Plugins / Re: Rumble in MaxHUD - discussion
August 02, 2015, 10:12:58 AM
Just checked and mine works fine and saves settings OK. Just deleted all the old maxhud stuff before installing the new 'c' version. (from plugins and documents)

Weird file permissions? I am running from my gaming 'admin' enabled account.

Any idea why i would not have any sound?

Demo file loads and plays OK but no audio output. I get a slider added to the win sound mixer but i cannot hear any output.

Win7 64 bit and realtek on board HD audio.

Thanks.

Like the new rumble, seems much more 'connected' to the on screen actions. Bar flap and wheel impacts are much better transmitted than before.

Great stuff  :)

Try making a new account and install to that, it will be a reasonably crap free fresh desktop and Malwarebytes seems to do a decent job of malware/addware removal.

I run different accounts for web(very locked down) , games, developing etc makes life a lot easier in the long run.

Tracks / Re: TRACK DETAILS
July 26, 2015, 04:35:55 PM
A few tracks have 3d spectators (mallory) so its just down to the designer. I guess 'people' could be standard track object to reduce track builder workload though. Prefer any of them to badly animated RIDE spectators though.

I remember animated sky's being a subject when i did a skydome for GP500, various schemes were proposed including a spherical ball or hemisphere sky that could rotate relative to the track 'plane' to give the illusion of moving clouds. You do need to do some fancy mapping though and the GP500 graphics engine limited experimentation.

More simply it would seem possible as the track folder has images for the various sky's which might be interchangeable. I am not sure if the world dimensions are standardized though.
It would probably work if the sky was standardized and suitable images could be downloaded from a server - it would allow more variety of the standard sky at least session to session but not lap by lap.

It would be nice to have flightsim style sky though  8) especially if the clouds dynamically altered the lighting on circuit or you could have a wet/dry race. Not sure if GPB can do the wet change pit stop though  ;)

I find the static helicopters more annoying, and flags should flutter  ::)  maybe the track animation needs fixing.

Looking forward  to trying this.  8)

The poll suggests that most controllers have rumble available, so as long as you can switch it on/off it's just personal choice.

Since Piboso apparently has the right to use them. Maybe... ;)

Still quite a bit of that strange synth organ sound at high rpm though, seems to affect a lot of the mod sounds.

Nice to see the ulster track is still being developed  :)

Back to audio...

Noticed we do seem to have tyre 'skid' noises in game (not as noticeable in first person as on the third person video above), but they do not really help with gauging tire grip on the edge of skidding and you are past the point of 'saving it' in first person view before the skid audio kicks in. Could this feature be developed into a bit of 'squeal' as you get very close to the edge of a true skid?

Do you find first person more enjoyable with head tracking? I find first person view very odd now if i am not using it.

Should work fine as its the same technology as EDTracker. Not sure about risking a 500 quid phone to a hairband though  :-\

Cheap way of deciding if you like the concept though. You can also do the same with a Wii remote via bluetooth

Some interesting info. The high disk usage is curious in example 2 - seems to be a bit of that going around on other threads.

Network usage seems quite light.

Has made me realize i have an issue with killernetworks drivers on my game PC, seems to generate a lot of background traffic. I will have to see if it can be removed and let windows manage the traffic.

Any opinions on Atheros killernetworks? What is it doing to generate traffic?

Picked up a used one these very cheap  :D

Really impressed with it, 'proper' i3 with 4GB,  a neat little machine and near silent.  8)

Will probably let it upgrade itself to win10 as a test platform before i configure it as a trial server.

If the missus does not grab it first as a replacement desktop i could be in business - i knew i had a problem when it was described as 'cute'  ::) when i unpacked it though  ;).

Nice to see you back up DD  :)

Sound 'staging' is the one really weak areas of GPB and it is so important. Try playing with the sound off completely and the game loses so much impact and feeling., completely changes the level of simulation.
I know its difficult to produce but some of the bike mods just do not work for me with the current sounds  :(

A better sound 'system' needs to be on the development list, both the in game atmospheric sounds and bike engine sound modelling.

It would be nice to have some of the mechanical rattles of the bike over bumps and sounds after the wheels hit the track from wheelies and lifting the rear. Maybe some tire squeal when sliding would be an assist as well.

Bikes / Re: RC30 would be a great addition

Mine had the height raised at the rear and rebuilt front forks with all new (upgraded) internals, handled a dream on road. All de-restricted and basic HRC mods. Very confident cornering, beautiful smooth engine.
Last i know it had been rebuilt as an endurance rep with lots of imported race parts after the owner stuck if through a hedge and into a field.

The sorted NC 30 was far better handling on normal roads than the modern ZX6R on stock suspension (too stiff) that i replaced it with.

it was the only V honda one i could find with clear sound on a dyno.  :-[ most are on-board and sound awful.

I know the 'proper' sound well - had an NC30 for several years, very special little bike and really wish i had never sold it  :( I became convinced i needed a 600 supersport- i didn't it was much more fun carrying the corner speed on the 400.

A real one  ;)

My (old) one  ;) Oh the memories... sometimes surprised i survived them

interesting so far, most controllers seem to be rumble enabled and most like the feature but it should be optional. Keep voting  :)
