Post by: janaucarre on January 04, 2014, 08:53:09 AM
GPBikes WIP Ulster GP
NO REPLAY
If you don't want a crash

Long: real    =>11,91   km
         game =>13.603 km

The fastest road race of the world. Locate in Ireland, Famous names as Mc Guinness, Guy Martin, Dunlop and other race on every year.
Advice: Begin with the R6 to learn the route, put wind to 43 km/h direction Sud West to have the maximu speed on the first straight and set the gearbox to the maximum(i go to 294 km/h).

I ask you say to me only the sites where you fall out of the track in nothingness, thank you. For the rest there is still too much things to do, don't give me reporting. Good ride.

LOVE THIS TRACK, It is brilliant to see this in game. This is the true test of Man and Machine, I can not wait to see this as a Hotlap event.  ;D

THANKS

I dont think those people that race this place are very sane :o

...Anyway... in the first big corner, with concrete blocks for safety ;D , if you slide on the grass it's ok, but if you slide on the tarmac you fall into nothingness. There's trees and more important buildings at th end of the lap that stick into the track.

Also a word of advice, dont use R6, caue if you fall the bike never falls with you ;D like a motorcycling tank  :P

when it happens, don't let the bike falling, escape immedatly. It will happens no more in future update, i will add more invisible walls along the track. I work about 2 hours for the walls existing. be patient.

Really love the track, great bumps and height difference everywhere. Really feels like i am riding the Isle of Man TT going around it.

The track surface itself is nearly perfect already. The surroundings need a little love and some invisible walls have to be placed to prevent us from falling of the edge of the world  ;D. Can't wait to play the final version and do some real racing around Ulster.

Hey Janaucarre, I was just wondering if you are still planning to do some work on this track and when we could see a new version? Really like this track because it is so different from everything else, but it needs a little love here and there to be ready for frequent use.

Since you are doing so many tracks at the same time, I am a little worried that you are doing too much on different tracks and sometimes do not have any time left to really finish them. Do not get me wrong, I REALLY appreciate you doing all this work for the community, but I would rather see 1 track completely finished, than 10 tracks that still need work. New tracks are always fun to ride but I think most of us prefer track that have been given a lot of attention to detail.

Keep up the good work, can't wait until Ulster GP V1  :D ;D

Hello, i'm on, i'm on. The problem is that i have the asphalt, grass and walls one part, and all other thing in another part, and if i put them together the textures mix together, so i need to change all the id material of each part of the asphalt, walls and grasses and after that to find wich texture goes where(because the names of textures are not the names of parts as in a rf conv.)it takes monstruous time to do it. This night i passed about 7hours on this and to find the technic to use. Feel reassured, i'm on it. I make many tracks because i don't like to do the same thing everytime and because each tracks have different problems to resolve an i learn new things every day on how to do.
Thank you for the encouragements.
If someone would make the cameras and the marshals(with my tutorial) for mosport, i will end this track definitely and post a version for gpb wrs and krp.

Thanks for the reassuring words there  :D.

It is good to know that you are learning new things every time so you'll get better at solving those problems. There is no need to hurry but as Ulster is really unique I just can't wait to play it. Keep up the good work and good luck with your modding.

The best track of the game; just amazing.

Yeah, mostly start up Ulster when playing GP bikes. It is just such an amazing track with all the bumps and high speed corners which makes it one of the only tracks i play offline. It is just that those concrete blocks (on the track) and placeholder textures that make it a little less attractive for videos and such.

Hope he has time to fix this one because its a diamond in the rough

Hi,
I can upload a new version but really not finished so i prefer to send this one to hawk_uk for finish it if he's ok.
Some trees across the road, no more invisible walls at this moment, new asphalt texture but too much clean, wrong textures on many objects...etc...

Hi Janau.

I've got a lot of work to do at the moment... Me and Peter are working together on "Assen Dutch TT Circuit 2014"(Scratch build) and I'm also working my 1982 500cc Yamaha YZR OW60 to finish too(Long overdue. Lol).

But by all means send me the files Janau and I'll have a look at it and see what I can do in between times(It's good to work on something else to have a break at times. Lol)  ;)

Hawk.

Yeah me too, when i play gpbikes nowadays it is usually on this track. By far the most challenging to ride as far as I know. Some graphical updates and fixing some small bugs/sinkholes would make this one legendary  :D

Love to see this completed in high graphic detail as the track already seems to flow nicely. I have been riding this track a lot in GP500 (GPL conversion) and it is what led me to discover how much GP bikes has evolved. The road tracks give a real feel of speed when your flying along under the trees and the shadows on the road go a long way to improving the illusion on the GP500 track.

I love it, can't stop trying to beat my times!

Please tell me you didn't drop the project!  :'(

Hope they continue with this, its excellent in GP500 with all the graphics sorted :)

Hope there are no issues with this being a port from an existing track  (reading between the lines)

Just looking in my folders, the GP500 track is credited to Grooveski and the folder contains all the artwork to finish the track quite quickly. Maybe he would give permission for use of the artwork to finish this version to a reasonable level. I find the giant spectators and huge geometric blobs in the landscape tend to spoil the sense of immersion a bit   ;)

There should be a GP500Form.txt stating that it's a conversion and the original GPL readme.txt with Jim's copywrite statement.
Easy for files to go missing but that's what it was released with.  None of it is mine to give away.

OK, I was not sure if you redrew all the artwork to suit GP500. How does JP manage to produce all that on his own? Dundrod and IOM need such a vast amount of textures - Does he draw it all freehand ? must take ages to do.
