McLaren F1 announces they are to use rFactor 2 simulation for their "World's Fastest Gamer" event.

Details about the "First Official Qualification Event" here:
http://www.mclaren.com/formula1/2017/worlds-fastest-gamer/first-official-qualifying-event-announcement/

Seems at least the F1 Teams know which is the best simulator to use for F1 simulation today.  :P

The interest in "eMotorsports" continues to grow......  :P

Hawk.
PS: All the BS about rFactor 2 dying a silent death.... HA!  :P

whats with the hype ?:)) rfactor is dead since the first game, we're 4 years since rfactor 2 launch...and nothing impressive. it survives only with the help of fanboys and the american way of doing exclusive business...just like iRacing  ;D
new sim in town ? ping me !

http://www.rfpro.com/ is the sim for pros :P
rf2 is just a derivative/beer foam  ;D  http://cdn.zmescience.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/o-BEER-facebook.jpg
I hate the tire modelling   ;D

rfpro is made by the same company and has the same physics engine so the only difference is in a companies ability to have a full blown real car to use as a controller as well as better track simulation due to the more powerful computer systems that run it.  :P ;D

I think you'll find Rf's tyre model is state of the art in tyre simulation.  :P ;D

How would one verify that ?

RF Pro has been out for years Max.... It's well known that it's been used by many F1 Teams for their simulators for just as long now.... Also well known that rFactor  has the best physics in the car simulation industry.... Just that some people like to slag them off for some reason..... Some people just hate the best it seems.  :P ::)

I just asked how you can verify rF2 and rFPro use the same physics engine (everybody with a pair of eyes can see they come from the same company).

Err..... Are you sure you just asked if rF2 and rFPro use the same physics engine? Look again at the sentence you quoted from my post.  :P

But anyway, in answer to the question about the rFactor/2 physics engine(isiMotor2/2.5):

Quote from ImageSpace Inc(ISI): "isiMotor2 became the software engine used by most of the Formula One grid when various advancements and a further opened architecture led to rFactor Pro. This product, which continues to evolve, has become the leading software solution for racing teams and automotive manufacturers."

The evidence is there when you care to read through it all Max.  ;)

and customers build their own cars and setups to use that whole environment :P

never endless discussion  ::)   https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/does-rfactor-2-replace-rfactor-pro-aswell.43622/

in conclusion rf pro is incomparable with any rfactor entertainment packages, because its an array of software/hardware from various tech teams ... you probably need a couple of highend PCs to run the whole thing, way too many parameters, software into software connected to another piece of software  :P not possible for gamers right now  :-[

flight sim fans are acustomed to this sandbox title ..maybe in the future available to mortals :P  http://titanim.net/www/

I am sure. As the first part (the fact it's the same company) it's kind of trivial.

I see no evidence in what you quoted, just some marketing speech that wants gamers to believe it's the very same engine.

what do you mean by built-in physics? for me it sounds like 'physics engine'. pretty known strakka team of WEC uses rFactor 1 as it is with private mod of their car made by 'professional' mod team, the mod built with as correct as possible data for tyres and car parameters processed by the simulator engine, in my understanding nobody replaces physics, all RL teams are using quality mods which work on the same physics engine.

As far as I know this is true for all racing series except for F1, where they have the funds and knowledge to completely replace the physics engine with their own vehicle dynamics simulation.
