Hi I am hoping someone can help, the quest 3 and virtual desktop looks really weird but never did on quest 2 and Pico 4 , is there anyway to open GP bikes in openxr and bypass steam vr?
I had the same issue, ideally PiBoSo would update the VR support so walkarounds aren't necessary.
@doubledragon, you've been messing around with VR since forever. Have you found anything that could work?
It was fine on my pico 4 and quest 2 so no idea what's changed lol
Same here, q2 and pico4 all ok. I vad the same warping issue on the Varjo XR3 and apparently big screen beyond does the same. Something with unsupported resolutions. Maybe try other res?
Thanks I will give it a try
Hi Chris where would I change the resolution? In steam vr or Gpbikes?
GPbikes resolution is dictated by VR application, so not there. Not sure it can be changed in steamVR? I was thinking of the VD app. Not sure it would help though..
HI guys. Chris, I am still using my WMR HP Reverb G2 until 2026 when Windows will stop it fully, but the 24H2 update later this year will kill it totally so Im sticking with 23H2 so I can use the G2 as I love it and its easy to use and brilliant.
I have a Quest 3 and have not really used it and am going to have to watch tutorials on how to use it lol.
I did try quiclly with Virtual Desktop but it was shite so did not go further.
I will look into it soon, but I have to get one of my R1M motion rigs finished and sent to Malaysia for the MotoGP at Sepang for a customer and Yamaha first plus a 6DOF system for a guy in UK.
I am still recovering from 2 heart attacks a few months ago so things are slow m8.
I do really want to get into using the Q3 as I want to use the passthrough for tutorial. I will let you guys know if I find a good solution to getting it working good in GPBikes.
On a side note, I love UEVR for Ureal Engine games and MotoGP and Ride are amazing in FULL VR.
Will keep my eye on this thread and update anything I find out.
Have fun guys.
Virtual Desktop is excellent, so I guess there is some, like we say in Sweden, shit behind the levers ;)
Well.. Excellent for anything other than GPB that is ;D
Malaysia sounds spectacular! Glad we got you started with motion!
Take care now DD, however cool projects they are nothing is worth another attack!
Thanks Chris,
I wear a monitor and check my ticker all the time lol.
Will have a look at trying my Quest3 again this weekend and report back
Thanks for all your help Chris on Motion. I ended up going with DOF Reality for now because my customers have to use MotoGP games for public use as thats what Yamaha is using with my other static system they have. Dorna calls the shots for MotoGP lol. BUT when I did the demo in 2019 for Dorna at UK MotoGP they were interested in using GPBikes in the future!!! Who knows may happen lol.
Just so you can see what MotoGP24 is like in VR:
Sorry for changing the subject of thread for a bit. Not hijacking it honest.
Back to VR now OK. Thanks
Have a great weekend guys

Did some testing with the Q3. No go on VD and GPB. No setting makes a difference. Warpy warp warp. Shame! I'd like to try the MR pass through.
I wonder if the pico4 ultra has fixed the scale in MR.. That would scratch the itch..
What is the exact order and settings you use to try and use GPB with the Q3?
I find order of programs being opened when using VR very important. If I have how you do it I can experiment a bit and see if I can find the right Hammer to use to make it work lol.
Are you only using wireless or have you tried with Link Cable as I am used to G2 having a cable and have a good link cable and will use that most of the time if it works for GPB?
DD
UPDATE:
So spent all day on this to try and help you guys out.
The Link Cable using Quest Link works 100% and looks the dogs bollocks. WOOP WOOP
BUT!!! I tried everything for Virtual Desktop and no joy. I trie andding a swith to the exe like old day where you could add -vro or -vrs.........no joy.
I think as the cable works it is the communication from VDT to the PC that is causing a problem or to Steam, just a thought.
I have to sit and drink some JD and ponder this a bit.
Will keep at it.
DD
I think you can let it go for now DD, only pibs can fix this. Thanks for trying though!
Ok Chris, but why does GPB work perfect in VR with link cable and not with Virtual desktop? Where is the problem? IS it GPB or Virtual Desktop thats the thing.
VD is just the wireless connection to the PC so how is it changing how Steam is launching GPB if you chose the Oculus launcher that works with the link cable but not wireless?
The Steam on the PC should load the same launcher and work fine but it is launching the Oculus launcher as if it is flatscreen and the Steam VR is worped?
To run Virtual Desktop Streamer (VDS) you have settings for VDS on PC the VDS on Quest3, the Steam settings on PC Where is the problem really. You cant just say it IS Pibs. I think it may be deeper and could be simple so will try to CHECK it is NOT VDS or Quest or Steam.
If I can help I will but not going to just give up LOL
DD
It's something with the resolution symmetry. Link and airlink works (oculus/meta native) but anything else like Steam Link or Virtual Desktop that goes through steamVR seems to have issues with fov/distortion. I only have it on GPB though.
I have talked to the developers of VD and they also refer to the openVR version used by gpb. Piboso only recommends using meta link/airlink
Yeah I just tried Steam Link and was the same.
You say Steam VR has a problem, so what is it that makes it work using the link cable?
I am not up on all this so I am kinda lost as why the cable works as it is using oculus vr and why it works using the cable and not with Vitual desktop as it is just like a flatscreen?
DD
SteamVR-mode via link cable you mean? Just starting the game in steam mode with the q3? Not sure I tried that.
OK, here is how I do it on the Quest 3:
Fresh start PC
Connect the link cable. Mine must be connected a certain way. 1. Plugin and connect Quest 3 charger to the cable junction box, 2. Plug in cable to Headset, 3 Plug the cable into a USB3 port.
Open Steam. Go to Library and select GPBikes. Do NOT press PLAY
Start Meta Quest Link on PC
Start and put on Headset
Go to Quick Settings and Start Quest Link. Make sure that the Air link Slider is OFF. Launch Quest Link
ON PC NOT HEADSET, In Steam Press Green Play button and select Oculus VR NOT Steam as it will warp lol
Ignor warning and click OK
RIDE
It works for me. I tried it loads of time.
Here is a link to the cable I ues. I get 2.8Ghz on it and the Headset stays fully charged AND it is only £17.99 not £89.99 like from Meta!!!
INIU Link Cable 5m with Separate Charging Port, VR Cable for Oculus Meta Quest 3 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BRQHN5MY?th=1&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&language=en_US&linkCode=gs4&linkId=60fc6f5f4aa8512dfaff8274fedb17d2&tag=vrmediaprod04-21)
Hope this helps as it is worth every penny.
It reads a lot to do but do it once its simple and works every time.
DD
Getting the game running with GPB is no problem at all. Works every time, plug&play.
The issue is when using Virtual Desktop. Well just have to wait and see if pibs wants to take a look at it
One thing I noted when using the quest3 and trying to use UEVR with Ride 4 and 5 it had the same sort of issue as GPBikes had that moving the head warped the picture but was not as extream??? In the G2 no warping so something is going on in Virtual Desktop and it is NOT only GPB as with the link cable it is fine. I will look at it more.
So far I prefer my G2 and am not a happy bunny with the Q3 in virtual desktop.
Even with the link cable I can not do MotoGP24 in VR with UEVR on quest3. There is defo something in the runtimes and whateva lol.
