Yeah.... I just think it's a down right cheek to advertise a product here yet only allow downloads from their site, after all, this is the
Official GP Bikes website/forum.
I think the moderators should look into banning this kind of behaviour?
This is Tchoum decision. If he doesn't want to published it here I doesn't do it.
And if you don't want to download something on an other website than the official, don't do it too.
PS : You can see that it's not Tchoum that advertise his mod but Docfumi, so you can't blame Tchoum for that. And Docfumi gives an information to those who want to know the progression of this mod.
PS2 : TT Mini will also be available only on Motonline, due to authorisations... :-\
I don´t understand that decission either but anyway....it´s his decission.
I regurlally look into motoonline forum, so i can download it there.
The only negative on this:
If you wan´t to join a server with this bikeset and you are new to GPBikes you will be looking to DL it on the official GPB site but have to search in the Motoonline forum for the DL.
BTW:
Think of someone who is highly interested in Endurance Racing (e.g. 24h LeMans) but is not a french native speaker and has to DL the bikeset on a French homepage. Not easy for everyone...
The bikeset looks very promissing and i think there are a few people out their can´t wait to race them online.
BTW:
What about Physics??
maybe we should keep that in mind:

Don't think we have a problem here: creators will always decide if they want to publish stuff here or not. There's no obligation at all (at least I'm not aware of any).
Also, as stated by Piboso, non 100% original content is not exactly welcome here: it's not forbidden (unless blatant rip with zero added value) but not encouraged neither.
Now we can discuss hours about what "original content" means but in any case, to be on the safe side, many creators at motonline decided to avoid "publishinig" stuff here (for your records, I had to persuade Juju to do it for the GSVR, but he accepted because it was just simpler this way than arguing with me, probably).
So bottom line is: we'd all prefer if any GPB related creation is somehow announced here, but if the creator does not want to, so be it.
Notice however that this Endurance bikeset already appears in the WIP thread, so ...
Also I see no advertising (not as if they were asking money for their creations) and anyway all mods are always downloaded from another site, as here you cannot host files above a few hundred KBs.
MaX.
P.S.
The whole notion of "publishing" is flawed, as even if I create something and I don't talk about it here, sooner or later somebody will do it, so my stuff will appear here too (it's somewhere on the web --> it's everywhere potentially).
BTW, this is what happened: tchoum/JC didn't made the post, docfumi did it (and twice, with a teasing screenshot first and a fully fledged topic after). Not sure why he did it, but he did so now you know. Where's the problem ?
Quote from: HornetMaX on February 04, 2014, 11:18:36 AM

I don't see a problem neither. For other sims you have 100 different sites where you can find downloads. As mentioned a couple of week ago in another thread, it would be nice (one day) do have a website (database) where everyone can upload his bikes/tracks/paints. :D
I'm not saying there is a problem with advertising at all. The problem is that why restrict the download of a file to an open mod community to a members only access website?
It's very easy to upload files to free and easy access download sites, why restrict access to a site you have to join to download files, especially a site that is in another language than your own?
Yes, if the author wishes to keep it that way then they have every right to do so.... I just think it is a bit of a cheek when most others make files available on free and easily accessible sites for downloads without having to join to get them.
I don't care who is doing this, he could be my best friend, he could be the best modder for GP Bikes in the whole world by far, I don't care, I would take the same attitude against anyone who restricted the download of their files just to a members access only site. To me it goes against the spirit of an open mod community.
However, if the forum community and moderators feel differently about this activity then so be it, and if I don't like it then I don't download, simple.... No problem, I'm happy! ;D
So guys.... there is no need to make a song and dance about this subject, it's not really a big deal, I'm just expressing my own personal opinion(Which sometimes gets me into deep sh*t. Hehe), and obviously most people here don't see anything wrong in it; I just find it's a bit of a cheek that's all.
Keep the spirit going. ;)
Regards to all,
Happy Hawk. ;D ;D 8)
To answer some of your ?´s
The Mod will be released to all despite the closed forum!
1) T22 asked for my help to spread the word about the Mod
2) He wanted a native speaker to help with translation and Q&A
3) To avoid conflict the Bikeset not be released here, this does not mean you con not Download for here - (Hyperlink ;) )
Hawk_UK, you are assuming that you'll need to register on motonline, that may not be the case.
Can you download this (bottom of the page) ? http://www.motonline-france.com/index.php?post/2014/01/19/GPBikes-Suzuki-GSVR (http://www.motonline-france.com/index.php?post/2014/01/19/GPBikes-Suzuki-GSVR)
Yes, and without registering/logging. So no issue at all (except for the language, which I concede).

JamoZ, Piboso stated if a MOD is not 100% scratch made he would rather not have it on the Official Forum. Please take that into consideration as we also did by not posting the Mod but giving all the info on where to get it and how.

