Well balls :P

The Vive isn't going to be much cheaper, around $500-$600

I thought Oculus was going to be 'affordable'.. Or was that before Facebook bought it?

And you have to factor-in the GPU you need to run it properly ...

I'm sure the original company was talking about a 200 - 299 release price tag when they first went on the crowd-funding website..... But 408? :o >:(

Is that price just for the Standard version or the HD version? If it's for the Standard Version then that is far too much, especially as Max has indicated above, that it hasn't even got it's own hardware to run itself! That is somewhat of a piss-take in my book.  >:(

Have they sorted out the OpenGL issue yet?

Bad move Occulus....  ::) :P

Hawk.
PS: What's the betting that in 12 months time the price will be reduced by at least $100?  ;)

Maybe this could be a cheaper (no price yet but by the look of it, it should be less than the others) alternative if someone hacks it so it can be used on a pc?

Cheers,

Something i have been thinking about is the impact on the first person view bike models in GPB. I assume with a VR headset you will have the ability to look around the cockpit area and bike more than you can currently and see areas that would have no model defined.

If someone has a full tracking VR headset it would be useful to get some idea of the extent of the view movements available.

This is one of the reasons why I personally think a part model of the bike to represent the cockpit is not a good idea(although currently I presume it's for efficiency reasons?)?

I'd have thought that using the full bike model(with detailed cockpit included) with the eye-view(head-camera) working in unison with head movements would be a better option for VR use?
