I got the alternate layouts server feature to work but, as alternate layout tracks cannot be selected offline, it makes no sense to put different versions of a track within one folder, as offline riders wont be able to see and use them? Is it designed for some feature I overlooked?
if i'm not wrong, inside the main track folder you can put the alternate layout's folders but i don't know how to make the game recognize it
Yes Alby today I sussed out how to get it working no problems but my question is 'Why would we want to do this - especially as the alternate tracks cannot be accessed offline'. ???
Apart from keeping a tidier database (track variants inside one folder) I can't think of a reason it would be useful. :-\
What do you mean by "cannot be accessed offline"? It should be possible to choose it for testing.
One advantage would be that you don't need the .map file another time.
Offline = Testing mode. Only the top level of track appears in the dropdown list, there is no option to choose 'alternative layouts' ?
Yep the .map file is a good point but its still pretty worthless unless players never want to practice offline.
I think there is something wrong with the track.
If you want to try tracks from KRP in GP Bikes: there are tracks with layouts included. And the second layout of Zuera for example definitely shows up in Testing for me. Also you can try to compare the file structure.
Edit: You could download Zuera from the Track database as well.
Okedoke will do that thanks.
Aha yes I see that works offline too! Clever stuff so maybe there is a point other than a tidy database - it saves space by not having to duplicate certain files.
So now to wonder why the GPBikes specific track is not working like Zuera. I can work that out I reckon.
Thanks Steven, I know little about track creation so appreciate you taking the time there m8. :)
Edit : Yeh got it to show up offline now too but it just crashes core.exe when connecting. When I see that now I switch off lol.
