Go to the top of the class  :)

That has got it working in freetrack emulation in game. Freetest reports v1.0.0.266.

Tracking stability is much improved over mouselook mode and the straight ahead position is staying locked.

Never could get on with manual gears on a gamepad - don't know why, tried a few times with GP500 - maybe i should persevere more
How is your joypad configured ?

Normally using manual gears is really trivial (actually easier than real life, given that essentially you don't have do use the clutch at all in GPB).

Be interesting to see a poll of what rider aids are commonly used, might start one later out of curiosity.
None I'd suspect, as mostly they just slow you down.

MaX.

Im not sure its pad configuration - the brain just does not seem to register that i need to press a button - even when the engine is screaming for mercy. I guess i just got lazy and fell back on auto on gp500 and it has just carried through to GPB - I will attempt to improve and join the big boys manual gearshift club  :) :) I foresee a few blown engines on my horizon.... ;)

Strange when normal bike riding it is very natural and you do not even think about clutch/throttle/footshift when riding, just happens.

I also assumed a bit more AI for the virtual rider, i did not realize the changes are just programmed points.

50cc auto-scooters would make for some close (but very slow) racing  ;D mini-moto bikes would be more comical with the current rider model though.

I cannot see why it would be a problem, your original win7/8 is keyed (mainly to) your existing motherboard and the original packaged license code, so its easy for MS to know its a genuine install when it does the online registration.

I would hope it will be possible because of all the OEM pre-installed systems where the owners did not receive the physical win7/8 media that would otherwise be required to repair a damaged win10 upgrade or if they want to swap out the original system disk with the system recovery pre-installed.

If it is an install over an original system only then its a disaster waiting to happen  :D

Yes, maybe a dedicated launch control is the correct way to go if it is a feature available on the real bike.

My main issue is that auto gears is a rider 'assist' option, it should not make an aspect of the sim more difficult than necessary. When you choose an assist you assume the virtual 'expert' rider is going to take over that task  and make a decent go of it, but it would actually seem that he is not very good at starts either  ;)
b.t,w. on some of the MOD bikes he also chooses the worst moments to downshift and dump the clutch as well, maybe its the virtual riders (lack of) clutch control that is really the issue.

I think we must all know how frustrating that first few minutes with GPB can be and the 'wobbly start' especially on any sort of incline can be very confusing at first. Rider assists should make the game more approachable for more casual 'players' especially as 'Ride' (even with all its faults) has raised a bit of interest in bike sims again and its possibly a chance to capture a few new GPB players.

Well done with the detective work.

About time they defined a standard for motion/VR systems before it becomes a nightmare for developers, seem to be multiple systems scheduled to be released soon (Rift/Microsoft/Sony/Samsung/Steam and others)  and no standards implemented yet.

Ok, tried freetest in GPB.

Reports DLL loaded ver 1.0.0.0, when you close opentrack dll closes OK

Data values are changing in freetest when i move the tracker and GPB running so it looks like the host side of the .dll is working OK, but nothing in GPB. Tried all games options but no game animation - possible bug ?

edit, one observation - the values that are changing are the ones for 'virtual pose' the 'raw pose' values are locked at zero, is it possible that GPB is reading the raw values?

edit, how do you assign rider lean to an analogue axis?

Its all very confused, but according to this page they are indeed different protocols;  ???

Apparently is has been possible with preview;
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/software/operating-systems/1401617/how-to-install-windows-10-clean-install-dual-boot-or-vm

Hopefully the download upgrade will be able to generate a suitable .iso much like preparing a custom install of the older OS .. can only hope they see the sense in this otherwise they might have a lot of upset upgrade customers where the upgrade did not go quit to plan and the machine is left unusable  ::).

I wonder if you will be able to generate a bootable 'installable' (DVD or memory stick) from the download package - i know it has been possible with older versions of windows

Brilliant, thanks  :)

I will try the tests this evening.

Love the responsiveness of the opentrack mouse emulator but i am really beginning to think that GPB is expecting to see the old freetrack dll not the version 2 (ftnoir) dll used by opentrack. I just wish i could find the developer info for the 2 dlls and see if they would have compatibility issues.

The registry key is correct - unless GPB is expecting to see it somewhere specific (old freetrack directory maybe) and opentrack seems to think everything is working.

Could do with some input from PiBoSo as to how GPB is set up and what it expects on the client side. I have put a request in the support section.

I will also try it as a controller (been having too much fun with tracking  ;D ), i guess it will work really well as the output from the device is very stable in native joystick mode.

just noticed the upgrade option today, so can i just confirm - if i go ahead with the update, i will have the option to install it when i choose, and it won't just go ahead and automatically install itself, is that correct?

The reserve option just copies the install package to your local drive and then waits for you to install, might sacrifice my laptop first and see if everything runs on that OK, desktop has all my good stuff on it that i need to use.

Find it worse the more powerful the bike, engine revs to 'normal' auto shift and then engages gear and dumps the clutch in - i like to run without wheelie assist so the bike will flip over on the spot, you can get round it it by blipping the throttle and then letting the engine bog down, similar to having anti wheelie on but this then leads to wobbly pull away.

The virtual rider should really make a better job of launching the bike though, especially when you want a new rider to enjoy getting started with GPB.

Manual gears....... i have an idea for that, watch this space  ;)

EDTracker - a simple low cost device that performs head tracking in 3DOF without the need for cameras.
https://edtracker.org.uk/
EdTracker - natively emulates a standard HID joystick device.

Could you possibly add support for analogue joystick axis to be used for Freelook/headlook  in the options ?

Workarounds using 3rd party software to emulate a freetrack device appear to have been complicated by the emergence of a second, and it would appear incompatible freetrack protocol  (FaceTrackNoIR).

Thank you.
