FAQ:
Q. Can I just turn up for the race?
A. NO a whitelist will be put in force at the end of PRACTICE to prevent those people from joining, "who just turn up for the race and crash into everyone at the first corner then leave". You must sign up and take part in at least any part of the Practice sessions.
Q. Why the A1 Ring AGAIN?
A. I didn't change it yet ::).
Q. How will the server be 'kept alive' when there is no-one on it?
A. Our good friend The Clerk of the Course will oversee it.
Q. What if I cheat and I'm the only one on track
A. Our good friend The Clerk of the Course will see it.
Q. I cannot make the Race on a Sunday :(
A. Sign up anyway, if there are enough people we will hold a RACE RERUN later in the week. :)
Q. How many Restarts?
A. Hopefully NONE, but maximum of 3 - find out what causes jumpstarts and don't do it.
Q Who will decide if the race needs a restart?
A We MAY be having an INDEPENDANT Course Official who wont be racing but will make all those difficult decisions.
More to follow as questions come up.Please sign up (name and number) if you would like to take part. :)

TRACK IS WET BUT EXPECTED TO BE FULLY DRY LATER
Ooo eck :o
2 stroke 500cc...... Oh yes! I'm in! ;D :-* 8)
Hawk #7
PS: Anyone found a setup to cure those wobbles on the Varase 500 yet? :-\
Warlock #13
No wobble fix yet as far as setup goes. I have softened things down (suspension and tyres) and upped the gearing and changed to steel brakes is all.
Very wet still just now and extremely hard but the track should get more ride-able as time goes on with the sunshine there. Expected a dry line by 6pm at least (temp is a bit cold).
One thing to note is the tyre overheat bug/(realism) really shows up here. If you fall you might as well restart from the pits because temperatures will be >100degrees C and un-rideable - unless you go slow for a lap to make them cool off.
I will have to find our tyre overheat bug thread and bump it, so it is not lost or forgotten. The simple remedy would be to reset tyre temps when resetting the bike I suppose.
Post fall temperature

Hate 2-strokes, don't like the track, BUT I love Nick's events and I particularly like that my main man Warlock crept out of his eremit cave - so I am in! :)

Damn I cannot think why, there is no whitelist yet or blacklist so everyone should be able. And also if you can join other servers OK then that should also be fine.
Although not a Dynamic function the Wet track may cause a problem but unless other people see it I am not so sure.
I will put the GPBOC 2 server online just for you, try that one

Love to see you guys around. Thanks also to Nick, who still have the humor and passion required to make this events. thanks
Dammit, seems like I forgot that my wife and I have in invitation for sunday evening (unfortunately my wife did not forget ::)). I can't pull out of that, it's been arranged long time ago, so I have to make my spot available for the race. But I will surely be in for another event soon. If possible, please keep me on the whitelist, so I still can join practice etc.???

Hehe.... you seem to able to read my mind :P
Hoping to get to the track in a bit but wanted to make sure I uploaded my bike skin due to server keeping the first one you use and never rode the Varese before so heres me skin for the bike.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/75onv85w8nbh1px/IASystems%20Varese.pnt?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/75onv85w8nbh1px/IASystems%20Varese.pnt?dl=0)
Think I have most peoples and had no crashes like with the 990 skins. Did anyone find the skin for 990 that causes crashes?
DD
I spent some time on it indeed and found a group of ten that, when added caused the error. So I took them individually, inserting them and testing each one and none of them caused the problem.
This was after a full day tweaking the Mura physics and chassis config until I got rid (massively reduced) the wobble3zero.
So after that fail-to-find mission I thought F*UCK IT and never looked back hahaha! I will stick to using skin-packs for races in future using just the ones I need for visual eroticism.
Maybe I will have another go at finding that skin someday, for now I would suggest downloading the lot is like throwing sh*t into a fan. :D
Apologies for my strong wording today, I am feeling MIGHTY!
LMAO.........strong wording, ha I am far worse dude. I have all the skins and will do a ONE-BY-ONE soon lol. I added my paint for the Varese as is first time I rode it and wanted to have MY paint lol.
Be on track soon as..................
DD
Lol ! Take Valiums to the ONE-by-ONE party and something you can smash the f#ck up with a bat.
HAHHHAHAHAHA!
Good luck online, treat that throttle like it is directly wired to your plums and is RED HOT.
I thought that burnin sensation was from the girl last night, dang kicked her out the door for no reason lol.
Yeah 2 strokes are not my flavor on GPBikes I have to learn a lot to get on with it bro.
Still a shit load of fun
DD
Same here, Im an incompetent with these bikes but are fun! ;D
Hi Nick.
I've done an update to the A1 Ring track if you want it for the race?
I've adjusted the timing markers to avoid any riders missing them if they go off track near them and re-join the track after they pass the timing markers. This will help avoid riders not registering a lap during the race. ;)
Also adjusted the start-line timing marker to extend into the pit-lane to avoid a missed lap for riders who have to take a ride through penalty. :)
It's all tested and works fine. ;)
Let me know if you want it before the race so I can upload it to the database and publish it. ;)

