I thought it would help, show how I make my skins. The procedure is always the same, in this case I make the Simoncelli Helmet for the default helmet.
The helmet paint can be found HERE (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=2781.0)
Warning:
- The software used is Photoshop CS6
- My software is in Italian, but you understand the functions are very simple and basic.
- The video is not accelerated so it is a bit long, so I have divided it into 5 parts from about 8-9 minutes.
- The first two parts are the coloration, and the layers structure, The remaining concern the application of stickers and other details.
- I tried not to use hotkeys (shortcuts) to make the video understandable as possible to anyone.
- Video colors are not 100% real, it is due to compression of the video.
- Is advisable to put the video quality as high as possible and fullscreen (It is the first time that i rec the desktop and is not perfect).

It was nothing special mate :P
It was a basic tutorial on how to pack skins, not actually make them ::)

Ty SuperT ;)
The only advice that i can add to the video, is save files .tga to 24 bits (to 32 could cause problems in the game). GL ;D
I failed even before starting to it lol :D I want to make my skin on Pista GP helmet. But it got two .psd files. One is livery and the other one is visor. I'm opening livery but it's not the same with yours. (of course helmets are different but I don't know what to do) Teach me master :D

That's because he's using the Default helmet :P
It probably has the best template and is the easiest to learn with. ;D

Yeah but I really hate default helmet. It's not symphatic like the AGV :P Then I'm waiting for another tutorial or just a little explanation :) Thank you :)
The default is in any case the best helmet, for two simple reasons:
1_ It is the only one with a perfect template.
2_ It is the only one with a 3D model free of defects.
However with AGV Pista GP the operation is the same, without template only changes that it takes more time and the work is less accurate. :P

Have you tried painting the
Shark Race-R Pro? The templates are a nightmare to work with; a lot of Photoshop distortion work to get wording and paint lines to line up properly. :o
But that was the best helmet to fit the old classic design that I have, so I had to use it.
I just wish there were some old Classic Helmets.... Yes, even the old Piss-Pots! Hehe ;D
Hawk.
If for make a helmet paint usually takes me an hour, without a good template/model could take days :o
But im lucky, my favorite helmet paints are perfect for the default ;D

I have a question for that: Is there a 3D software for preview the helmet model with .tga or .dds inserted like 3dsmax? Nowadays I'm using the "primitive or classic" mode which is: use PaintED packaging and launch core.exe ;D ;D ;D
In principle it is possible by creating the 3d model for PS :P
For example, as has been done HERE (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/photoshop-3d-models-for-modding-your-own-design-part-1.686/) (in this case are bikes models, but the matter is the same)

Hi Reactive! Long time no see... How you doing mate?
Nice to see you back! ;D 8)
Hawk.
no problems, keep trying guess straight lines on pelt UV`s instead of drawing directly on model ;)
Hello, Hawk!
Glad someone missed me, hehe. Many changes in this year in many aspects. :P
Lazy modeling Midual (last difficult step is need to finish crankcase) and Munch Mammot, and some personal things :P
Of course there are for GPBikes.
Looking very good mate so far mate! Are you planning to bring them into GPB? ;D
Hawk.
I think it (SB) would be more useful for make the suits, but I do not know if it is possible.
Bump to the top ;)
hello,
Need some help, i'm learning about skinning, and I am following this video tutorial+the skinning tutorial.
But when looking at the helmet in game menu it does not appear, its still grey default helmet, but I can choose my skin in menu.
Am I forgetting something before saving in CS6 to .tga-file.
Where do I do it wrong?

Yepp I think so. I have read it over an over again.
I have used default helmet as base, and followed the steps. but I couldnt make it work. :-(
Now I tried to use default_rossi_sepang_2005 skin, and change it. And that worked. :-), using the same steps as before.
I have to use someelses helmet paint as base and change.
Is there a link for default helmet skin?

The .tga needs to be named helmet.tga
Put that in a .pnt file as shown in the tutorial
and then put that in the GPbikes\rider\helmets\default\paints\ folder in your GP bikes directory
