Title: Matty's Auxiliary Switchgear
Post by: doubledragoncc on July 13, 2016, 03:49:23 PM
So as the heading says, this is for Matty's Auxiliary Switchgear units for his Hs2 Streetfighter system I am building for him.

I posted a 3D design of one, but as usual I hit my head against the wall a few times and came up with a slimmer and nicer design.

In the pic below the top one is the old design test plate, bigger and far longer to print, plus it would not look good from behind as it had no back.

The lower, slimmer one uses the buttons as part of the body to make it smaller and also give a better appearance from behind. The button caps just sit nice and snug on the buttons to provide a clean look. All wiring will be hidden too.

The next pics show the unit with and without the covers.

The button units can be mounted in any position on the bars and hve cutouts in the bridges for cables to pass through to keep it all tidy.

Printing the other unit now and will post pics of the different placements on the bars.

Bit behind on Matty's system as  I did a re-design of some things again..... ::) ;D

Hi guys so finally got round to do some pics of Matty's auxiliary button units. I made a smaller on to go under the throttle for right thumb use too now.

I re designed the clamps to also be for the cables to keep things cleaner.

Well off to do more work on this system as it is bloody hard to keep all the wiring pretty lol.

Yeah it took 3 prints to get it right so the bridge was strong enough but not bigger for the cables

Its a LOT or cables on the bars lol. Should be able to control most things from the bars without keyboard at all now.

Hi gys

So, as per normal I made a part for Matty,s system and then came up with a better idea for it. It was the Box for the BU0836X USB control board. Problem was with the walls of the BU0836X box made it hard to connect wire while in the box as you would normally have it and I did not want that so I reversed the normal box design and reversed it so the top was the bottom............

Now the USB board can be wired without removing it from being mounted on the system and makes life easier for Matty if he wishes to upgrade at any time.

The reason bhinde this is that unlike other boards from Leo the X version has lovely push in connection for wires. For those who dont know the best USB board in the world here is a pic:

It takes 4 times as many wires to do this system as it does for me to wire a custom bike with lights lol

Now it is time to sweet talk the 3D printer into making it without too much stress...........yeah right that will be the day  ;D
