Title: Current FBX version ?
Post by: h106frp on February 11, 2016, 12:55:54 PM
For the exporter, what is the current release of FBX supported.

Very useful app for independently checking (and tweaking) exported models before conversion   :)

But it has raised the issue of version support - most programs (including Blender  >:(  ) have dropped support for very old versions and this might be a big problem for me and my model   :(   :'(

PiBoSo said FBX SDK 2015 is used.

The FBX versions used by Blender (6.1 and 7.4) both do work with the fbx2edf converter at least.
I tried the programm you mentioned and it seems it just works with 7.4 from Blender.

There is also a programm called "Autodesk FBX Converter". You can try this when you are having problems with the FBX version.

Thanks for the info, glad to know the export/convert should be OK with PB's tools

Been trying PB's stand alone converter;

I think the 7.4 'binary' file mode does not work with PBs tool - it just crashes

Tried with the 6.1 'ascii' file mode and it ran OK - but this is too old to work with the viewer  ::)  nothings ever simple  >:(

Also confirm it wont run (crashes) if you do not create a full UV map for the model

It does not seem to like files exported from Blender with export scaling, model needs to be scaled in the designer and exported at unity scale
