Title: Ride 3 from Gamescom 2018
Post by: davidboda46 on August 23, 2018, 05:27:33 pm
Interview with Milestone guy from Gamescom... shitload of BS (Gamescon would be a more accurate description of it) but someone might find it or the in-game footage interesting...

Everything from this developer is just garbage. I hate the physics and everything that goes with with. Supercross the game and MXGP Pro is cringy as hell.

That awful jerky steering... It's really time for developers to completely rethink how they simulate steering on motorcycle games. Bikes tend to maintain a given amount of lean with little to no steering input, especially at higher speeds.

MotoGP 18 wasnt that bad... however we should remember that this game is for all people... they need to make the game simple enough so even kids could play it. On the other hand its good. GP Bikes position is unquestioned as a motorbike simulator and its good I think :-)

Agree with you mate....

Just a shame that Dorna decide to use a kiddies game for the official esport MotoGP events instead of a proper simulator.... Poor decision on Dorna's part in my opinion.

I really dislike that artificial spense of speed made by very wide FOV :-( but other elements seem to look very good

Bike looks great, grass looks great, trees look awful.

Are they intending to add any physics? At the moment immersion level looks very lacking (as usual)  :(

Cadwell Park by the look of it? ;D 8)

View looks a little distorted though? Is that your FOV settings maybe?

In my opinion it looks pretty good. Better than the replay helmet cam in Ride 2. I don't think there is a title out there doing a better job concerning this subject anyway. I consider to buy this game. Physics wise it's probably in the range of Ride 2, but I hope they improve the AI a lot. Would be nice to have some proper offline racing without being rear-ended all the time. I hope someone on this forum is able to answer this question when Ride 3 is released in a few days ;)

Hawk the video above is replay camera. However the onboard camera has wide FOV and no, there is no FOV slider. As for AI its way too easy from what I have seem in PS4 videos. I will buy it on friday and I will tell you if its good or not.

It's already released if you pre-ordered the gold edition, the gold edition buyers got it yesterday.

Physics wise it is quite a bit off from Ride2 a step back almost, in some points better, in other worse

Graphics wise it is a quite good looking game, physics wise, not as much. AI seems to still just stick to their line no matter what, but the collisions is a little better than ride 2

been watching afew robo vids, AI seem to just be rubber banding and grass doesnt effect them.
also selling bike dlc on day one.
other bikes that were in r2 are now missing for future dlc i guess.
was a big fan of ride2, cant support this type of cash grab with mimimal improvements.

Actually watched some YT vids and its looks dreadfull, no evidence of any physics at all - 120mph leaned over on sand/kerbs/grass!!, strange 'weavy' cornering, huge cutting of corners without any sort of penalty and the graphics look fairly mundane (which is surprising).

And my pet hate - it just looks like flying a camera along a track model and not riding a bike on a track  >:(

+1 the only improvement is the livery editor.. but they have taken away the riding style editor. So its not really an improvement lol. Tracks and physics are bland. I was buzzing for cadwell park and oulton park but they just boring.

Not bad business practice considering they have released basically the same game 3 times now. Rolled it in a bit more glitter  and funnily enough it's still shit...

;D

I always wonder why people care so much about physics in milestone games, where the majority of the players ride in 3rd persons anyway...

How is it to race against the AI? I've read that the AI sticks to it's line and don't care about the player? Do they still brake too late for some corners and rear end you? For example hairpin at Magny Course where in Ride 2 you got hit from behind because AI brakes too late... That was my biggest frustration in Ride 2. I also have MotoGP 15 in which the AI is much better in my opinion... so I think milestone is able to produce descent AI for their games. Just wonder if this is the case in Ride 3...
Title: Re: Ride 3 from Gamescom 2018
Post by: KG_03 on December 03, 2018, 10:37:36 am
OK, I bought it and played some hours.

First overall feeling is great. The physics is harder, at least now if you break too hard in lean you crash instantly. So the physics are improved, also the handling feels more dynamic and better. The onboard camera is fantastic. New tracks are also very good.
What is bad? Its clearly visible that many models and parts are importet straight from Ride 2. They are less detailed, have worse physics. Also the off track gip is way too high and wet races feel similar to dry. If they fixed those things as I have mentioned it would be the best motorcycle game ever. At least its my opinion.
So as for casual gaming its fantastic. The best Milestone game up to this date.

How? I had to check 5 times if the physics were on Pro and TC was off, and i still wasn`t crashing or even sliding on a 200BPH ZX-10R when driving like a retard. I can cut corners jumping over curbs and hitting the grass under full lean and 100% front brake without crashing. The bikes give me no feedback whatsover, it`s like driving in a vacuum on a weightless vehicle on rails.

I really hoped for a Ride game with the MotoGP 18 physics, as for a arcade game they were getting close to perfect imo. But except for the sounds and sometimes better graphics (very boring and bland tracks) Ride 3 is a step back from Ride 2 in every way...

Post by: KG_03 on December 03, 2018, 12:38:43 pm
which bike did you try? I play with agressive throttle and brake setting and it feels different.
Unfortunately bikes are not equal in physics. Some are very good and some suck (like Energica Ego)
Title: Re: Ride 3 from Gamescom 2018
Post by: Blackheart on December 03, 2018, 12:39:02 pm
Tried yesterday for about 4 hours. I don't like something in the graphics engine (the hdr is just horrible) but the feeling with the bikes is very good for a simcade, you understand what happen before lose the front, the sounds are good and the tracks are amazing. The 3p view Imho is useless and not fun. I played just with the 1p view (not the helmet one, I don't like it, I hope in some new views mods).

