Title: Track Release: JanjGrandPrix_3
Post by: janaucarre on May 02, 2018, 07:37:36 PM
Hi,
Here are the links for a version 2 and 1 of JanjGrandPrix_3.
Entirely made by me, more than 5 km, ascents and descents as well as tight turns and other very fast.
For the creation of this track i have been inspired by many other tracks, i wanted to have as much as possible of different curves.
First corner: thought about first corner of Le Mans
Double right: dont remember why but i like it
The esses: thought about circuit of the america and others.
Stadium double left: tought about misano (old version).

I hope you wil  enjoy riding at this track.
For those who desire modify, I can give them the 3ds files.

Marshals, cameras and light OK

Thank you and good ride.

You may want to put a picture of the track layout in the first post.
It would be nice to see how it looks already in this post ;)

Thanks janaucarre, i'll dl it and run to try it on the Vin97's Academy !  ;D

After 20 laps on it, i want to say :
1. Nice and tricky, the first corner with the bump on the ground on the exit, same thing on the descent after the dooble right, its really "special" (reminds me of some British tracks... :o )
2. The "Esses" before the big stadium, i don't know if it's really necessary  ::) Great place to have a strike during a race.
3. The length of a circuit makes it like old tracks and its good, it's full of everything, and the long strait is short enough to not loose attention.
4. The only thing that really is annoying to me (imho) is the grey borders, they are awfull, you can't put your tyres on them without hoping to stay on your wheels, even using them to fast pass like the one on the second corner in the stadium, if you pass over it, fast, it takes you out. For example, i like the ones from Jerez V0.9 they are "parts" of the circuit.
On your track, you want to avoid them the most possible since it's the lotery (for me). I'm sure some "purist" will say that it's better that way but to me they are not part of the track, better pass on the sand than this grey mountains...

Thanks again for all that work, and even if i have the guts to critisize, i know that i couldn't be doing 1% of what you did, and it's a lot of work so nice job janaucarre.  ;D

Thank you very much for your comment.
About the kerbs:
A long post in this forum has been written about the fact if kerbs must be flat or not, do the kerbs be adapted to the bikes or the bikes must be adapted to the kerbs, It's a long story.

For this track and the news about gpb14 i've decided to not flat kerbs until gpb new release, after that we will see.

Aaah the esses :-)
For the creation of this track i have been inspired by many other tracks, i wanted to have as much as possible of different curves.
First corner: thought about first corner of Le Mans
Double right: dont remember why but i like it
The esses: thought about circuit of the america and others.
Stadium double left: tought about misano (old version).
If you like so much kerbs from jerez, me to, it is because they are completely flat like a mirror.

Thank you.

Thank you for this reply and not taking my remarks as a bad criticism.

I made a mistake, the second bumpy part on the exit is after a dooble left. Not right, pfffff  ;D

About the "kerbs"  (vibreur en Français), they are really a pain and that a killer for me.
To me it's sad cuz it kills the track. But that's only my point of view.
And if you want to change thme, i guess it will be a lot of work so it's probably dead. Too bad.

Otherwise, on MotoGP went down to 2.16.xxx, but as your video shows, could probably go down to 2.04.xxx or 2.03.xxx

But once more, super work, nice idea (the third corner, the entrance and the invisible curve made me think at Laguna Seca before the corckscrew.)
It's a very technical track and it's great. Keep up !!

Yesterday evening i decided to begin the flat kerbs, about 2 hours and only half done.
Add start and pit lights, you will SEE the green lights everywhere you will be on the grid ;-) (a bit special).
Ive found a hole (little) on the straight between the end and the start of the asphalt.
After that marshall and cams will be added.
NDS and DS will be made.
Perhaps 3d grass will be added.
Start line will be added.

I was riding around last night and i did find a hole between the floor and the bottom of the barrier. I cant remeber where though..

I will have another look tonight, but i can remever it is in a sand trap with the white concrete barrier with a mesh top.

Just out of interest.

How long does it take you roughly to make the changes in RTB then export, change the names of objects then export to game files??

Hi, things to do is not only to change the name in 3ds after import from rtb. You need to reapply all textures. Smooth certain things, look if it is driveable without changes in rtb and redo an export.
If the track is correct, well smoothed, all things you need are present in 3ds and textured =>
30min import in 3ds
30 min rename object (if there is no cutting to do for separate different object)
More than 1 hour in tracked for centerline, grid, pit, (racedata)

Also in reality:
Doing the track in rtb from 2 to 5 or 6 days
Export to 3ds
Separate and converting in poly and rename 3-5hour(depend of the length and complexity, number of object)
Building pits 3-6hours with texturing
Building other roads like pit road 3-4 hour with texturing
Delete all seats in the public area because million of polygons for nothing and my computer cant export more than 500'000, 3 hours
Delete many tyre wall for same reason, 2hours
Export to gpb=> collision 5 to 15min
Export to gpb=> map 1h30 to 6 hours
Export to gpb=> shadow 1h30
Tracked centerline => 30 to 1hour
Tracked racedata => 1h
Tracked marshalls=>2hours
Tracked camera => 2 or more, depends what you want and how do you remember hoq it works
Export 5min
Try i n gpb
So you can add time for white line like grid, start/finish
You can note that my track is very simple, no million of object.
In 8 days of work, 24/24 the track is about to be uploaded, but there is certain things to do like flattering the kerbs and see what it is in game and probably redo them.

