Is there any way to lower my ping? cause if i cant i wont be able to compete in the moto3 championship which is extremely frustrating.
This game makes me dislike living in Australia :(

The easiest way would be for you to move to europe.

So yes, technically there's a way :)

hahahaha but seriously that doesnt help at all?

There's nearly nothing you can do to lower you ping.
Some ISPs allow to set your box/modem in some sort of "fast" mode (sometimes called fastpath): this typically lowers your ping but it is doable only if you've a very good ADSL line (and typically it does not go along well if you have IP TV on the same line).

But then hey, if you live in australia I don't think you can really be expecting to reliably play on a server in europe.

I've played with people in Australia before with no problem, they had higher ping than most but not high enough to be a problem. The moto3 ping limit is 350 and the Australians I raced were well within that limit, pretty sure the league we raced in had a lower ping limit.

Sellers what ping are you getting and have you made sure it's not being increased by other local traffic in your house? For instance as painful as it may be that porn download will have to be resumed later ;)

I think 350 would be utterly unplayable for the guy with that ping and very annoying for the other players too.
Anything above 150 would be bad I think.

As Max stated above, make sure your the only one or thing(no TV or Xbox/Playstations or other internet users connected) in the house that is using your broadband line while playing GPB. Also make sure your using a hard line connection and not using wireless and see what your ping rate is and you may be surprised how low it is.  ;)

The only other option would be to set-up your own server and get other GPB users in your region of the world to enter races you organise on your own server.  :)

well according to the ping status bar in the server list it runs at 375 sometimes more and i honestly dont notice much difference when im in a server with other people. other than the fact that their bikes lag a small amount on my screen but my bike is fine.

also thanks for the help everyone :)

CapeDoctor

sorry to awaken this old thread, but what would be the easiest way for me to check my ping to the server/s?
i suspect i might have issues, being in good ol' Africa, but if i can check what i'm running at now, i do still have some upgrade options available to me, if needed....
any IP's readily available for me to test?
any assist much appreciated...  :)

You can check your ping rate from the rider list when you connect to the server.... It's on the right side of your name.  ;)

Mine is usually between 30 - 55 depending on were the server is from UK. 120 if connected to a USA server(still fine).

okay, thanks Hawk - my rig should be fixed this week, along with an obligatory, and long overdue, upgrade, and i'll give it a whirl. cheers!  8)