I had a chat with Ali about the Best Lap connection and it is a problem he has already asked PiBoso to fix (the link shuts a lot for no reason). Annoying.
Hey guys,
Bambino cannot get on the GPBOC 1 server but can get on others OK. He has his Bandwidth setting to HIGH, there are no Whitelists or Blacklists on this session and server is recently restarted.
Any more ideas to try we can suggest and help him with?

I can only suggest he totally shuts-down and then restarts his PC and router after 30 secs, and to cover all bases on this thought, to give his system a good clean with CCleaner(That's software and not a mop and bucket. Hehe). ;D ;D
But yeah, that's all I can think of that's worked for me in the past under similar circumstances. ;)
Are there any messages showing except the usual "connecting" one when your trying to connect to the server Bambino?
Failing that I would advise to delete the track from your tracks folder and download and install the track again(Never copy/paste over old installs)..... stranger things have happened, right. ;)

I was getting "Connection Timeout" messages when I first installed beta 8. Only when the windows firewall connection Authorisation box appeared so I could give authority to connect to the server was I able to connect without any problem and everything has worked fine on connections ever since. Strange thing was just how long it took for that connection authorisation box to appear, usually it appears straight away after trying to connect to a new connection but in beta 8 it didn't do that for some reason. Anyway, that's the only other thing I can think might be causing the issue with Bambino's connection problems.
Hope you can get it sorted mate. ;)

Lucky, lucky! Hehe.
I was wondering about that because you'd said earlier that you were breaking a lot of engines.
Hawk.
PS: If I remember rightly, that's usually Bobs trick.... isn't it Bob? ;D
Ok lets be clear.
First i got pissed by Jorge and Blackheart? discussion during Qualy. A really kiddy one
Then Matty made a mistake and restarted the server, nothing wrong with that m8, we are humans, so we decided to start with random positions.
Second got pissed beause anyone was listening to the chat, instead they started moaning and spamming the chat with "WTF" and "?????????????????" sort of things due the random position on the grid.
Then , on the starting line, last thing i saw in the chat was :"ok, lets do first corner and then we restart". Ok , race started.
At the first corner, a bull came from my right side and almost kicked me out of the planet, (good line for the first corner m8, well done :P) , no sorry, no nothing......ok
I thought ...well np we are going to restart,....but it never did , my question is: why?
In the meantime the chat didn't stop at all, really annoying.
Then people began to retire from the race , that really piss me off. Why the hell are you joining a 20 laps event if you retire in lap 10 or less..... i dont get it.
As you can see, was a really enjoyable race for me.... :P
Apart of this, Congrats Hawk for your win !! Nuovaic for the 2nd place and Jose Reina for the 3rd. Good job guys. :)
@Hawk For fear of breaking the engine was going slower than 1-2 seconds, unfortunately on lap 11 the bike became impossible to ride (probably the tires were too hot) I was close enough :'(
@Warlock I was hit three times in succession in qualifying ... and this jorge (dunno who is) wanted to be right. If he remained silent, I would not have said anything, but it did not happen. Sorry for the chat spam in the qually, But you have talked for the entire race!

Meant different players have used the chat for the entire race, I have not read who they were.

looking forward to the race but after the server restart, my housemate turned up wanting a hand unloading the van pfffft ::) il keep an eye out for the next race ;)
Well i think we should quit the complaining for this race.. Let's just say that this was not our best race and shit happens sometimes :) (Not talking about the reset, i myself kinda liked that little tweak with random grid positions even though i finllay managed 1.27 and got pole lol :D )
Let's put this behind us and get ready for next race!
And well done to everyone who finished the race and sorry for chat during race.
Unfortunately cored out of P1 on lap 1 :(
Well done and congratulations to Hawk-san for the win! Finally mate! ;)

