It seems we're no longer receiving email notifications about posts in the GPB/WRS forum. MXB forum seems to be working OK (at least for me).

I'm still getting my PM's.....
I'm sure Piboso is taking about the forum PM notification system. I presume the PM outgoing notifications are being treated as spam by the forum mail system and are therefore automatically blocked?

Not familiar how forum PM systems work at all, but if anything like yahoo mail, it has a spam filter were you can enter email addresses to tell the system they are not spam mails. Also can just click on the "Not Spam" button when email is opened.
But I don't think this is what your really asking for? Probably looking for a more technical email server admin type solution?

Nothing in my spam folders (gmail), but I just started to receive the notifications again (your last 2 posts).

Only ever recieved pm notifications and have always been sent straight to junk mail ? Hotmail.

For me, no. No mail and no notification in junk folder. (my forum emails go to
web.de)
I just sent two test PMs to myself and nothing arrived.
When I check the usual blacklist sites, there are only very few which blacklist
piboso.com, web05.i3d.net or 213.163.77.211. >90% show clean, this shouldn't cause such a blackout.
The last notification I got was Sunday morning (CET).

It seems this server was listing on RBL. So providers was bloking all email.

The host provider checked today and the server doesn't seem to be blacklisted anywhere.
Now it's ok for blacklisting.
It was the Baracuda RBL.
I don't receive notification since many days now.
And today it's always the same "problem".
No mails in my spams folders.
I think the problem is elsewhere (forum update ? Server update ?). Maybe should you contact your system administrator.

Host technical support already contacted, everything seems to be ok.
A simple test to do is to do a simple php script to send a mail from your host.
Exemple :

if (mail('your@mail.com','test','test message - 6h14'))
echo 'ok';
else
echo 'ko';
?>
If it's ok you will receive a mail and you will know it's not a hosting problem. So you can investigate in the forum logs of configurations.
If you don't receive email and have the KO message, so, it's a hosting problem :)

CBL blacklisting seems to be tied to possible virus infection of hosting system. Not sure it helps a lot ...

I'm getting email notifications, although they do seem to be erratic in that some are from a day or so ago and others are immediate notifications.... Strange and somewhat unreliable in nature I think...

Now I'm starting to get PM notifications of notifications I've already had weeks before...... This is very confusing, especially when those notifications concern the organisation and work I'm doing for the GPB Community... This could well lead to important PM's being ignored and deleted and therefore mistakes being made in the organisation of the Databases and co-ordination between other important contacts like server admins and other database organisers......

Short status update - atm I don't get any PM notificatons again. Last notification was 2 weeks ago. During May it worked at least sometimes.

I just did a short test.
If I use my business address for notifications it works but my private mail addresses at web.de and gmx.de don't work, despite I switched off their spam filter.
Seems like web05.i3d.net is blocked by them generally atm. I don't know which spamlists they use.
Using the business address not an option for me.
Which freemail providers are not blocking atm?
PS: gmail.com works only sending it to spam folder.
It depends on which spamlist the provider appears too.
On gmail I often don't get the notifications (right now I do).

My friend get the same problem too (Gmail)
As a last, desperate, attempt, the whole forum software has been downgraded to 2.0.13, because mail worked before the update.
If this doesn't work, then probably the only solution will be to switch to a different forum software :-\

After re-uploading all the forum software, it restarted working, but the emails weren't working anymore.
Then tried to switch to web05.i3d.net, and tried to make it work.
One last try that can be done is indeed to go back to the servage SMTP server.
Please report if it works now.

Removed the StartTLS hack.
Please try again, but there are very little hopes.
Looks like the web host changed some firewall setting, so that now the external mail server doesn't work.
And of course the internal server is still a mess... Emails arrive to me but not to others, I guess because I'm part of the network :-\
