I saw this in tutorials to use .tga textures so I converted everything to .tga.
Is it possible to use DDS textures and will it affect for fps?

It is possible to use DDS. There is no need to convert them to TGA.
No change in FPS.
It twill probably become more popular as the copyright expires, S3 still gets paid for its use at the moment
It is a lossy compression though and seems to need a lot of thought as to which compression to use for each texture or shader type
