Title: Problem with beam suspension
Post by: Obelix90 on November 19, 2017, 01:45:25 AM
Hello,

while testing the beam suspension at the rear axle I found a odd behavior. The linkages (the yellow lines in physics debug mode) seem not to be working. The hub is allways moving parallel to the shock_bodylink and shock_axlelink  (the red line). I also tested the sl_rd (Caterham) with nonsense values for linkage_axlelinks (attached picture) and the car is driving like before. With the standard sl_rd the linkage2_axlelink and linkage3_axlelink (wich should be and stay in one position) are moving when the suspension compresses.

Is the linkage_bodylink the pivot point of the rear suspension or do I get this wrong?

Correct.  I reported this on September 21, 2016.  Supposedly it will be fixed in the next update.

Oh thank you Phathry,

hopefully it will be fixed in the next beta. :)

This is a known, long standing, bug  :(
Unfortunately the focus of the upcoming Beta12 is in porting all the latest features and improving the tyre simulation on dirt.
The suspensions simulation will be fixed in Beta13  :-[
