I absolutely support this idea, it would be great if we had a smaller class race once in a while. And imagine a full grid... (of course without core.exe messing up our plans xD)

I vote for a different track. Victoria isn`t even smooth enough for the 125. There are 3 possible points where you can fall without any reason. The only track that is 100% perfectly smooth is Assen. You can ride 100 laps there without having to worry about taking a different line or else you`ll fall over.

Also, if the amount of players gets too high, you can just run 2 servers. Just like we did with the 1st cold turkey race.

The first cold turkey was a 'mess', 1000 cores... But maybe that was a Beta 3 problem. We will see ;) Currently 18 guys in de lobby and no lag :D

No lag? I only saw 6 people on the grid, bikes appeared next to me in a corner, and as soon as i fell i got a core. Yes, lag free :)

there plenty of smooth tracks the 125 can go round, just not the larger ones used for the GP.  guess no one plays thems. I've only got up to "C" with mu testing so far.  Assen I can crash on turn one and some kerbs get a reset bug of sort. Racing lines have more to them than just the radias bit I agree it not easy to hussle the 125 round places, different styles and pace will give different result im aware of that.

This is my biggest worry.... Yesterday with the 10 or so people that started the race, riders just popped up before me and I was lucky not to hit anyone. This is just something that really is going to screw things up when having a grid of 18+ riders.

When with more then a few people... I always see people disappearing and reappearing on the grid. Roughly said I see at most 6 people at the same time I think. I have had this happen on different servers with different people, and I know I am not the only one since Jamoz and Arvoss experience the same thing.

When with more then a few people... I always see people disappearing and reappearing on the grid. Roughly said I see at most 6 people at the same time I think. I have had this happen on different servers with different people, and I know I am not the only one since Jamoz and Arvoss experience the same thing.

Do you guys live a long way from the servers? I don't have any problem with GP Bikes rending other bikes even in a full field.... This is weird. I first thought you guys were joking when I saw your posts.

Me and Jamoz are from the Netherlands (Holland) and Arvoss is from Belgium. I do not know where the Dibu's servers are hosted (France?) but we all live pretty close to each other and it isn't the speed of our internet connection.

dibu's servers are in Germany.

I've never seen the "max 6 bikes rendered" problem.

iVo, can you create a new topic in the bug section describing briefly the problem ?

It would be perfect to have a video of this (live recording) but wait until I find how to enable the graphs related to network traffic in GPB: anybody remembering how they were activated ?
I think it was an option in a .ini somewhere ... dibu ?

Maybe we can change the amount of rendered bikes in the core.ini file. In rFactor you van choose the amount of cars ;)

There's no such a setting in GPB. I'm not even sure GPB does this intentionally, it may be just a side effect of a bug or poor connection.

This is normal I think... You have to use FRAPS or an other recording software to make screenshots ;)

Print screen will not work. In GPB/WRS, screenshot = F11, saved in 2.2 Data folder (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=431.msg2999#msg2999).

The graphs I posted in the old forum are separate tools. For most of them I used the Windows build in Resource Monitor. You have to choose 'Network' and check the process which you want to observe (core.exe). In the 'Network Activity' part below you can see in realtime the bandwidth consumption of each player and of the server. All values are shown as Bytes/sec. At the right side you see the graphs.

I've other tools too but for getting a good overview the Resource Monitor is not bad.

Windows Task Manager -> Performance tab -> Resource Monitor

Sorry guys... I got a core.exe as we were about to start the race tonight 19:40pm GMT, and couldn't get reconnected cos the race had already started. :(  That was two before I even got on track to practice, and I don't usually get many core.exe's.

I think there is far too many on the server.... Less than half what is signed up for the race.. I think your going to have to split the field, Arvoss?

No, I was talking about a "secret" option in GPB to show within the game some graphs.
I remember it was used in beta2 or beta3 to test some stuff once.
Piboso explained how to activate it, it was in some .ini.

Quality is perfectly fine for me. And you have the option concerning the format GPB saves: core.ini (http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=18.msg41#msg41).

You really don't need any external tool for that.

We will see ;) This is not the same server as the real race server. And the rookie race is more a 'stress test' race and to see if people are interested. I'll organize a Rookies championship after this race, divided in 2 classes. ;)

EDIT: Server got reset now, it should work better ;)

Ok now I know what you mean. Hmm, I shouldn't post while working ::).
I just searched my HDDs but couldn't find the settings (core.ini, gpbikes.ini, profile.ini, shortcuts). If I remember right it was an option for beta2.

I just don't understand that some guys can join but others can't...

It would be nice to have a clear thread about a dedicated server. With FAQ... Because the commando's don't always work; some guys can join, others not; does it matter which port I'm using? Port forwarding...

Your server doesn't show a ping. This means only people who opened UDP port 10500+10510 at their own router can connect - all others get timeout.

Use portforwarding at your router.
Incoming UDP port 20510 -> UDP 20510 to 192.168.0.184

192.168.0.184 = the PC you use as Server
UDP 20510 = the port were you run your dedicated server.
Bandwidth setting =2 is ok for your line

No it still doesn't show a ping.

DMZ is not necessary if portforwarding works proper.  But I've seen enough routers from providers which block despite the settings seem to be ok in the menus.