The bikes are beautiful and the AI stupid as usual maybe a bit less aggressive.

The livery editor is very fun and a great idea. The career looks fun with a lot of challenges.

But I'm not happy about the Milestone marketing. Why sell useless DlC in the day one??? I see a dlc with just 1 single bike...

7/10 for me.
Title: Re: Ride 3 from Gamescom 2018
Post by: KG_03 on December 03, 2018, 12:40:58 pm
yes 7/10 is a good rating. I would give the same. Still I have a feeling that game needs like half year of development for testing, balancing and adding some stuff. I think that as long as they will not add custom settings for camera no one will be 100% happy.

Loads. There is just no connection with the bike like i had in MotoGP 18. Yeah, that game was as arcade as it could get, but a very nice handeling one in which most things i did made sense, same goes for the crashes.

Ride 3 just feels way too floaty. I`ll give it another go, but it just doesn`t grab me...

My conclusion from the few videos I saw is :
GPBikes just needs a good graphic engine, better sounds and more bikes and tracks to become the absolute, non discutable, beating them all, 5 stars, top, best, bester bike game of all times...

Still... Am I gonna buy Ride 3 to give it a try ??? I've played 4 hours of Ride 2 and get bored... Does it worth its price for 10 hours ??

With all respect mate...... Yep, and this is why we keep getting this type of rubbish developed cause people still buy it, even if only to try it.  :o

Why not just download and try the demo instead and then be done with it? You stated yourself that you only played Ride 2 for 4 hours before getting bored with it.... Why not do yourself and everyone else a favour. Lol.   ;) ;D

I'm joking Max. What I want to say is that at first sight, most gamers will be impressed by beautiful graphics and gound sound (what you can see from a yt video).

@Hawk : I understand your point. Tho, I havn't bought any Milestone game so far and I know I will play this one with friends of mine.
On the other hand, I think that it is more efficient to make some advertising for GPB than stoping buying other games if we want the GPB comunity to grow up

I must admit I don't understand this reasoning(highlighted in blue)? How does buying crap motorcycle games advertise GPBikes or help grow the GPB community? Surely more direct advertising approaches(Youtube reviews, etc) and regular race events for GPB would be so much more beneficial? :)

Ho... That's my point indeed !
I mean. If you and I and all the GPB community don't buy Milestone games, that won't change anything. But, I f we advertise GPB, It may have better visibility, more people joining... Maybe Piboso will hire some people to help him and accelerate the development etc, etc...

Milestone make games for kids or causal players that just want to have fun on their ps4. If simracers like us buy or not their game, this won't change a thing I think.

I understand and respect what your saying their mate, and yes you could well be right on that premise..... I just hate to see games being promoted as simulators when MotoGP 2018 is clearly not a simulator at all. I just think the more people that can be convinced to not buy Milestones MotoGP game series then the more likely chance there is of them finding the likes of GPBikes. But then as you say, those sort of people are probably only looking for a "game" and not a "sim" that needs practice and dedication to ride well in. Agreed.  ;)

I noticed Ride 3 is 20% off on steam (39,99 Euro). Is it worth the price, or should I wait for a better price?;)

I've got a GTX 960M, which is below specs... or is there a chance that it might run alright on my laptop? (Other specs are on recommended level...)

I think its worth the price. But its more like ride 2.5 with new graphics and fantastic tracks. 80% of bikes and clothes are from Ride 2 😔 still its very fun to ride.

I am surprised that they dropped the price now...looks like the sales must have been low...

Anyway Ride 3 looks fantastic - but thats all.....

It don´t feel like riding a bike - like GBP. No comparing to the feeling you get in a 500 2 stroke on a track like catwell park close to - and sometimes over the limit. Thats real fun - Ride (Milestone ) is A R C A D E. Nothin more to say...

I noticed Ride 3 is 20% off on steam (39,99 Euro). Is it worth the price, or should I wait for a better price?;)

I've got a GTX 960M, which is below specs... or is there a chance that it might run alright on my laptop? (Other specs are on recommended level...)

I play it with an old laptop and works well to 1080p with medium details it is well optimized (motogp 18 run bad with the same laptop...)

Thanks Blackheart! That's even better;)

I bought it 2 days ago, and after some initial frustration about my controller not being recognized, i'm actually very positive about Ride 3. I like the presentation (visuals of the menu's), the graphics, sounds, amount of bikes and some very nice tracks. And it runs suprisingly smooth on my laptop (haven't tried bigger tracks though). Off course, it's not perfect. Some bugs, multiplayer, ridiculous that I had to find a way to get my controller working, and off course no simulator. But it's not rubbish;) I think it's a very nice game and will probably give me a few hundred hours of gameplay...

If you setup your controller in steam big screen it will mean your controller works in any steam game. I use it for my Hs3 systems and works perfectly even in IOM TT.

Yeah, that's the way I got my controller to work as well. But I still think a simple logitech gamepad should work from the get go, like in ride 2 or gp bikes...
