Title: Any Cruisers?
Post by: lv13101993 on May 01, 2017, 12:40:47 AM
I know it sounds odd but seems like it would be a fun idea to try some crazy stuff on a cruiser

Nope. And I believe, that myself included, most people here hate cruisers, haha. Of course, never say never.

Well that looks pretty good! I'm certainly not opposed to somebody reviving it, haha.

Roodney left the community a long time ago (Can't remember why exactly but he always rubbed people the wrong way) so it's unlikly he's about to give the bike over

Hopefully someone kept a copy.

Can't remember what version I had with this thing, but someone that knows modding could probably do whatever is required to get this thing in the current beta. I may have increased engine power output a bit.... no idea where to even find the original engine file... whatever, here's what was on the hard drive, can't believe I still have it.

https://mega.nz/#!Z14VCKAR!OXKWtcS6TiiDD3WGbljJKEJxtyWYXr1UCKwndksZ9g0

IIRC, there was two versions, this one I uploaded with the slash cut pipes and more detail... and the original upload that had a turbocharger and a bunch of small things missing. The current suspension and chassis possibilities in GP Bikes could actually make this thing handle like the real thing.

Rodney's departure was unfortunate. It seems he had quite a useful skill of scratch-building 3D models in short amounts of time. Had he remained, he would have proven to be an invaluable member of the modding community. It seems he certainly was, at the time. Some forum members need to take care about who they mistreat, and subsequently wind up pushing out, of a forum.

No he just used to kick off like a child.

Okay we lost a modder but others have replaced him so no issues there.

Also scratch built was a bit of a stretch...

That's good to hear. Would you consider making a high-displacement and much more powerful version?

I can look into it and see what version it came from, but I think it was the version before Beta 7b. Meaning it likely requires the stand file stuff, and as well, anything that changed in the files to bring mod bikes over to current beta's after the pit stand stuff was added. The new rigid suspension and chassis flex could actually turn this mod bike into a really nice rider (despite the peg grinding everywhere it goes at lean angle).

(wow, finally figured out the embed code without copy and pasting from another quoted reply. gonna be a good day!  ;D)

Urban, I'm pretty sure the engine power I put into it was equal to a S&S 110ci crate engine, compared to the wimpy little iron 1200 mill that was original to the bike. Two engine maps for it (big fire breathing V twin, and a close to stock Sporty 1200 engine) would give this bike a really nice feel. I live (literally) about 100 miles from Milwaukee, so I live with the HD crowd being everywhere. Way more into Japanese stuff myself, and I like the Italian ladies, but a little piece of me will always enjoy the slow and steady of a cruiser from time to time. Can't bring myself to own one, but anytime someone hands me the keys I don't turn it down.  ;)

It will be easier to almost start from scratch for this as the .cfg is so outdated but it wont take long to get the bike up and running in B11b

Like you say with rigid rear and other things that have come since this could be an okay bike.

We just need a large open-world city track for GP Bikes. I know that would make everyone quite happy. Ideally, a collaboration of track modders for that very purpose is would be great.

Been asking about this so we could do pub to pub racing and more for a city and country road enviroment but it will not work as GPB uses a closed loop to count laps or something like that

Would love this kinda open world like the crew and gta put togeather lol

That doesn't matter at all. It's definitely not something which would prevent an open-world GP Bikes track from being built.

Also: Did you know you can explore the surrounding city streets and buildings in GP Bikes' Macau track? They've not been properly built-up, but still, they can be explored, and there are some decent-looking areas in its off-track city sections.

Unfortunately UC, at 53, static objects dont make a scene come alive I need movement man lol

I actually need a cruiser for a few people that want to try them with my controller in GPB including using a set of high bars and even a set of apehangers for some lol. The Texas Police are willing to invest money in a program that has pedestrians and traffic for their rider awareness program .

A cruiser is not a bad idea and even if some dont like them many do. I hope this gets made but with a much better design. I've professionally custom built Harleys and Jap bikes for over 25 years so would love to see one of mine in GPB lol.

