Title: gpb could look like...
Post by: moeppling on January 29, 2015, 12:39:41 PM
...this.

Added bloom, dof, sharpen, SSAO, vignette and some tonemapping. Actual In-Game footage, unretouched and without any photoshop alterations.

Using ReShade + SweetFX + MasterEffect 1.0.340.
A shame that a nasa supercomputer is required to run this smoothly, MasterEffect tanked the framerate from ~110 to beneath 20. Marty McFly (creator of MasterEffect ;D) announced some major performance inprovements for MasterEffect this year.

pretty good looking example you made.
would be nice if gpb would go a little bit in that direction.
how much work is it to implement such effects?

I've got to admit, it does make the game look better, would be great for vanity/advertising shots

The lens flare shader is not active. What you mean is bloom and just like in real life, it blinds you. The only problem is, that its not present in the game by default.

Not to difficult if you stay away from more advanced shaders.

Download http://www.mediafire.com/download/c1zxl4j1bjk6jb6/ReShade+0.13.2+Public+Beta.7z
Open the archive, rename the 32 bit dll to OpenGL32.dll and copy it into your GPB folder (with the *.exe)
Download http://www.mediafire.com/download/qczytunfn1zwrjc/MasterEffect+1.0.340+Public.7z
Copy the 4 files in the subfolder and paste them into the same folder.

In the file ReShade.fx you can activate/deactivate shaders and customize them. I can post my *.fx if you want to.

The depth of field was in "macro"-mode for the screenshots. Its much more subtle in 1st/3rd Person view.

which options should i active?

I recommend Bloom and Borisvignette.

The effects can and should also be adjusted in the same file.

if you have a really powerfull machine (i7 2xxx / FX 8xxx & r9 290 / gtx 970) then activate ssao. DoF requireds some work.

Thanks dude thats better than standard. SSAO drops the framerate by about 10FPS on my system, i7 3.2Ghz 16GB Ram GTX670M 4GB DDR 5.

How can you increase the way that it gives lens flare as if the sun is hitting the visor?

It might sound masochistic but I like the reality of the sun blinding you for a bit, its just more realistic.

Great add-on should be standard with GPB

You mean lens flare or bloom? two pairs of shoes.
Lens flare is mosty one-directional/horizontal and is created thru reflections (in real life, this injector cant [yet?] distinguish light sources). In combination with bloom it can look good, but i do not recommend it.
Bloom is circular and originates from all light sources.

For Lens Flair set the activation-boolean to 1, then search for the attributes of lens flare. Change the Treshold to about 0.95 - 0.98 and set the Amout to 8 - 10. I cant promise good results

For Bloom try a higher treshold compared to the current, about 0.9 - 0.93 and increase the amount to 16 - 18. It might also enhance non-sun light sources, depending on their brigtness.

If you cant understand something, i can try to explain it further. English is not my native language.

with sharpen, tonemapping, technicolor, bloom, vignette, lens dirt and ssao my framerate drops by ~ 60-70%

Thankyou for making that clear moeppling. It is good to learn something every day and that was my morning lesson lol. I will try it out thanks.

Keep it sunny side up..............with lens flares or bloom I do not know...................YET lol

Looks good, but 20 FPS = no way.

What hardware do you have ?
Is there a combo that gives decent results without hitting the framerate that much ?

7970 Ghz @ 1100/1475 MHz
AMD PII 955 BE @ 3,8 GHz
16 GB Ram
Win7 64

The framerate with those mods really depends on the location. 110 > 20 fps was measured on victoria, first right turn after comming out of the pits. In the Pits themself the framerate dropped "only" from 120 > ~60. I think its because of the SSAO, something about it is really buggy. Deactivating it solves the framedrops.

But well, looks good!!  ;D

btw: i was talking about framedrops, not the average framerate. I mixed it a bit up in the first post.

edit: Does anyone else have this problem when disabling ssao / dof?

weird sharder-bugs everywhere. Curbs are grey, the road looses part of its texture etc... ? I cant get it right :/

OK, gotta plan a day of vacation to test all this stuff :)

Haven't tried yet. Probably worth a report to ReShade author.
I noticed that in the changelog for future v0.14 (http://reshade.me/forum/releases/7-public-beta (http://reshade.me/forum/releases/7-public-beta)), a lot of fixed issues are on openGL ...

how to install?

Heres the Install instructions Davide

Download http://www.mediafire.com/download/c1zxl4j1bjk6jb6/ReShade+0.13.2+Public+Beta.7z
Open the archive, rename the 32 bit dll to OpenGL32.dll and copy it into your GPB folder (with the GPBikes.exe)
Download http://www.mediafire.com/download/qczytunfn1zwrjc/MasterEffect+1.0.340+Public.7z
Copy the 4 files in the subfolder and paste them into the same folder.

In your main GPB folder look for Reshade.fx

In the file ReShade.fx (This can be opened with notepad, edit then save)you can activate/deactivate shaders and customize them. I can post my *.fx if you want to.

I recommend Bloom and Borisvignette.

The effects can and should also be adjusted in the same file.

if you have a really powerfull machine (i7 2xxx / FX 8xxx & r9 290 / gtx 970) then activate ssao. DoF requireds some work.

ssao really needs a fast PC

Hope this helps m8
