Is there a difference in the purchased product between buying direct at https://gp-bikes.com/?page=purchase and buying through Steam? I don't use Steam for anything else but that version is £4 cheaper (UK prices) so I wonder whether it's a bargain or whether it's missing stuff
Either way you will have to use steam!. I hate it since it went to steam as I also hate steam. It is worth to just buy it on steam and have nothing to worry about for updates or anything just mods have to be from the forum or databases.

If you need any help just ask on the forum and welcome to GPBikes when you get up and running

Really? How odd. I'm running the demo in plain ordinary Wine, no Steam required
With the stand-alone you also get PiBoSo's car racing game WRS (world racing series).
That's the only difference really.
You don't need the Steam version as far as I know. I have one of each and they work equally good.
The stans alone you have to update manually and not sure if you can use it online as not used it in a while. Best to look into it to ensure you can use stand alone for ALL races online.
telent may know

Both versions are the same.
The only difference is one uses the Steam client and the other doesn't
No content or features are restricted within game in any way.
My recommendation is to use Steam