Did you open your windows firewall for core.exe in both directions?

You can enable your firewall again if you create an incoming rule (allow) for core.exe in advanced settings of the windows firewall.

Yes, me too, got 2 checkered flags and saw race over. Server quits automatically 60 seconds after race ends. If you have +x lap your race is over once you cross finish line when the winner has crossed the line.

I kept getting jumping positions too. I got a lot of blue flags only half the time did I actually see anyone behind me. I would be at 10th, then jump to 7th, then back to 9th, then to 8th, then back to 10th yet I wasn't near anyone.

We also need to start a ground rule doing Qualifying I noticed a few riders, would not take the pit out, they would ride straight through the orange cones on to the track...

i lost connection on the last lap at P2, how nice is that..
In general, this was really f...d up, I was more concentrated about server stuff then on my riding hahah..
Although I am happy with my fastest lap in the race and pole position in the quali.. Looking forward to a championship (but with 10-14 players max on 1
server)

This is a good event to do with the 125. Myself fell almost every corner. Noticed that i had a huge delay when i quit the race and watched the replay, my message of quiting the race came after 3 laps or so. So this does not go away even when we use quick race option.

Good tbing Arvoss , keep them coming.

My thoughts about this event.
Ok, first of all I tried to reach the limits of GP Bikes with my own server. I have a fast internet connection and I could see that at the pings (average of 50-60) and the amount of jumping bikes on track. There was almost no lag.

First try

Practice
20 guys in lobby
Pings: Average of 50-60
Lag: No
Cores: +-4
Small delay in times

Qualify
18 guys in lobby
Pings: Average of 50-60
Connection: For 2-3 guys it took a long time to connect
Cores: +-2
Lag: No
Some guys started complaining about a delay. The had a delay of 10 minutes! This is probally a game bug, an anoying game bug.

Ended first try here

Second try

Short Quali
14 guys in lobby
Pings: Average of 50-60
Cores: +-0
Lag: No
No delay

Race
Start: Impossible to start a race with only 6 bikes visible.  >:(
Lag: No jumping bikes or lag | LoriX got disconnected and PeterV got a delay
Cores: +-0
Some guys got 2 chequered flags. I got 2 too and I was not 1 lap behind the first guy.
Some guys got blue flags but no one was behind them.

EVENT
So, after trying to reach GP Bikes limits it's only possible to host a race with +- 14 guys but only 6 of them are visible. (Hawk_UK can see everyone  :o )

Thank you to everyone that made this event possible! :D Thank you for joining and taking the time to make the skins! :D
Thanks to dibu and PeterV for the test servers! :D

See you next time, maybe in a championship! :D

I was thinking about live streaming my upcoming Rookies championship. BUT, will watching the replay during the cause lag? Who can play with the camera's and switch to other players without the buttons? Who is going to commentate? And the most important thing, who is going to watch? :p

Yeah... It would be nice to Live Stream, but to be real, I think it's a little too early maybe for live streaming? I don't think you could live stream from the race server; another server would probably have to be tied in to take the information used for replays and then send them for live streaming separately? Just a thought. ;)

Maybe Dibu or Max could enlighten us more on how Live Streaming is achieved?

Couple of Screen Shots of the race grid.
Great to see all the bikes on the grid for once  ;D.

Easy way: Just join a race server and don't race. Watch the replay and use the shortkeys to switch camera's and or players ;) I could do a stream test if you want. ;)

Maybe there is a pro way, as you say, with another server. But I don't know if you can do this now ;)

I like the idea but think it would be hard switching back and forth you wouldn't know where the action is at during the race. We need some feature that would automatically jump to riders that are point X amount of seconds apart from each other. Wish I new how iRacing.com handled it, they have a action came that does jump around not only between battles but mistakes too.

A stream test would be an interesting exercise..... But surely you'd need to somehow stream the replay information directly to a website so people could watch the race on a website player without using up precious race server bandwith?

Oh yea, true. Hosting the server and uploading the stream will be difficult. I'll join a random dibu server tomorrow and start streaming a bit ;)

Well. If we want to live stream at some stage, it's better we try now and work out all the problems and potential needs required to do this. Great! ;D

The best method to stream gpbikes is using OBS with Game capture device. The FPS drops is really low and the quality good.

For some stupid reason, the game crashed when I was about 20 seconds from reaching my starting position. And for some other stupid reason, my computer crashed afterwords. So, no race for me.  :'(

Not too bad, I wasn't really that competitive and would have never reach top 5 so I hope you had a great race. I'll check the video.  :D

Cheers

Weird...Just make sure it's in the right directory. Documents/PiBoSo/GP Bikes/replays
You don't have to make an extra folder. If it still doesn't work, go to a random game and save the replay. Look if the replay is saved in the replays folder ;)

But wait ... which game capture device ? The Elgato thing ? It seems to be HDMI only, so no good for me (120Hz lcd ==> DVI OK, HDMI no).

Should we do qualifiers to see which group we should be put in?
Or maybe a hot lap server where top half goes in group 1 and bottom half in group 2?

Not the best, OBS is better and free. You can see all the professional gamers streaming with OBS. XSplit was the best in the past. This is more efficient, I recommend you. Maybe you have a nice computer and connection that allows you stream with XSplit, but people who dont have it will preffer this!
