Suggestions and wishlist / Engine mappings

I wonder if we could get it setup for the GP1000 class so that Qualifying mapping is only available in Qualifying and/or Practice sessions.
So NO Qualifying mapping in a race. Maybe an option to have for a server admin or through the dedicated.ini?

I really don't know if a qualifying mapping is available in the real MotoGP during a race, if so enlighten me Obi Wans.

I have expressed this earlier in one or two other topics, and i thought i just show you all what i mean.
Makes it a lot easier to explain by just viewing the 2 videos.

The problem for me is that on throttle it just stutters like you have TC or other electronics on but with this class its not the case.
I can just go full throttle down the waterfall section for instance and it just stutters all the way.
If i go off track...on curbs or strokes beside the main track surfsace then its fine.

Does anyone alse have this or am i alone?
(I also have this on some other tracks like, Monza (1 corner), Suzuka)

Is there a possibility that we can hide the menu overlay when on the info screen from the garage? (maybe like in replay, where you hit space to hide it?)
Would be a good thing to have a clean picture from the bike in front of the garage for presentation.

Rules

Drivers that have signed up and dont appear on the race day, without giving a 24 hour notice will be excluded from any future events i organize.
(any unforeseen circumstances like no interconnection, family matters, will not be counted towards this rule)
Its seems only fair to do it this way because you take a spot on the grid which could have been taken by another driver who can make the race.
(the 24 hour notice dont count for this event cause i just posted this).

No Chat during Qualifying and the Race.

Suggestions and wishlist / 2 stroke exhaust smoke

Can we have in the future some kind of smoke from the 2-stroke exhaust?
Not the whole time, but say the first 1-3 laps? Maybe it can be coupled on the engine temp?

This would make it complete in my eyes.

 I launched a dedi server in Beta5B and noticed the bike drifting/pulling of to the right or left when starting to roll.

I could not figure it out until i remembered (yes i'm slow) that i had set the weather conditions. Below is an example of what i did.
( i tested it it on NC - Mugello and NC Suzuka)



[weather]
realistic = 0; 0 or 1, if set to 1, following params are ignored
conditions = 1 ; 0 -> sunny, 1 -> cloudy, 2 -> rainy
temperature = 18 ; air temperature, celsius
wind_direction = 5 ; 0 -> n, 1 -> ne, 2 -> e, 3 -> se, 4 -> s, 5 -> sw, 6 -> w, 7 -> nw
wind_speed = 14 ; meters/second
track_conditions = 0 ; 0 -> dry, 1 -> wet



Now after this i did the same in a testing session on the same 2 tracks with the same result, bike drifting/pulling to right or left.
Very strange, i thought i set the windspeed wrong m/s versus km/h or something.
I checked the Dedicated documentation on the forum and it says wind_speed = 0 ; meters/second.

Now i checked the settings in game (when logged in as admin) and there you can also set the weather, and there the windspeed is shown as km/h.
Is this the problem?

Setting track conditions through dedicated.ini server launch i can select track_conditions = 0 ; 0 -> dry, 1 -> wet
But when i do it in game as an admin i can set the track_conditions. in a X amount of %. Can this also be done in the dedicated.ini server lauch?

Racing / Pulling the plug for now

Pulling the plug on race events for now.
(Cold Turkey Mugello will be the last one for now)

The race events, Cold Turkey, Oldschool,  have been going good, very good in my opinion, but i have had it with GPBikes for the moment.
Im sure i will return in due time when a V1.0 is released.

Everyone thanks for helping me setting this up and making it happen, Dibu you're a class apart my friend, thx for all you're big efforts keeping the servers alive, and providing much needed technical knowhow. Big thanks to all the modders for all there hard work and keeping this going as they did. Finally thanks to all the fellow online riders for some good times and funny shit.

@Piboso (and team), thank you for a very good Motorbike Sim.

i think i just notice now after many many years :P

When braking you see rider hand animation simulating braking on the rightside. thats oke.
When giving throttle rider hand animation is on the left side, this is from onboard and from 3d looking back. this is fault.

Real bike has brake/throttle on the right and clutch on the left. (if not altered for special needs)

Its not problematic but it irritates me  :D

      I have been hosting through dibu's server several race events. We normally use the standard bikes being Murasama and Varese.
      These events have been always without a  generated groove file and where basicly very stable for most.