For half race I was second, I had no idea you were in front of me ;D
I saw someone behind me, but I had no idea it was you either mate.... There was also 2 or three riders in front of me at the first corner but one crashed on the 1st bend and then another on the second bend. from then on things were going so smoothly and so well for me that I thought I must be doing something wrong here.... Hehehe! ;D
Dareaper was hot on my tail at one point but he disappeared too, so I presume he crashed?
But yeah I'm really pleased! I'll have to take a look at the replay! ;D
Thanks for the congrats guys.... really appreciated! ;D 8)
Hawk.
PS: Thanks for the super quick replay file Peter.... Your a star mate! 8) 8)
Yea I was reeling you in bit by bit, and then last corner before main straight I low sided :( Front just gave away. I actually felt really good around the track and consistent, was so upset when I crashed :P. I knew all I had to do was stick with you. Well... My race went better than the Mura race. After reading your(Hawk) post about people that can only hotlap and not race, I thought of myself and realized in the first race, which was my first race ever online. I focused too much on braking too late and not just racing MY race. Took your advice and just thought about my moves. Thanks Hawk :D and gz.

Agree with your points mate and as for the above all I can offer is an apology and an explanation, - After server reset I came back in and sat on grid (behind-the-scenes (whisper chat) chaos going on as you can imagine not helped by people on the grid spamming their problems with it) then I Cored out at the start, last thing I saw was BoB leaving so thought he had cored and a restart was imminent. Got back in, tried to work out what was happnin, gave some option advice to Matt etc etc. Got too late, left.
As for chat in the sessions there should be minimum which means restrict it to "Sorry", "NP", and things like that. Time to teach the !eject command lol. I never understand why people can't shut up, but historically at every race they can't lol it must be a human thing. Turning the chat off in the settings is the way to go if it is too distracting I guess.
From the start it looked grim after poor Matty couldn't even watch the race in Live replay mode without a core so he couldn't 'see' what was going on. Shame for the poor lad too, as he was helping us all to make a fair race and more importantly (to me) was taking the responsibilities off my shoulders so I could enjoy the race too. A noble gesture for a 12/13 year old I think ;D
I understand m8, my complaints are not about the race itself (apart of the first corner crash) but about how people can't make it easy for you and Matty.
You guys take the time , the effort, and responsability to organice all this stuff and people act as childs at the playground.
These events are fun based, but that also opens the door for people to act like kids.
You guys should be able to race too, despite being responsible of the event, but i don't see it possible with this kind of attitude.
Core crashes makes it even more difficult but for the same reason people should try to help you paying attention to whats going on, not only if they are going to win.
I don't mind to be the last one in the race, i've been there many times, also in the podium. But the most important is FINISH the race.
Some guys know they can't win or get in the podium and after 5-10 laps they quit the race?? why?? .....and not all of them had a core crash.
So all i was talking about is about respect, respect for the organizers and respect to other riders. Quiting a race after 10 laps makes the event a nonsense.
I crashed during the race at least 8 or 10 times, i knew i never gonna win it this way, but man..... i kept racing. You never know what is gonna happen in a long race like this, you can get surprised by a multicrash at the first positions and climb 6 or 7 positions in the final result, i've seen that before.
Ok, last time i talk about this, i promess , i hate to act like a father but i have to, sometimes ;D

