Post by: doubledragoncc on July 26, 2016, 04:03:44 PM
Assen GP500 Wet Race

HI guys very late posting but Nick is off on VayKay so gonna try a squeeze one in for him.

(http://www.pending.me.uk/cd/pin_1469646000.png) (http://www.pending.me.uk)

Read the server Rules noted at the bottom

Max. 18 players
Class: GP500
Bike(s): 500_1998_MZ-ROC_B8,  500_1999_MUZ_B8, GP500_Honda_NSR_1995,  GP500_Honda_NSR_2001 and the Varese_v594 for GPBikes Beta 8.

The NSR500 2001 had no wet tyre so Matty and I sorted it out between us and you will need to update your 2001 NSR if you do not download the complete set. Download and unzip the folder . Copy and paste the 4  files from the folder into your NSR500 2001 folder and hey presto you got wets for it.

Matty made it possible to have soft and wet tyres so he deserves the most credit.

Update Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/o3oootr594ndmqc/Honda_NSR500_2001_Wet_tyre_MOD.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/download/o3oootr594ndmqc/Honda_NSR500_2001_Wet_tyre_MOD.rar)

This means that you will get a bike mismatch if you do not do this so let me know as it is only fair guys who want to ride the 01 can.

NO "Iannone Moves" No ramming up the bottom or in the side due to being a dick!!! This type of move will result in castration with a very blunt knife!!!

Its only my 2nd race hosting so be kind and forgive my sorry old ass for any mistakes. I will do my best.

Here you go Hawky. It was a real pain with the stripes and I tried 5 different paint jobs but decided to compromise and keep the paint matching the lines of the bike. The panels are shite for this kinda job for me. I suck lol

I know it couldn't have been an easy job painting a colour scheme for a bike it wasn't designed for, but you've done a brilliant job with that mate!  ;D

Beautiful! Thank you very much DD, appreciated mate!!  ;D 8)

Catch you in the race tonight mate!  ;D

I will try but have much to do and all paint but yours are in the database. Will do me best chappie.

If it makes your ride in GPB a bit more personal and better all work is worth it.

@dd: right now UK time is *not* GMT time (you're on BST, British "Summer" Time, which is GMT+1).

UK London time is the one to watch for UK-ers

Post by: doubledragoncc on July 27, 2016, 07:49:54 AM
Thanks Max I put UK london on the timer so not sure what happened thanks for pointing it out

DD

EDIT: It is the timer site. For some reason no matter what time zone you put in, it always turns it to UTC??? FUCKERS
Title: Re: Assen GP500 Wet Race
Post by: HornetMaX on July 27, 2016, 08:00:26 AM
The timer is good, it shows the GMT/UTC time plus 6 others (ACT, CET, UK , ...).
The problem is in your text: you say "Wednesday       20:30 UK GMT - RACE START": it should be either "20h30 UK time" or "19h30 GMT".

I always used CET for everything or its confusion central lol.

Thats because I did not realise that there is a problem with the timer. It will NOT let me set it to UK London time on the site page It is not me its the fucking timer.

Not got a controller set up as been working and testing Matty's system components.

Besides I would spend all my time on my ass in the wet lol.

Seriously though I wish I was racing but it has been a very hard time for me the last few  weeks and really not had time to even ride more than just doing some tyre tests and paint tests.

Yay! 19 laps of intense concentration. Tyres were only half worn by the end but the low fuel load (I believe) was responsible for the last 4 laps extreme wobbles and crashes.

A great race for me and a fitting end to my time here before 'Vacation'.

Thanks to all who raced and special mention to "PP" who is new and was hot on my heels most of the race!

Well I thought I'd start out steady in the race from the back of the grid to avoid and pass the inevitable fallen riders in the first few corners..... That part of the plan worked well.  ;D
Second part was to then gradually push harder and harder as the race progressed, but after 3 crashes myself, my tyres were shot through overheating due to the crashes(front tyre was at 140), and despite doing some really slow laps to try and cool them down , nothing seemed to work. The front tyre just kept breaking away at ridiculously slow speeds through a corner, so I decided to call it a day after 9 or 10 laps I think it was.  ::)

Anyway I still enjoyed it and enjoyed watching the race in live replay from the pits.  ;D

Congrats to "Last Man Standing", Nick.... We'll have to call you the "General" from now on mate! But well done!  ;D

Hard luck to PP... You were going really well till you ran out of fuel on second to last lap. Your pretty quick and did great mate!   ;D

So onto the next race now DD.... What's next?  ;D

Thanks for the kind words guys. It was a real trial by fire for me considering I've never been to one of your races and having never ridden a 500cc let alone on a wet Assen track.

Congrats to Nick on winning and the crazy pace he was pulling all race. Hopefully next time my bike won't guzzle up all the fuel before the end.

Now you are asking for trouble. Lol

I'm easy really, but what about Silverstone, but have it so it's not raining all the time so the track risks creating a dry line towards the end of the race..... Now that could be interesting for strategy! Hehe.  ;D

But as I say, I'm easy whatever track you or someone else want to use.  ;) 8)

Hi tchemi..........