      Now im trying to do some Multi bike mod racing in the 1000cc class, and with a generated groove file. As you may have read, that Brno GP race was a complete disaster.
      Almost everyone had core.exe at some point, it was very bad. So suspicion went too the Multi bike mod and track.
      I discarded the Mutli bike mod at fault cause you would have had data  mismatches with none correct files, the track has always been good before so why not now.

      We changed the track to Silverstone with a generated groove file still using the Multi bike mod, same problems core.exe for most who tried it out.
      Then i decided to get rid off the generated groove file, and what do we see? no more core.exe now for at least two days.
      this is with diffrent 1000cc bikes and with 2 to 5 people at once in a race session.

      Thinking about this it might be the groove file at fault.
      In the past events when we had trouble it was always or most of the time beginning with the qualifying session, and if you think about it
      around that time (30 min into the event) a good groove file will have started to build up. (12 riders times say 10 laps each is 120 laps of groove buildup.
      This would also explain the fact that with up to six people we had the least trouble on servers, 6 riders times say 10 laps is 60 laps of groove buildup.

      We will have a test race with more riders on Monday evening, i will post the outcome of the behavior in here.

      Maybe a good idea to have a look at it Piboso? I dont know if its really the problem, but these are our findings so far.




      Silverstone TEST 1
      11 lap race @ silverstone, 30 min practice, 15 min Qual .
      9 riders, 6 different bikes. (Multibike Mod 1000cc 1.5.5)

      No Groove file, With Dynamic Surface.

      Result:
      - only 2 core.exe during whole event (cores happened in practice).
      - 1 rider with session lag, the session lag may have caused havoc with server.
      - results all messed up, laps not accounted for. (might be due to track having cutting check lines to close to the tracksurface?)




      Silverstone TEST 2
      11 lap race @ silverstone, 30 min practice, 15 min Qual .
      8 riders, 4 different bikes. (Multibike Mod 1000cc 1.6.0)

      No Groove file, No Dynamic Surface.

      Result:
      - No core.exe.
      - No session lag, times not running behind.
      - Results seem fine, although Nuovaic is missing 1 lap.
      - Lag, was almost not there, 3 riders with 100+ pings (avg. 140/150), they reported no jumping of bikes which they normally have.
      - Grip level, felt the same for most compared to Test 1 which was with dynamic surface.





      Brno GP TEST 1
      11 lap race @ Brno GP, 30 min practice, 15 min Qual .
      7 riders, 5 different bikes. (Multibike Mod 1000cc 1.6.5)

      No Groove file, With Dynamic Surface.

      Result:
      - All good no real problems.
      - 1 Core.exe

      Observation / Remarks:
      - When lining up for the start there was a big lagspike of a 2-3 second period, Thought the game crashed, frozen in time.
      after this David Boda Core.exe, this a reason for the lagspike?
      - All riders pings below 100




      Brno GP TEST 2
      11 lap race @ Brno GP, 30 min practice, 15 min Qual .
      7 riders, 4 different bikes. (Multibike Mod 1000cc 1.6.5)

      No Groove file, No Dynamic Surface.

      Result:
      - 1 core.exe. during Qualifying
      - Small session lag for one player, he had most of the time a 100+ ping.
      - Grip level, felt the same for most compared to Test 1 which was with dynamic surface.

      What i find really interesting is the fact that riders do not seem to feel much difference
      between a track with Dynamic surface or one without Dynamic surface.
      You would think there would be a (noticeable) difference.

      This concludes my testing period for the groove file.
      A thank you to all who helped out with the testing, you can all buy yourself a beer  ;D

      We can say that without a generated groove file (made in a test session) the servers are more stable.
      and give almost no core.exe during the events.

        I noticed that since Beta4b the connection lag is bigger then before. it is very noticeable with riders connecting with 100+ pings.
        These connection lag spikes can go on for 2,3 and sometimes more seconds.

        Its not really a problem unless you are on you're fastest qualifying lap  ;D

          I would like to see the chat disable function moved from settings -> track to admin tab or event tab.

          Seems to me that an admin of the server would be able to enable/disable chat during a session.

          Oke dont know if this is a bug but on certain tracks (or parts of, e.a. Monza, Sachsenring) it seems the traction control is kicking in...it stutters.
          But i dont have it on, i can avoid the stuttering by going over the curb/whitelines. This problem arrived with Beta4 not before.