Cant agree with you more Warlock. It was only my second race since 2010 and I was so looking forward to it but got taken out on lap 2 by Raptor (He quickly apologized on the forum) and GPB cored while I was laying on the ground!!! I therefore was out of the race anyways but it was actually the second time I got hit in 1 lap, first time was only light on my rear(form replay looked like my friend Raptor lol), managed to keep it and felt great I did. I am not out to win as I know i cant, I am new but I want to FINISH without crashing!!! I know I can do it but not if other riders are thoughtless about others and ride only to win at the cost of other riders fun.
I am one of the oldest on here if not the oldest (52 :'() and have been there done it and dont need the WIN to enjoy a race, its how you get there and so many dont know how to do it if they tried. Not only that, but where do you see in real life on the track such ridding? You DONT. It is a skill and not a macho BS thing.
It is a shame that people are not recognizing and respecting the hard work and personal sacrifice Nick, matty and the COTC are making. I personally raise my glass and toast to them for such dedication and selflessness for all of us who want to race online.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
DD
Thanks Guys, in general I think we do pretty well with the events and the majority have been 'club racing' here since its creation and know the score. New blood is always a risk but if a good example is set they usually settle in pretty quick.
Maybe some kind of club initiation might be required in the future - dummy race with restarts, jump start explanations, early braking on first corners - rules recap etc would be useful, then let them in the old dogs races after. It's either that or the cows ass/head initiation and what with health and safety nowadays......
And DD, I have been setting my goal as to finish a race without falling for a YEAR and only managed it once so far. :-[ I always try to get to the end because I know I will always get a good position doing that but I admit it can get too annoying sometimes and I Pit In. Depends how much strain it has been to get the race off as to whether I can endure it. ::)
Looking at the good points of that race - no-one jumped! Woohoo!
Thinking of Re-Running this race Wednesday if anyone wants it. I will post a new thread about it.
Im in for it bro. Might change my name to "Old Ass IAS Systemzzzzzzzzzz"
DD
45 years old here m8, not too far from you ;D
Go ahead with the race Nick, but im sorry i can't join it during the week (only sundays or mondays) i finish work quite late.
Next one i'll be there. ;)
Warlock - well said mate.
DD - I'm 57 but don't think I'm the oldest ::)
Nick - correct. GPBOC races are great fun, usually! But it gets serious after a lot of Guys put up to 200 laps in training. They want a serious race. Then it's bound to get tetchy if there's a slight problem. To me, it might be better to not have a server open for so long before the race. Or maybe reduce the time between posting about the event and the event itself. Just a suggestion ;)
Understand, and the Club introduction and rules (what there's pages of stuff to actually read?) says serious racing is provided because we know people want a laugh but need to know the races are taken seriously by the admin (and they are). No-one can be arsed to take part in reading it though, they just want to invade, take the racing and go away till the next one, moaning and dripping along the way. Like I have said before, people need to get out of mummies apron and appreciate things will go wrong and help to make it better - not throw their dummies out of the cot and threaten not to take their pants down the next time they poo. (Hey my son taught me that).
I want to make our events something different to the usual just turn up and race. I mean a GP weekend is a 3 day event. I'm trying different stuff cos its fun (should be) and to try and keep this game alive. Other people can put on their same old 'perfect races' if they like, maybe we can all come enjoy them instead.
Anyway the motto stands "Making the best with the tools we are given". ;)

Probably right, but i think now it gives you the freedom to train when you can, and not forced to do it at certain hours that might not be able to (family, work, etc).
I think the server open as it was is right, just hard for the COTC. I did not get much time to practice and was thankful that the opening times helped me. We also have to remember that this is for the internet and there are time zones. It is only fair anyone from any county gets time to practice. That is one of the points often missed in online racing.
DD
I agree with everything you guys are saying there, except for one thing - Quote from "nuovaic" : "
To me, it might be better to not have a server open for so long before the race. Or maybe reduce the time between posting about the event and the event itself."
In my opinion that won't make any difference whatsoever. Riders will just practice offline or on another server with the same track. All you'd achieve would be to penalise the well behaved riders for the sake of the few idiots.
Personally I think club penalties and server kicks should be introduced to stop any disrespectful behaviour:
- Any use of disrespectful language or name calling will be kicked from the server and banned from the next event without any warning.
- Restarts will be solely the decision of the event organiser. Any attempt to call for restarts from the event riders will be deemed an act of disrespect and kicked from the server without warning.
- Any name calling or abuse aimed at new riders will be regarded as an act of gross disrespect and kicked from the server without warning.
- Any event grievances are strictly for discussion on the forum after the event not during the event.
As far as I'm concerned frustration and anger hold no place at all as an excuse to vent and abuse while the event is still running. It shows total disrespect to your fellow riders and should be stamped out quickly.
Pretty draconian measures but at the same time straight forward, and at least everyone would know were they stand which is exactly what we need to stop that sort of behaviour.
It's a shame we have to think of doing this sort of thing but it's always the few idiots that try and spoil it for the majority and then apologise afterwards only to do the same thing again later.... so yes I think draconian measures are required to nip that sort of behaviour in the bud and make riders realise that sort of behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Hawk.
Matty was trained in the art of !eject and !black only tonight.
trouble is between me and you guys, is he appears to be a complete power crazy megalomaniac! He had me banned in 2 minutes!
LoL.
As for the rest when we have 100+ riders vying for a chance to race it will be easier to control. For now I have to pay people to come hahaha!
Gonna close this thread now and open another ;)
I have a feeling I'll be the first to experience these two things ;D

Save it for the forum.
HEY NICK!!!..........................Wheres my money for being there then???? lol
If anything we should pay you........please nobody agree as I cant afford it lol.
Dont be too hard on people, a ban should only happen if a warning is ignored. You can make it just one warning, but how will people learn if you just ban them without saying why!!! Think about it please.