So sorry your race got the dreaded jump start boot. It is something you have to know. You need to stay still and if you put the bike in gear or do anything before green it makes the bike move a bit and you get a jump start. It sucks big time and hopefully Piboso will sort it out.

Not your fault bro, your new and it takes time to learn it all and it has happened to us all.

Stick with it and the next race will be far better for you and we will help you m8.

Have a try on the Road bikes tchemi, the track is new and great to ride.

You need the ZXR250, 916 A5, 955 A4 and NR750 to join the servers for road bikes btw

And its dry lol

You may want to try so practice race starts. Go on an empty server and in the menu you can chose to go to a race.

Select that and then it will simulate a race start and you can do that as many times as you like to get used to the start procedure. :)

Just not tested it to see the actual procedure GPB uses.

If I recall correctly, jump start = pass-through pit penalty

But if you cross the start/finish line before the green light you are immediately DSQ.

Sometimes it only takes a very slight little movement of the bike during the start countdown procedure to give you a "Jump Start" or other penalty, even disqualification.

My advice(this is what I always do) would be to put your bike into 1st gear before the race start countdown(10 secs) and stay absolutely still, then the lights show; still stay absolutely still till the green lights show, and don't try and be a sharp shoot starter... always give yourself a split second delay after the lights turn green to be safe.  ;)

Don't worry, with a little practice and experience you'll get the hang of it and get a feel for it's quirks and exactly how it works, for sure. We've all been through this stage, so we all know how you feel.  ;)

@Max: Not always the case. This is what's confusing about it, in that sometimes you only get a pit-lane ride-through penalty for jump start(not crossing the line but just moving in some way during start procedure)yet other times you get a jump start penalty or disqualification and kicked out of the race.  :-\

Even when you get the ride through it is impossible to know as it is only shown in the chat bar at the top of the screen and who looks there when trying to ride FFS.

Piboso needs to add a pit board big enough to bee seen plainly that appears to warn you of the ride through until you actually do it!!! Its that simple. The chat bar warning sucks balls. The jump starts suck bigger balls!!!

Borenlaters start last nite was brilliant.

Yes that was a deflation in your start Bman but it was a brilliant start, loved it

DD

EDIT: Because of his amazing starts and to save me saying such a long name on the live streams, Borenlater is now known as "BLADE" for being like a hot knife through butter on his starts.

Yep I always thought I was a good starter but Blade is phenomenal with starts and always has been!

How!?  ;)

As I don't like riding 2-strokes 500cc (sorry, I'm "arcade-boy"), I found a way to ride them in the rain. I was just releasing throttle during shifting up gears, but I did it during ~10k RPMs to avoid rear wheel sliding. It helped me very much, but crashing on kerbs was very annoying.

Anyway, I hope to see Moto3 bikes in the future and another wet race.

now, i'm confused.
does this launchcontrol option really exist in gpb?

@gzehoo: it also helps with the motogp bikes. and not just in the wet.

But the tyres can not take a drying track!!!

Vin tested it and when the track is not wet enough the tyres overheat big time. I dont think we have the tyres yet to do such a race without massive problems. Even in the race where the track conditions meant that the tyres would not overheat, a crash would still overheat them and even the wet track did not cool them. A drying track with be effecting the tyre before any crashes and then crashes will totally kill them.

I think we still need to have tyres developed for wet racing scenarios.

Due to this I think it is only practical to hold dry races until tyres can handle drying tracks better or we end up with tyre fucked withing 5-6 laps

Plus we had a race on Silverstone but Brno has had no races and just been updated?

Hawk will need a race to be able to use his new DevilYam too so guess we are stuck on 500's lol

I reckon I could make a nice set of intermediates for such conditions but a project for the future unfortunately. Damn I really want to try that now! Drying track dreams - or even wetting track dreams lol.

What about smaller bikes like the Japanese S80 do those also have these wet/dry problems?

Small bike race was one of the last ones and we still have not tried the new Ducati 916 or 955 for a race or Brno

I was just thinking something new for once

Cheeky get! Don't you dare! Lol!  ;D
I'm quite happy to wait a few years for that to be implemented. Put that one at the back of the cue I'd say Piboso! Hehe! :P ;D
But I would say it could easily be done via setting the auto-cluth to give a fast pull-away from a standing start anyway, yes? But a lot of people wouldn't like that I suspect as it negates the need and skills for using a manual clutch start. Just a little bit unfair and pointless to have launch control in my book.  :P

I generally prefer to start at or near the back of the grid anyway to avoid the often inevitable first corner kamakazi pile ups, hence I often don't even bother to do the qually session.... I'd rather go and have a smoke. Lol.  :P

Surely there are bikes released with working wets? Are they all crap? Lol  :o

No. A true launch control would be more sophisticated than that.

Totally agree Max..... I should have qualified that sentence by saying it would be a quick way of doing it. A quick fix if you like.  ;)