Hello !

@Janaucarre :
Did a little run yesterday night on NAFPRA server on your track with LeTardos.
And we quit the server when the race went after practice and qualif, because nobody knows when to start (no lights for the first row), maybe they were working on the side of the track for the back rows but no display in screen for us.

So we left and i reloaded the track on a trackday server. (DS version as NAFPRA but i have to learn how to turn the groove on, which NAFPRA does but i still haven't look at "how to do it"   ??? )

And then we had another session and what i can say so far :
-The bikes are too close to each other on the pits, all lined up, instead of being aligned maybe they could be perpendicular or 45° angle to what they are now, because if the bike in front of you is on his stand, you have hard time moving out from your box position. And a bike without pilot is like a wall or a rock, it doens't move.
-The kerbs are a lot better, honestly it's not like Jerez but now you can put your wheel onto and pass without praying !  :)
-Starting lights that doesn't work.

Did a little video of 3-4 laps on this last version of the track and it's there :
http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=1075.msg90131#msg90131

Your track is great and thank you again.

Hi,
I will change the pits position, not a big jo, 5 min, less than upload and post here.
For the starting lights i will change it if i understand whats wrong.

Aaah the kerbs, at jerez they all are easy because they are not real kerbs, they only are at the same height as the road and no teeth. So its not kerbs.
Thank for report

Add  'groove_multiplier=20' to your 'profile.ini' file found at 'c:\users\uberslug\Documents\PiBoSo\GP Bikes\profiles\UberSlug\profile.ini' [replace uberslug with your username]. It will hasten groove creation.

Run a bunch of laps on the track you want to add a groove to [softer tires lay down rubber faster than harder tires but they all leave rubber on the surface].

If you added a groove to A1 Ring v2.2, go to 'c:\users\uberslug\Documents\PiBoSo\GP Bikes\profiles\UberSlug\tracks\A1 Ring v2.2\' [again, replace uberslug with your username].

You should find 'testing.grv' and 'testing.mrb'.

Copy and Paste them to your Server's Track Directory.

Rename them so their names match the track name exactly [in the case of A1 Ring v2.2] 'A1 Ring v2.2.grv' and 'A1 Ring v2.2.mrb' [*.grv is the groove file while *.mrb is the marbles file].

Restart the Server.

Always in FP view.

But the lights can't be seen from the first row. Maybe from the second or third and so on but in the first row, there's nothing. Désolé.  ;D

Hi,
I changed the racedata file because i noted that start/finish line and grid were not correct but only for one of the 2 vversion(nds/ds).
Starting from pit is better now with angle of 60 degrees.
I build this afternoon some cosmetics, flags, publicities, and other little things. More will be added.
Lights are now good for 1rst view.
I hope i will have enough time to do what i want until 1 week.
A reverse version is in my head :-)

Coucou Janaucarre,

i went on your last production, the V2 DS.
And i've seen that you fill it up with lost of decoration.

And here is what i've noticed :
1. The blue fences on the right are great, you can go through just fine  ;D
2. The kerbs are great now, bravissimo  ;) Now you can use them instead of fearing them. Thank you.
3. It happened three times that just taking the brake the bike flipped up, a litttle bit like Pirro at Mugello, on the fast part on the other side of the circuit, when the strait brakes on left side and then it goes down a little bit, if i brake really hard there, i flip each time. Maybe you increased the bump ? or...  :-[
4. Big Shadow on the second double right is tricky at first but nice, it's nice and it's going to move depending of the sun position.

I did a trackday server to try it tonight so i can't talk about the starting lights.

Thank you for your hard work, it's getting a lot better (specially the kerbs, they are great !)
Title: Re: Track Release: JanjGrandPrix_3

Hi,
Thank you.
I wish i could add more fences and other but because i found the limit of polygons for map export with shadow=less than 43000p polys.
Now its about 428000. More the export will never be done. 3dsmax 2010 32bits i dont use 64 because many problems qith about 8 different version tried.
I loose many time about sun position, not really sun but lights for shadow at the export, its so long to export, more than 1h30.
I never changed anything to the road, so its the bike or you making a bad breaking.
Going through fences, i hope, is not a problem ? No ?
All publicities have been made by me ;-) cause i dont like to use existing, except piboso/gpbikes.
I really want to add more things like ombrella for marshall area and so...
Title: Re: Track Release: JanjGrandPrix_3

Yes, i understand that you want to make it nicer but, honestly, the most important is done and its the track.
About my braking flips, it's seems that it is from the WSSP, i have to get use to it.
Have run a server last night, did a few laps to appreicate more and some good ones with Teeds, we had a lot of fun, this track is a long history :)

The fences are great, but not as much as the kerbs that are really good now to ride safe.
And with the WSSP from Julien113 on it, its great place to play and for me a good place to work on my modded controller.

Have a good GP's week-end !  ;D