Static objects are better than nothing, you know. That Vice City map with a few cars and pedestrians sprinkled onto it would make for an excellent free roam map for GP Bikes. That much is a fact.

Think about it: You and LV, cruising around on some cruisers in Vice City, while I and few others shoot past you two on sport bikes, haha.

AS long as their are a few bars to race between, after all that is why most custom Harleys are known as bar hoppers

I got asked to do the UK version by Discovery Channel but when they told me it was with OCC I told them to go fuck themselves!!!

They wanted me to design, build and pay for the bike and all expenses (ca £50,000)and then act like I did not know what I was doing and keep asking Paul Senior for advice. I hate that twat with a passion and can not stand to be in the same room as the c***

They destroyed he industry and commercialized it, fucking pricks even nearly killed a customer and his son with poor workmanship but paid their way out of it!!!!

Oh feck! Yeah, definitely a bum deal DD..... They should've included the bike build as part of the expense of making the series I would've thought? As well as just filming the UK series from your side of things and how you go about doing things rather than try and mix it up with the American series OC guys...... Shame; that would've been interesting and entertaining to watch I'm sure!

Was a hard profession choice to make but I have spent 25 years building with passion and not for money. There is more involved than many know. The wheels for smooth took me weeks to get the right design and then have them plus rotors and sprotor made by RMD in USA.

I miss it but not having to deal with dickheads like OCC lol

I hope we et some good cruisers in GPB and an open world area as it would be very useful for me business wise as well as fun.

Shame we cant mix WRS and MXB and GPB in one sim, that would be the bollocks and I would have though Piboso could do it as he makes all the sims

Absolutely agree with you on that one, DD. It should be one sim, not a whole bunch of different ones. Maybe via DLCs, but still one sim.
Would certainly be great to see one of your bikes in it too. I, for one, vote for the Devil's Luck :)

Maybe there would be more sense to make one for MXB instead? At least the position on supermotards is more upright.

Need just from the Piboso team a new riding style, with animations less "racing" because also with the classic the result is not good for some not usual bikes (cruisers, SM, scooters, etc...)

I agree. Furthermore, a proper riding style editor would definitely help, or at least Piboso could disclose his animations format so that others could make such an editor. Also would be nice to be able to switch between the styles on the go...

What Blacky says is true but only for rider animation. In real life as long as the bars are below the shoulder and your arms are pointing down to the bars the control of the bike is perfect for most riding but you need to be leant more forward to keep the front down, otherwise a streetfighter can take on a sportsbike no problem, it is down to how big the riders balls are!!!

QuoteSeriously guys after doing over 25 years pro building I think you aint got a clue when it comes to street fighter with an HD style setup. This is a sweet design so fook you all....................BIG LOL just windin you up BUT tis true. Besides some of us are real bikers lol

?

+1... what the.... confused about the point you were trying to make there DD.  ???

Knowing pretty much everything there is to know about 'fighters due to being a big part of the North American Street Fighter scene, I've gotta say (and the old English guys I know agree) that it really depends on the date on the calendar and where in the world you are standing, as to what a street fighter is. Back Street Hero's had coined the name a long time ago, and the bikes in the article look NOTHING like what the Aussies, Americans, and everywhere else considers a 'fighter nowadays. Although, at the time that BSH was publishing that article, there was bikes all over the planet of that style... they just finally had a name.

DD hit it on the head that a good rider on a fighter could humiliate the fastest bikes out there that you can purchase at the dealer. When you combine the most monstrous engine with the best brakes, suspension, and tires, then dump it all into a custom frame with all the right geometry and ergo's, it is like a motorcycle on a 10 day meth bender shooting 'roids... hence why they are "fighters".

The arguments that happen over builders forums get out of control at times... but like said, depends on if this is 1996, or 2017, and where on the planet you are standing, as to what a streetfighter is... but the fact will always remain, the English coined the term, and it was describing bikes that look nothing like the current average on the scene at this point. :)

Remember guys, ain't alot of us out there, so....

Shameless plug for the best motorcycle community I've ever been part of. So much talent past and present on there. I'm the hooligan legend known as, "RatFighter". 8)
