CAWS MOD Team - Beta 11 - GP500 92 Bike Set Release.
« on: August 31, 2016, 04:07:01 PM »
We are happy to announce the pre-release version of the "CAWS GP500 92 Bike-Set".
All our GP500 bikes have their own unique physics and have been created using real world data as much as we possibly could for these classic bikes taken from the 1992 GP500 championship season.

These bikes are not yet a final release and we would appreciate all your feedback and suggestions for any improvements you feel could be made.

NOTE: All CAWS Team Bike MODS will be released via Matty's "Bikemod" Database.

GP500 Cagiva C592 :

GP500 Honda NSR 92 :

GP500 Suzuki_RGV 92 :

GP500 Yamaha YZR 92 :

Please use this forum thread for constructive feedback and comments only please. All greatly appreciated. Thank you:)

Hawk.

Just to say that if you can't manually blip your throttle and clutch with your controller when changing down gears for these bikes(they don't have electronic quick-shifters on these classic 500 bikes) then I recommend you set "Shift Help" to on(in the settings/simulation settings) to get the full effect..... Gear change is currently a little slower with "Shift Help" set to on than it should be, but we're working on that for the next update.   ;)

ok, some feedback (am I the first one???  :o):
the bikes need more chassis flex and less rear grip.
also, maybe change the default gearings to have very short first gear and the rest about equal steps.

i think the nsr was the only bike with a counter-rotating crank, the others had dual cranks (one going forward, one backwards) for which GP Bikes has no value.
asked piboso a few times, no answer.

Thanks for the feedback Vin, appreciated mate.  ;)

Work on fine tuning tyre models and chassis flex for the various GP500 bikes has already started.  ;)

How do you actually decide that they need more chassis flex ?

@Hawk: cool!
sorry for just finding out about these bikes now lol
great work!

are there plans on improving the sound? more dynamics would be great.

in general, i think that the exhaust note needs to be more of a sawtooth wave.
for the last ~2k rpm (where the expansion chambers are "in tune") it can get smoother (more like a sine wave but still not as 'clean' as the current sound).
treble (overtones/harmonics) should be (gradually) rolled off a bit and from around max-power-rpm onwards, (almost) only the fundamental should be left to get the typical 90 screamer sound of that era.
example 1 & 2.
i hope you understand what i mean.

lastly, it would be awesome if you could recreate the stutter at partial throttle.

Pretty easy to feel/see out of corners when the chassis stiffens up and doesn't give the amount of damping required (in this case, the tension leads to proper rear chatter). Also when the rear wheel is jumping around under heavy braking and causing massive instabilities in the bike.

Are you talking about suspensions ?

I don't think rear wheel jumping around under heavy breaking is due to chassis flexibility.
I doubt you can perceive chassis flexibility while riding in-game (and even more you can see it visually).
