Finally, Good luck all.
So as there is no ambiguity - the track conditions for this race will be set as the above real-life (ish) Weather forecast (also fulfilling one of the aims in the Club 'suggestion and wishlist').
So,
68% wet track (which is not expected to dry fully by the end of the Race)
4.47 metres/sec NE Wind speed.
No rain.
Cloudy.
Edit: Air temperature 28oC
I suggest: Wet setup / Wet Tyres / Wet ECU setting / TC > 5 and lots of practice.
I'm in Nick! Can't wait to race again after my lay-off. Lol ;D
Hawk_UK #7
Soooperb!
What percentage of dryness should be expected around lap 10?
35% ish. I ran a full race sim and there was still spray at the end. Depends each time on some factors though.
So any dry tires are just a no go.

after testing last night... no :)
Interestingly though, if the weather had been sunny instead of cloudy then it would be a different story.
Added a poll at the top of this page (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2557.0) so you can decide.
The GP10 is a special beast. Very special. A bit like a Gremlin you can ride one but it will often bite - add water and you will seriously regret it!
POLL REMOVED - IT WILL STAY WET BUT HOTTER
i like rain in the race ;D
plantsch plantsch :)
I'm off to the BTCC this sunday so not sure if I'll make it back in time, if I don't have a goodun all 8)
and rain lol :o Yea it was getting bit too easy ;D
I have taken the liberty of upping the air temperature to 28
oC as I could not get the tyres higher than the tyre-warmer temperature of 60
oC on track and the tyre physics files for this bike and tyre says Optimum is 75
oC.
Now I can get the tyres up around 70oC and it has made a huge difference (for me) - hell I even did 3 laps without a front tuck. Try it you might change your vote (in Testing if u cant get on server - all the data for the testing settings is here in this thread).
Final Edit: Honestly it makes a huge difference to the bike I just did some more laps no problems. Changed my vote to the other one now I have stopped crying. | (http://i60.tinypic.com/2vlqn8j.gif) (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2557.0) |
What about upping the tire pressure?
Tried all that even to extremes before the air temp was raised and it topped out about 62. Now its fine with realistic pressures.
Question to modern racers - what is the real optimum temperature of a wet Tyre . Pressure too. I know some favour increased pressure to 'sharpen' the leading edges but interesting to know if GPB optimums are close.
Tomorrow's race will be dependant on the main servers being rebuilt - watch out for news

(PSI)
wet.. front 34 cold..29 hot
rear 28 cold.. 29 hot
debatable in the wet.. some people use tyre warmers some dont.. personally i dont. pressures i prefer 32 front 32 rear.
dry.. front 29/32 cold.. 30/35 hot
rear 23/26 cold.. 25/28 hot
Absolutely no idea about temp's..
Thanks. Not sure I understand that front wet hot pressure as it doesn't follow the 'trend' - why is that?
its a good question! don't have an answer.. lol. all book figures from pirelli.
i dont use warmers in the wet.. because.. its wet! lol, very soft compound anyway.. you dont want lean angle..(maybe front doesn't generate enough heat with no lean angle) 1 tooth higher gearing (more acceleration) to compensate lower corner speed.
I have a bit of free time, finally! I try to learn the circuit ;D
Come on Blackheart I need someone to race with at the back haha!
;D
I return ... and we are offline! :P
Yessssssss 8) http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2565.0 ::) :(
Server still down. I guess we don't race?
FFS, The first race back after 2 weeks off and i can't race :P
Yes with the potential rain at Indianapolis too and possibility of running late we might have to scrub this event today. Lets see if we get any more news in the next couple of hours....
which is probably nothing more with the race today. 8)
waiting for new schedule

QuoteDue to the main PiBoSo servers still being rebuilt
Tonight's Race Event is CANCELLED
It will be rescheduled in due course
Regards Monti Boopsi
Club Chairman
A bit of a bumma that but these things happen I guess.
Good to read it will be rescheduled.
That's a shame... I was looking forward to racing on Silverstone in the rain! Lol ;D :(
I presume it's only been postponed, and will be rescheduled when the Piboso has sorted the main server out? :)
Hawk.
Initial discussions with the main man suggest this event will be run next Sunday.
And the club will have a fun race during the week too.
More details when known.

i cant make it tomorrow sorry nick!
Race Notice:
To ensure the track is at the correct level of water retention at the start of the event the server will be reset at 1 minute to 21:00 CET - IE: @ 20:59CET
assuming I remember.....
It is nearly Qually time - missing some riders who were here earlier - :o
DSQd because my served ridetrough wasn't recognized. And on top of that a 80sec penalty out of nowhere.
Fuck this game.
Core for me, I was fifth or sixth, I was improving lap after lap >:(
Boeren - yes I saw that penalty come up - harsh 80 seconds!!!!! Some shortcut!
Blacky - damn shame mate we all have some sob stories tonight.

