Title: Skinning Helmets
Post by: RIDER on June 09, 2015, 12:57:24 AM
Im confused as to fitting a curved helmet picture or element to a flat template without warping the design, or do you guys make the graphics from scratch?

The UV mapping is not good on the helmets. I had to end up warping any design or text characters to get them to line up properly on the helmet I chose for my design. Not easy, and certainly a pain in the arse, but certainly do-able.  ;)

I traced the UV frame making it into a shape and then set the image as a pattern, hoping there was a way to warp to shapes or paths. Manual warp it is then.

Cheers!

Like Hawk said, its a pain in the arse :P

Little changes will help you get used to what the helmet does and where. But trial and error is currently the best method :)
