Title: Tracktesting and Feedback
Post by: JJS209 on July 06, 2015, 02:22:29 PM
hey GP Bikes community,

it would be nice to get some help for testing tracklayouts, surfaces and also to get some feedback at all for WiP tracks.

so ill start with a request to test the layout (not the surface, i will adjusted that later) of my next project IRRC Horice.
the main question i have is, does the gradient of the different sector nearly fit to the reality.
it would be great if we have a rider who knows that track from reality.

cheers

Hi there
your layout is realy good!
Section from "u schodů" to "u vodojemu" is all uphill just like section from "na dachovech" to start finish ( here uphill finish before section "na cikánce" )
and horizon in "Dachovské esíčko" is in middle of this two corners where bikes changing direction and corners are closer ( and straight before this section is more direct )
from "na cikánce" to "náměstí" = downhill
from "náměstí" is uphill
section "pod smrkem": left before right corner to the "naměstí" is more direct

hope it helps little bit

A warning message for you and anyone else planning to create TT circuits:
a new project is planned for Q1 2016 ( AFTER the official release of GPB ), with the final goal to include the most popular TT races ( IRRC Horice not included ).
Tracks will not be compatible with GPB.

Just an heads-up. Of course you are still free to do whatever you want.

Great news PiBoSo!  :D

Any more provisional informations? Official licence? Laser scanned? Official bike brands?

We'll be there in 2016!  8)

This is probably the most important piece of info :)

What are the plans for the other games ? Which final versions are planned BEFORE the new project ? KRP ? Others ?

Good luck for the new project (guess we will all buy-in): as you're including "official" tracks, I'm deducing this new project is somehow sponsored, right ?

Do you mean the tracks from this new project wont work in GPB? Or tracks made for GPB that are the same wont be allowed for copyright reasons or something?

Directx or opengl, that should not be the reason for the new tracks being not re-usable in GPB (or vice-versa).

does anyone know how to start an onlineserver or a testsession with a "layout"?
made a test with two different layouts of the contidrom, but i am not able to get it to work.

(http://www.gp-bikes.de/team-germany/tracks/Contidrom/layout.jpg)

server.ini:
...
track = Contidrom_V0.1
track_layout = long
category = SSP600
...

By layout. do you mean having 2 track layouts within same circuit?

Oh bugger! Lol
I did know how to do that a while back, I've forgot exactly how to do it now with not needing to do it myself...... If no one has the info for you I'll see if I can find the knowledge again and post it here later.  ;)

I'm sure it's something to do with the track config file....

Well I'd have thought that either Piboso is redesigning the way the tracks work, or redesigning the graphics engine, or the tracks will be officially licenced, or a combination of all those things.
Probably to make the new tracks work in GPB or integrate them into GPB would require GPB to be totally redesigned programmatically speaking.  :)

Best lets wait till Piboso is willing to divulge more detailed information about the subject.  ;)

Hi JJ

Unfortunate I cannot find anything about multi-track layouts to remind me how it was done. However I seem to remember that you create both versions in their respective track folders and then just drag and drop one track folder into the other. Then in the in-game track menu both tracks show up and the rider chooses which layout he wants to use.
You could rename the track folder within the main track folder to specify the alternate track layout you wish to state.

Then as far as tracks on server are concerned it should work as usual.  :)

Not sure if this is exactly how it's done, but seems logical to me....... Give it a try. ;)

Hawk.

hey korbik, thanks for your corrections. can you take a second look on the actual version?

there was a part that i did not understand in your first post:

Section from "u schodů" to "u vodojemu" is all uphill just like section from "na dachovech" to start finish ( here uphill finish before section "na cikánce" )
can you try to explain that again for me?