I hope at least to see the replay, I was taking a rider in front of me, it was the most enjoyable part of my race and... core.exe !!!! ;D
Post Race report:
Really ace race generally ;D - loved the way you could 'feel' the track drying and braking and grip changing. Really impressed with that. Huge respect to Yan who decided to go on Dry tyres knowing the track would evolve in time. It was nice to pass him easily (for a change) then always in fear of him coming back as the track dried. Very very nice wet race IMO. On a more stable bike even better!
My sorry tale:
I ran out of fuel mid way round Lap 14 (of 16) - I have no idea why. I took 15 Litre after noting all through week that consumption was around 0.79L/lap. Others took 15 litre too. I was in 3rd place and catching fin whos tyres were worn out - it was a really nice race up until then. Now I try not to cry, one day I will get that race I am happy with hehe ;)
Alright race for me, finished where i started so all good :)
Had some issues, Huge fps drop when near other riders (same problem as a masino (i think), but not as bad) but it was bearable. A couple of times when the bike fell, the rear tyre would bite and keep moving the bike, only at 17-19kmh (oh yeh, my dash didn't work for some reason) which is just above the reset speed. again not a huge issue, only a couple of seconds wasted >:( :P . I even got 1st for a couple of corners! I'm getting better at starts :P
Probably could have been on tail end of the non-lapped if i hadn't fallen so much in the early race, But towards the last 5-6 laps, my times fell right down! Really found a good rhythm :D

Did you cut the last corner at anytime? There is heavy time penalties for doing that. ;)

congratulate Teeds for victory.
my tires were completely finished 5 laps before the finish. :o
better a wet race or a dry race. 8)
now we're going to assen. ;D

Best look at the replay and see where you acquired those time penalties that amounted to so much(80 sec's seems a lot!).

I think this kind of race was a lot of fun with a drying track and meant tyres had to be managed - much more realistic hehe
Where do you get this idea of Assen from???? LOL! Next race is SPA next Sunday and there are no details fro it yet (but will be soon)
ups sorry
i mean spa ;D
jep wos fun,all driver have the same probs :)
I had a great race! Great start from me; Jan crashed at the first corner which just left Matty in front and then he crashed at the 3rd corner which left me in 1st place for a good few laps until I crashed and someone passed me(didn't see who it was?).
Anyway... I ended in 3rd place, but could've easily finished higher had my tyres not given-up on me 5 laps from the end which caused me to have 3 falls..... But I'm happy with a podium place! ;D
Great race all around. Really enjoyed it! ;D 8)
Well done to teeds for the win! Nice one mate! ;D
Thanks to Nick for being a great host as always. Thank you Nick - Your doing a great job mate! ;) 8)
Looking forward to watching the replay(BTW. What figure do you set your replay buffer at... mine only recorded the last 7 mins. :'( )

Core.exe if I click on the replay :o
I am re-uploading give it 5 mins (it is possible the file was partial due to DB reaching limit).
If it still wont work I will attempt to trim it down to just the race
thanks 2 all i enjoyed it c u all at spar :)
nice one Doc! Well done for finish ;)
Teeds!!! Winning in the wet, nice one! ;)
Must be all that ripping around on mxbikes ;D hahaha good stuff.
I'm still getting core.exe when trying to play the new replay download. :'(
Hawk
Damn OK let me trim it up. If that don't work its for the bin
For some reason it is a huge file 997Mb??? - over 3 times bigger than normal even though our practice time was much shorter than that normally recorded.
Could this be because of the wet track? I'm afraid there is nothing I can do :( it wont load here either. Sorry.

That was only the last 3:32 of the race.... Started with me on the last corner and cross the finish line. Lol
It was only 46MB in size?
Hawk.
Wish I had remembered to save it on my Games PC and not just rely on the server. I will try to remember next time.
Matt - post your replay buffer size please this is interesting why the files are so big I can only assume it is the wet track?
Shit... umm
Ill have to look tommorow nick :-\
