BTW, I really really doubt X10 simulates properly the fluid dynamics of an airplane: research code I've  seen running on very powerful computers was far from being realtime :) Sounds like a bit of marketing-speech from Xplanes.

Xplane actually does break down the model planes into segments for the calculation of airflow over the those segments; Now I understand what your talking about, but xplane does not do the calculations on a very very high level of model segments like they do in the science community because obviously we are only talking about the power of a PC here. :) But Yes Xplane does do fluid dynamic calc's for airflow across the 3D models in the simulation.

As far as parts of the 3D model in GP Bikes being linked to physics; no part of the actual model will be linked other than for animation purposes and showing you results of the physics calculations going on in the background in real time. ect, etc. But that's got nothing to do with calculating the physics... In fact You could model a brick and run it in GP Bikes and it would perform as the bike was intended according to the physics calculations. Of course that is going to the extreme. LOL ;D

Sorry, im in a bit of a rush, so I hope I explained this properly? I'll catch ya later to explain more detail if you need  :)

Bug Reports / Re: Close Quarter Engine Sound Drowning

not really, racing bikes are really loud you know

I used to race bikes, and the fact remains that the dominant sound while riding is your own engine rev noise with other subtle noises in the background. You can hear other bikes when they are within close proximity with you(but they don't drown out your engine noise/revs), but I cannot remember hearing bike engines from other side of the circuit. LOL

But... Do the bike model influences the overall performance of the bike?
I would think/hope that no, the 3d model geometry is independent from the physical parameters of the bike, so that it should be possible to have a bike with 2m wheelbase visually, but only 1.4m in the physics. Can anybody confim ?

MaX.

The 3D Geometry will be totally independent from the physics algorithms that define how the bike handles/accelerates etc, etc.
For the 3D model to effect performance would require a fluids dynamics simulation for air flow simulation. It's the difference between Xplane 10 and Microsoft Flight Simulator(XPlane is a fluid dynamic flight simulatior and Microsoft Flight Sim is calculated via fixed physics factors used to calculate performance.).

Bug Reports / Close Quarter Engine Sound Drowning
December 19, 2013, 11:11:37 PM
Hi PiBoSo.

I'm sure your aware of this problem - The sound of the bikes engine rev's is totally drowned out by any other bike that is racing in close proximity to you. This is particularly bad with the 500cc bikes. It's making it almost impossible to seriously compete in any races.

Any chance of a quick fix for this problem? Soon as possible, Pleeeassee..... ;D

That's a great idea, Max!  ;)

That AMAZING!! The two are very much in synch.... Just shows how good GP Bikes really is!

Nice one PiBoSo! ;D 8)

Gloves now go over leathers! No idea where I got the idea for leathers over gloves, is it even a real thing...?

Hi Snappe

As far as I know, gloves have always been worn over the arms of the leathers. Same with boots. :)

On a first install of GP Bikes, and when you try to connect to the server, a windows Connection box usually pops up behind the main GP Bikes screen(So you cannot see it). In that box it's asking if you want to allow GP bikes to connect to the server; you need to just click okay and it will allow you to connect. You only have to do this once.

Sometimes it's hard to catch it because if you EXIT GP Bikes it often closes with the program, so best thing on first attempt online server connection after first install is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del(after you've tried to connect with the online server)and select the task manager from the blue screen menu that pops up and that will reduce GP Bikes into your task bar enabling you to see the windows connection permissions box. Once you have given your authority for GP Bikes to connect to the server you should have no problem.

Also on windows systems, before you install Gp Bikes, Right Click on the GP Bikes.exe file and go to properties and click the "Unblock" Button on the box that pops up. It all helps for a trouble free install. :)

Bug Reports / Re: preloaded gear
December 18, 2013, 01:57:29 PM
I have noticed on the 500cc bike that when your downshifting fast, the engine bogs down and back wheel locks up. Now okay, I know it's likely that you can lock the back wheel to a certain extent when fast downshifting, but the tyre should grip soon after(within reason) and spin the wheel + engine faster with each downshift; this does not happen on the 500cc bike at the moment.

Piboso has already stated many times that the gearbox physics are not final yet, and I appreciate that; I'm just reporting what happens so he can read and try to get an idea as to what's happening and needs to be done, if not already known. ;) :)

General Discussion / Re: Bike race number

I think this idea of number "registration" here is silly. If people are running something more than just a pick up race online they'll have things organized already and all members will know what numbers they can use, so no point in us trying to claim something here ;).

I absolutely agree with you Guimengo.

This thread started by asking how the race number you register on your profile worked; that was answered......... This has now grown into some riders actually seriously wanting to register a particular number they want. But your absolutely right, Guimengo, if someone organises a race, they will be allocated a race number at registration for that event. :)

Just downloaded again and im still getting Data Mismatch

What setup have you got? I mean is everything default(Tracks,Bikes)? No other addons(Tracks, Bikes, Paint files)? What connection to internet(Hard Wire, Wireless, connection speed)?

Sorry for all the questions, you must be getting very frustrated now after so long with this problem.

I just cannot understand why you would be getting a data mismatch with a default install. Data mismatches are almost always caused by a mismatched file on your system compared to the online servers file(Usually it's the track file at fault on your system).

Have you copy/pasted any file from your old beta3 install into the new beta4 install?

No server admin here...but i tried connecting to a server with altered physics bike and it said something like..."bike not known by server".
This means that the files have to be on the server side to work, i presume, and that would make sence. Otherwise everyone good alter physics to their needs for the same bike we are all on at the moment.

It works exactly like PeterV explained.
The modded bike has to be installed at the server and it's checksums have to match the local version.
If it doesn't  you can't connect - no chance to cheat. KRP uses this system since some month.

Thanks dibu, that's good to know.  ;);D 8)
