Playstation DS4 + ESC key mapping

I've got a DS4 running on Windows 10 with DS4Windows and it's working as it should with the exception of sending the 'ESC' keyboard button to GP Bikes to access the menu in-game.
I know the mapping works as I've verified in Windows the 'ESC' key actually gets sent upon hitting the designated button on the controller except it seems GP Bikes isn't responding to it so I can't bring up the menu through the controller.
Is this something that's know and is there, perhaps, another way of getting to the menu apart from hitting the escape button? Perhaps a configuration setting somewhere? Thanks.
