Heres a starter - Optimum GSXR600 Wet tyre temperature - 75oC

Max tyre temperature I can generate - about 55oC.

Not a good start  :(

Edit - Silverstone, track Air Temp 22oC, Ground Temp 25oC

it would be better to do a 10 laps race with dynamic drying, no rain, and 20° C on the asphalt

If you ever feel downhearted just remember the jewel that is GPBikes, and what it can do. Make a tea, put your feet up and take a snapshot of yesterdays 8 hours period.

Silverstone, 20oC Air temp
Big downpour at Silverstone followed by a few bikes out on track until the drying line was visible but then just natural track drying in the sun over a few hours captured in time-lapse photography LIVE.

https://www.youtube.com/v/hgVpJd252fI&feature=youtu.be

Cloud movement added no other editing at all. Felt a tear well up at the beauty of it. ::)

Funny you should say that Alby ;)

Knowing what I know now the Server for tonight will be reset and open about 6pm CET and will not be reset pre race.

Practice starts whenever you like after 6pm CET, tyres are not limited. Official Qualify starts about 8.30 CET (same time seen here (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2330.msg32811#msg32811)).

By the end of the race it might still be wet or it might be dry. Tyre choice is.....yours  ;)

Thanks mate it was a long project.  The good thing is the office think I have been working very hard these last weeks with my closed door and sighing and throwing stuff about (controllers).
Might even take an extra holiday this year.  ;D

It will be interesting to see how environmental factors such as track, air and wind changes affect it.

PS: there is a little wind tonight so beware careless wheelies

Oh and if anyone sees a 'Track Maintenance Vehicle' in game, that's making sure the server is kept alive even if everyone leaves  :P

Have raised air temp by 2oC so might be resetting the server later (maybe 7pm CET) to ensure it don't dry out too fast.
hey its a test, things change, roll with it baby. ;)

how many are we? that would change everything. I said 10 laps because if it dries we won't have tires problems
Title: Re: PRE-B7 Dynamic Track Test Silverstone | WET |
Post by: Napalm Nick on June 23, 2015, 04:21:47 PM
maybe as many as 11.  You could always take dry tires and 'manage' the race for a strong finish.

I dunno seeing what the track is like come the race and gambling is part of the mystery and fun!

Edit: But yes I agree 10 laps is more reasonable while there are so many unknowns.
Title: Re: PRE-B7 Dynamic Track Test Silverstone | WET |
Post by: Napalm Nick on June 23, 2015, 05:02:09 PM
One 'bug' (?) I see is that sometimes when I start the server as full wet there is a 'wet sheen' on the track reflecting advertising boards/bridges and sometimes there isn't.  However I reckon that is a local (my games PC) bug not a server issue (?), but its still a bug lol.

Race length changed to 10 laps, server is on now after a reset for anyone who wants to start practice and cut that drying line in.

I will see you nearer 8.00pm CET  :-*

If you happen to be the last person on the server don't leave or it will reset lol! Will only happen if my Track Maint vehicle crashes.

Post by: Hawk on June 23, 2015, 05:38:35 PM
Hmmm..... While I was online(wet track) the reflections looked and were working really good.... Maybe it's a graphics driver problem? Or maybe the track is drying out more on some parts than others and therefore reflections on the dryer parts naturally are not as apparent as the wetter parts of the track?

Maybe Piboso could confirm this?

Hawk.

Official practice starts in......
(http://www.pending.me.uk/cd/pin_1435084200.png) (http://www.pending.me.uk)

but drying server is open now Followed by 20 min qual and 10 lap race

Good point Peter - you will need to install the correct track, Silverstone GP V0.95. NOT the usual nds track.

Note to self: make this more obvious next time  ;)

laptimes 4 to 5 minutes behind, was waiting for race too start and guess what?......CORE.

Not youre fault Nick, nice try m8.

Post by: Napalm Nick on June 23, 2015, 07:45:55 PM
I'm out too couldn't see anyone on track at all then just cored.

OK so lets get a list going:

1. Massive bike LAG even though no-ones Ping was >100
2. Massive wait for laptimes to show up
3. Laptime sectors often missed
4. Chat Lag
5. Cores on track

I'm not fussed it wasn't to have a good race it was to have something recent to compare for the Post B7 fixes (if any).

Grateful for everyone coming to test it. We will  have a good old NDS race soon!

i noticed in qualifying that the softs started working very eary in the dry sections/on the dry line.
if u just were ~20-30cm (for hawk: arm divided by three elbows :P) off the line it was very slicky but on i could go "fast" on my own level.
another thing is that the dry line disappered on some parts i think. after the long long straight and the following long right turn u under/thru this advertising rbidge.
from there on, i think, were 10m missing (visualy) of the dry line

Again like Malory, I had a very stable experience.

No on track cores what so ever and only one in the garage (probably down to the lag issue)

As for the track and its drying line, it was definitely there, not as predominant as the Malory test (larger track, less track time etc.) But it was pretty good towards the end :)

I cannot think why some would have DS working and some parts not?? Maybe the dry line develops at different rates on different parts of the circuit? If so that would be realistic and fantastic!  ;D 8)

Maybe Piboso could confirm?

Yeh at Mallory though the I had pre-loaded the Racing line so already lots down before people joined.

Lag and De-sync between players is the main problem tonight I am sure.

It is also what Peter discovered a year earlier, so now we hope Post B7 Netcode and Dynamic fixes help with the problem. If not then B8 is only just round the corner  ;)

Thanks everyone.

Oh BTW Im thinking we could re run this race in the Dry or in the Wet but NON DYNAMIC this Thursday if you like? See the Quick Canvass thread (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2330.0).........

Alright until you steam into the mid corner and it back to wet :P

Handy to see where everyone else is breaking though ::)

Yes.... It was a real shame GPB went out-of-sync and was VERY laggy for tonights test event with DS and wet track with the 10 - 15 riders we had on track tonight. In the end everyone had to bail out of the server because most could not see each other when they went to pre-start grid positions, and chat was useless to communicate because knowone else could receive what was being said on chat-box. The lap timings were not recording or were only showing up sometimes 5 mins or more later too.

Real shame because it would've been a great race to be part of had things worked right. :( ::)

Thanks to Nick for promoting this event.... I'm sure we all learned a lot from it to test against beta 7.  ;) 8)

Hawk.
