish this job as soon as I can(Hopefully within the next few days)

Hawk.

PS: I've already noticed that "Paul Ricard Legend", and "Victoria" have already been registered.  :)

Hi guys.

I've just modelled a helmet model in Maya and exported it with the EDF exporter from 3ds Max.

I used the current beta 6c default rider helmet files as a base file and folder to work from.

I exported my helmet mesh to replace the "helmet.edf" file.

I changed the "default.CFG" filename to the name of my helmet, and the name in the CFG file to show the name of my helmet in the GPBike Helmet Menu(Which it does).

I changed the GFX file data: Model = "helmet.edf" instead of: Model = "helmet.hrc".

Now when I run GPbikes and test it out on the rider model, I cannot see any helmet on the rider, it just shows the rider face....

I have a feeling that the helmet model is showing so big on screen that it can't be seen? How big in centimeters does the helmet model need scaling to?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.  ;)

Hi Guys.....

Just wondering if it is possible without causing a data-mismatch to alter the engine sound volume of all other bikes other than the bikes you use in an attempt to lessen(not fix) the engine sound drown-out problem when you have many bikes around you(especially off the start line)??
I know that it won't work if you have everyone else on the same bike, but many riders are now using a variety of bikes in races and this work around would definitely lessen the impact of other bike engines cancelling out your own engine rev sounds.

This is suggested just a temp work-around until if at all Piboso(as we don't know if he even likes the idea of implementing an ambient noise volume slider to sort this out) sorts the engine sound drown-out problems out.  ;)

My next question is: What line of code do I change in the engine sound file to alter the volume of a bikes engine noise?  :)

Racing / Team Race Events???
October 19, 2014, 10:55:50 AM
F.A.O: Race promoters:

Just a thought really...... But is there any plans on putting together some team/rider race events that rely on the team working together to gain as many points as possible to win a championship for team and rider?

At the moment we who are part of a team have no events that make use of being in a team, and I just thought it would be great if there were some team/rider championships so the teams could gain some benefit and enjoyment from that.  This would also encourage more riders to form teams too, which would be great! ;D 8)

Hi Piboso.

Can we please have the procedure/modding capablility for the bike rider so we can produce our own rider figures and animations, and also to be able to use animation file formats that are inherent in 3d apps like Maya and 3ds max please.

Thanks Piboso

Hawk.

PS: It would be great also if the rider figure could have the ragdoll mode capable too.  ;D

Support / Data mismatches on online servers..
September 03, 2014, 06:39:39 PM
Hi Guys.

Anyone else having problems connecting to the online servers tonight?

Me and Klax are getting "Data Mismatches" all over, even using the default bikes.

Has anyone any suggestions?

We have Bike MOD 2.05 installed and latest track versions. But it's even "Data Mismatching" on Victoria which is very strange.

Hi Piboso.

I've just tried to delete a generated dynamic track surface but seem unable to accomplish this task. Is there a way to do this, or once created cannot delete the generated track surface without original .trp file without generated surface to overwrite on save?

Would be great to have a "delete generated surface" function in "TrackED" if this cannot be currently done.  ;) :)

I've noticed from the stats page, that either most riders are riding only on a very few tracks, or, most riders are riding on Bike MODS? I would suggest that most are riding MOD Bikes.

Therefore would it be possible to include stat records for all the MOD Bikes too, as and when the final Bike MOD versions are released(Maybe a registration system similar/same as track registrations)? Or is this something that cannot be done for some reason?

Mods / FBX2EDF Exporter fix?
June 27, 2014, 02:53:58 PM

Hi Piboso.

Just wondering if there is going to be a fix for the FBX2EDF exporter anytime soon? It really is a pain when working with any other application besides 3ds max to get things exported to GPB.

Please fix it for us Piboso.  ;)

Hawk.

PS: would be great if we could have it compatible up to the latest version of FBX 2015.  ;D 8)

Tracks / New Track Release - Mallory Park 1978 V1.1
June 17, 2014, 11:33:33 PM
Hi Guys.

Here is the download link for "Mallory Park 1978 V1.1": ] https://mega.co.nz/#F!eNVSADpZ!a6u3dBMlFT8zw5x7K68eVg

If you find any flaws or anything that needs adjusting then please let me know here.

Also please let me know if you get any core.exe crashes and where on track you got them so I can have a good look to see if there is any artefacts in the track/terrain mesh that would cause the problem. I can then put them right. Thank you.

Enjoy! ;D 8)

Update: Saturday 14th June 2014 @ 00:36 hrs

Hi Guys.

There has been a discussion on the forum recently about the tyre/track grip characteristics, particularly for the 500cc GP 2 stroke bikes; that the 500cc GP 2 stroke bikes should be able to rear wheel power steer around the corners using the power of the engine through good throttle control. I have to say that I totally agree with this issue. I say this because surely if your cornering at max lean and fully open the throttle on one of these 2 stroke beasts the back end should easily spin around on you? At this moment and stage of GP Bike development this does not happen - Maybe someone with some real 500cc 2 stroke race bike experience can actually fill us in with the reality of this subject, but having seen and heard riders talk about it, my personal conclusion is that you have to have good throttle control and feed the throttle through the corner until you get a balance between spinning out and driving that rear wheel around the corners. This is just my reasoning and deduction from what I've heard riders talk about this subject.

