I really hate the far mountains in NC Mugello: their color is weird.

It's due to the fog (in the track .amb file): the way it is implemented in GPB means that if you push it too high, the objects far away will have horrible colors.

It's an old problem (see http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=1174.msg14042#msg14042) and it affects other tracks too if I recall correctly (e.g. http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=958.msg14312;topicseen#msg14312, not sure it has been fixed).

Rant over :)

P.S.
Yeah, I was testing some plugin stuff :)

There are also some white line core.exe issues with this track.

Yeah, live standings/gaps, work in progress. Basic version is essentially done.
Map and standings will also work while spectating and during offline replays.
Some annoying details to be taken care of, waiting to el Pib to improve the plugin interface (which is ongoing in KRP).

This sounds interesting ;) that is one thing i have missed, since i like to know who i am hunting, defending my position from or what is going on. Usually had info about rider in front or behind at my pitboard too when racing

You have this in GPB too, no ?

I've found the discussion with Noss I had at the time: http://forum.motonline-france.com/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=1743&p=29902&hilit=+fog#p29900

Here (https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BzmU7Qoo77i1Y0VZOWh5dlctejA&usp=sharing) you can find screenshots taken at different point on the track (1-4), with different conditions  (c1 = cloudy point 1, r1 = rainy point 1, s1 = sunny point 1) and different fog density values (fog 0.0000, 0.0001, etc).

So advice for track modders: use the fug stuff carefully, it does weird things.

Hawk

Anyone know if Noss is still around? I haven't heard from him in ages.  :-\

Hawk.

I saw something on improving distance view but can not find it again. My Mugello looks shit. The trees on the left by the grandstand are clouded just sitting in the pit!!!

Any tips? How did he get it to look so good in the pics in that link Max?

The distance thing is in your profile.ini (drawdistance), but I'm not sure that's what is bothering you.

In the track folder, edit the .amb file (it's text).
You have 3 sections (clear, cloudy, rainy) and in each of them there's a fog section like this one (values may change):

fog
{
density = 0.0015
red = 0.7
green = 0.67
blue = 0.65
}

Change the density value to something lower. What I suggested Noss at the time:

clear --> fog density 0.0001
cloudy --> fog density 0.0001 or 0.0002
rainy --> fog density 0.0004 or 0.0008

I don't think this will give you a data mismatch online, but it's worth checking because it could be argued that it should (well, that would really be nitpicking).

Yes you do but of course Meyer will never have seen this - as you don't get it when in the lead!  ;D (though that is wrong too surely?)

For me, on most of the tracks for years now. In the ini file I would change the light source to make it much brighter, then I'd change the fog color to give it a blue haze like in real life when on a sunny day. NC's Paul Ricard I thought always had a nice fog/haze color so I've used those settings a lot.

A lot of tracks have default sun light, and it always looks like a 20 wat bulb to me. Not bright sun light, it reall ruins the experience for me on some beautiful track when the sun is some dim thing.

Changing these setting doesn't effect online play.

Thanks for the info guys. May flat looks like a bomb hit it while getting new windows so will test as soon as I have a place to actually sit down lol
