Title: Silver Dollar w/ deformation
Post by: Phathry25 on January 04, 2017, 01:23:13 AM
I got a pack of tracks a while back that were all NDS, not sure who sent them over, but I said I would convert them to deformation.  Here's the first one.  It's a little rough, but that just makes it funner.  If some poor sap out there wants to know how to convert the rest they take an hour or so to do.  I'll show you how. :)

I've got the heigh map down pat but I'm having a few issues of getting objects in accurate points and then what to do from there

Sounds like you don't have it down pat.  :-*. I see tirespin just made a return from the dead. I think that's who passed me the tracks. Looks like he learned on his own while I had them set aside. I dodged a bullet here.

Man, that does look rough with the way it wore in. Looking forward to trying it though!

We should as a group put some sort of guide together. Even if it is just as simple as a helpful tips thread. It is important that we as a group are using consistent practices. Things like the resolution of the heightmap and order of the layers make a big difference.

That's a good idea torque at least if we are all consistent in our approaches track quality will be kept high.

Depending on which program used will be a factor on the approach currently the mxbikes tutorials are currently all focused on L3DT and blender were personally I use max.  What programs are other using? Once I've learnt the process to a point were I can replicate it repetitively I'd like to make some max video tutorials. But I still have some more learning to do at this stage

We have a silver dollar server up right now if people are interested in running some laps.