Anyway... You guys know I like to test and experiment with GP Bikes, so yes, you guessed it, I have been experimenting with tuning the grip of the Varase 500cc GP 2 stroke bikes tyres to just see if we can get some semblance of being able to control the rear wheel spin while cornering just with throttle control only.
It has been very difficult to get a setting on the tyre grip that is kind of getting there, but I finally think we have a setting that isn't perfect, but is starting to show signs of those grip characteristics people have been discussing here on the forum.

Installation advice/notes: Please make sure you make a backup copy of the default Varase 500 bike your currently using and put it on your desktop or in another folder somewhere safe so that when you have finished with this test and want to go back to the original bike it is then easily copied back into the bikes folder of GP Bikes.

Tyre Grip Characteristics Altered : I've only altered the soft tyre grip characteristics, so make sure your on the soft tyres.

My test conditions: I've only tested it on the "Mallory Park 1978" track so I really don't know if the performance will be greatly different on other circuits. You can download the current(WIP) Pre Release version of the  "Mallory Park 1978" Circuit here: http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=958.0

Online use: You cannot use this bike online as this files tyre physics have been altered and you would just get a "Data Mismatch" Error when trying to connect, so this test is a purely offline test.

Here is the download link for the Varase 500cc GP bike with the altered tyre grip characteristics: https://mega.co.nz/#!yIUhXKJY!UL_n9tZxoX11ni15Tq0DG6gTAB_KOgJj8Y5L9Io2Ijk
Give it a try and let me have your feedback here, good or bad, I don't care as all feedback is useful.  :P ;D
All I ask is that you try and stick to the subject and not be biased by modern MotoGP bike performance as this is strictly a test to just try and get some performance characteristics of the old classic 500cc GP bikes, in particular,  from the 1970'/80's so please don't judge this on what you feel modern MotoGP bikes are like.  ;)

Have fun! ;D 8)

General Discussion / Does the forum search work?
May 26, 2014, 11:32:02 AM
I've been trying to search for a post I remember about the EDF2FBX exporter but each time I try to search for it it is not showing any search results at all.

So my question is: "Does the search function on the GP Bikes Forum work?"

Tracks / TrackED Questions.......
May 04, 2014, 02:29:33 PM
Hi guys.

Creating the Centre Line:
I'm having a problem with the "Straight" segment when creating the centre line.

What I want to know is how you can adjust the centre line straight lead segment laterally while creating the centre line?
When I put the first straight segment in I can move it laterally to line it up with the centre of the straight, but when I try to include a straight segment after that 1st one it won't move laterally to line it up with the centre of the track?? Just wondering if it's a bug or whether there is a way to get it to move laterally while creating the centre line?
I usually end up having to create 90% of the centre line with curve segments.

I've included a picture below so you can see what is happening:

Tracks / WIP - Dijon "Turn #4" Surface Rebuild Test.
April 29, 2014, 04:58:29 PM
Hi guys.

I'm doing a test track surface rebuild on turn #4 of the Dijon circuit.
This turn is giving riders some problems and we don't know if it's the track surface at fault or the physics, so we are just going to see if we can sort this out. Progress will be posted here. Thanks. ;)

Suggestions and wishlist / Real Weather option?
April 27, 2014, 01:37:34 PM
Hi guys.

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be great to have real weather data as an option to auto-update every 2 hrs or even via a weather update button on the UI interface, would be great for race events as soon as Piboso has applied a fix for the corrupt replays from weather held race events.  ;D 8)

Real weather would make races SO much more involved and interesting with the wind and rain, not to mention the heat factor too!  ;D

Tracks / WIP - Brno Track surface Rebuild.....
April 26, 2014, 02:57:24 PM
Hi Guys.
Following the success of the "Mallory Park" track surface rebuild, subsequently named "Mallory Park 1978", and also because of subsequent requests to rebuild the "Brno GP" track surface, I've decided to go ahead and start the rebuild of that track surface.

I'll post here with the progress. In the meantime if you have any comments or questions then please post them here in this thread or PM me. Thank you. ;)

Hi Guys.
If you want me to rebuild the Brno track surface then I need a copy of the Brno source files..... I've asked members I thought might have access to it, but they haven't got copies of the source to send me.

So. Thought I'd post here as a call to anyone who has access to a Brno track source file to contact me with a download link so I can work on rebuilding the track surface for us. :)

Hi Guys.

Updated on Wednesday 18th June 2014:

Mallory Park 1978 V1.1 is now released and available to use online. You can therefore now obtain this track from the "Track Downloads" Database here: http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=45.0

Thank you for all your support and comments while working on this great little track. I hope this thread will continue to be of use to those that wish to alter or create a track of their own. Thank you. ;) ;D 8)

I've been talking about track topology and why I think bad topology has a lot to do with why bikes react in a weird way sometimes, particularly in chicanes and corners when bikes seem to fall over for no good reason.

Well I thought I would test my theory and rebuild a track surface to see if this would improve the bike handling on track. So I decided to rebuild the "Mallory Park" track surface this afternoon.

Below I have posted some photo's, of before and after, to demonstrate the difference in track surface topology(Ignore the original topology of the rest of the track surroundings, it's all terrible, but I only wanted to test the track surface itself. :)

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I've still got some cleaning up to do, and then I've got to start the GP BIkes integration process..... Would love some help to integrate this track so we can test it..... So if you can help then let me know, and then as soon as I've finished cleaning it up I'll send it to you for integration, otherwise I'm going to have to work it all out for myself and that will take longer... Much longer. Hehe ;D

Either PM me, or post here if you can help me integrate this test track into GP Bikes. Thanks. ;)
