Title: TSF Raceway v0.5 Download

Here is the download for the very early version. Give it a test and let me know if you find any issues.

To install. Change the file extension from pkz to zip and extract to World Racing Series/wrs/tracks folder. (You may have to create the tracks folder if you have not installed any other tracks before.)

Known issues:
- Stutter/frame drop coming out of corners 2 and 4
- shading issue on outside wall
- Timing is not working for some reason. Any idea's anyone has would be great.

I get a Core.exe when trying to load the track. I'm not sure what the problem is.

As for timing make sure you have your splits set up and make sure you extend the timing lines to reach the edges of your track.

Got the tack to load up, but it drops my frame rate significantly to the point i cant turn a lap with out it locking up.

I do have the splits and they spread all the way across the track. Not sure why I'm not getting time. I have not got any core.exe crash's But I do get the slow down. I'm going to work on that tomorrow. Just was way too tired today and had the kids all day so didn't get a chance.

Track looks nice so far.

Speed trap line is required for timing to work.

As far as the performance issues we'll need more information.  What size height map did you use, and what was the scaling in the THT file?  It seems like deformation makes it worse.  And being on the "groove" path makes it worse yet.  Side note, the game will make the groove for you, why pre define it?

If it's like GPB, so that when you restart the server the groove is there from the beginning.

4097 heightmap. Scaling is 6.05

Speed trap line is not in, so that is the timing issue. I didn't see much info on it in wiki so I didn't touch it. Easy enough fix I suppose!

As far as pre defined, I just think it's unrealistic looking to have absolutely zero tire tracks around a track to start. Think of it as the track being packed in before the races.

What is the horizontal size of your track? When I was testing I experienced major slow downs when my size vs pixels was too fine. My map is 400m by 400m with a resolution of 2049x2049. It works out to a scale of .195m per pixel in the heightmap (horizontally).

440m is my terrain size. When you had the slowdown was it only in certain spots? Mine seems to be only in the corners, mostly on exit, and the lower line you run, the worse it gets.

If I remember correctly it slowed down the most whenever the most deformation was occuring. Like sliding or spining your tires. I attributed the slow down to the amount of points that were being deformed at once. Your terrain size is almost the same as mine but it is 4 times the resolution. That would mean 4 times the amount of points for deformation. I believe that significant increase in calculations for deformation is what is causing the slow down.

When testing were u in practice mode? I've noticed that if your in practice mode slow down is bad where if u do say a race by yourself there isn't as much issue

Hmm, that is very interesting. I was in testing mode. I will be working on the track tomorrow and trying to get the few things cleaned up. Then I will be moving on to getting my next track running in game. Model and heightmap are done for Duquoin so hoping to get these issues ironed out so I can get that one going.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys!

That's what I got told anyway.

Hey bison do I have your on fb I'm not sure who everyone is.  I really need to get cracking on tracks but lacking time and motivations watched the Chris Ellis video a million times to the point where my autocorrext knows what I'm about to type next. Just can't get it working

Yeah, we talked on FB a few weeks ago. I watched Chris's video's, and am thankful that he took the time to put something up there otherwise, there would be almost no information, but unfortunately a lot of what he talks about is either wrong, doesn't apply, or makes it far more confusing than it needs to be.

Im definitely willing to help you get your's running any way I can. I've got a pretty good grip on it and have got several tracks in now.
