Title: Aerodynamics coefficients of motogp 2020 bikes
Post by: JJR on May 19, 2022, 01:40:57 PM
Hi!

I just done CFD simulations of 2020 motogp bikes and I want to share my results usefull for modders.
My results based on moto GP models from motogp20. I didn ´t simulate internal flow (cooling).
SO here are result:

Desmosedici20  : CDA=0,262 / CLA=-0,090
GSX-RR             : CDA=0,237 / CLA=-0,019
RS-GP               : CDA=0,247 / CLA=-0,016
RC213V             : CDA=0,259 / CLA=-0,047
RC16                 : CDA=0,251 / CLA=-0,021

negative value mean downforce

You can see that ducatti has most downforce and most drag.

It isn ´t 100% accurate fore sure but those values are realistic. I used same raider for all bikes.

Amazing!
Thank you.

Would you mind sharing info about the software you are using?
Does it output the position of the center of pressure as well?

I ´m using ofenFoam v8 and yes it output also CL on front end rear axles which I will post later.
I also plan to simulate internal flow (cooling) to compare its effect and some older bikes maybe too.