I hope know one was offended? But hey, this is what forums are all about: Debates, Chit Chat, Solving problems, and Sharing Information.... Therefore again the forum and community have done a good job here. :)
Thanks guys for making all things clear, appreciated. ;) ;D

NP! JamoZ, I just wanted all to have a look and try and help out. I see nothing wrong with that. A lot of
guys post there mods with external links and givin the request from PIBOSO it was better to leave this Mod at Motonline.
It´s all very simple and by no means was I or any else being cheeky or whatever, I was following Board Rules.
It wasn`t directed at you personally Doc, it`s just the attitude of some people over there that leave a bad taste in my mouth. I don`t know where that came from, but it`s like some people over there have problems with us over here.

What's that catfight thing ? Some sort of medieval duel between racing teams that will be sorted out on the track ?
RTH vs Frog Eaters on a neutral server hosted by dibu in Kartoffelnland ?
It's not even possible due to the online issues (sorry, can't resist, had to stick this in :) )...
Peace my friends, peace.

Not a month, a week.
Just interested about the R1!
Will it have its own engine character? (crossplain crank) power delivery? Or will it be the same as the maurasama? Just curious..

You'll never be able to tell a crossplane from a screamer by the power delivery unless you have very very sophisticated instruments on the bike (and even then it's not sure).
MaX.
Apart from the masses of bottom end torque and mechanical grip out of corners I agree lol :)
Dont worry though im not complaining! I like the 990.. And im looking forward to the mod! The bikes look very very nice!

The masses of bottom end torque compared to what ? Against other 1000cc 4cyl WSBK engines I doubt there's any difference (not to say against v4s).
Was the same for the 600 WSS: all the 4cyl are nearly identical.
The mechanical grip (which, btw, on the road bike is just marketing hype) is the thing that is not possible to model within the limited resources of a game.
It would require an extremely detailed model of the tire, just unthinkable.
Most likely, the only thing one could make specific to this bike is the sound, which is indeed peculiar.
MaX.
Yes I agree the overall performance of the bikes is obviously close, but how much do the electronics play a part in all that?
All I know is the big bang R1 feels alot different to most 1000cc bikes! Its just how it delivers the power it feels different.. It feels smoother but harder if that makes any sense lol
Alot of people say the R1 is better without electronics!

I haven't tried an R1 and anyway I wouldn't be able to judge, but the whole crossplane thing is 90% marketing: honda with the v5 had essentially a crossplane engine, but nobody called it crossplane so nobody cared (and I think others had crossplane engines before). Yamaha decided that, on top of some advantages (in extreme racing conditions, for sure not on the road), giving the thing a catchy name, i.e. brand it, would help sales. And guess what, they were right (no big news).
I may be wrong, but I suspect that the "smoother but harder" thing is mostly a placebo effect one has after listening to the explanation of why a crossplane is (supposedly) better than a screamer.
If you read the official Yamaha documentation about the crossplane technology (hmm), the real advantage (for motgp bikes) is never mentioned: they talk about better balancing of inertia forces, or combining the positive carachteristics of a 2cyl and a 4cyl into a 3cyl crossplane (hmm, yeah). Nowhere they talk about the impact on tires (the real advantage): probably because for a street bike with street tires (or even race tires, but not top of the tech like motogp/wsb) the impact is zero.
But have to admit that a crossplane sounds nice: both as a name and as engine sound :)
MaX.
Yes its all marketing!
''the new R1 with motogp technology straight from rossi's M1'' hahahaha
My friend bought a brand new R6 stock roadbike to convert to a racebike..
Yamaha claim its at 120bhp or around there..
My mate had it on the dyno at 108bhp hahaha
I found the r1 diffcult to ride on the road compared to my blade.. Engine feels completely different. On the track its a missile coming out of tight slow corners!
In comparison the new zx10 is more like a 600 its got nothing unless u are high up in the revs..

For sure there may be engine feeling differences on the stock bikes, but it's very unlikely they come from the engine being crossplane or not.

Yep, that's what they say when they cheat on the output power :)
Most of the time they measure it at the crankshaft (engine output, before clutch, gearbox and final transmission).
So 120bhp at crankshaft vs 108bhp at the wheel seems legit (10% loss, nice and round).

Fly by wire to sensitive, I backed mine off, no rattle plate in clutch make it sound horrid pulling away at times, needs riding more like a twin I find with a gear higher needed the same with the down shift the back get scitish if you ride it like a normal inline 4.
Yamaha claim 120 bhp but that motor they tested wont have the slack tolerance that the mass produced motor do,
I found the zx10 harder to ride fast with the power curve at higher rpm on the road but it a pussy cat at low rpm,
No worries guys, take your time . Busy next few weeks for me :(
I have a 2012 r1 and love it , I had older r1 and older r6 before. Nothing compares to it

Hi Lids.
When you see a forum thread title with "WIP" in the title, this means "Work in Progress". These threads are posted so the community can see what is being developed and follow its progress. When the work is finished, then usually a new thread is created telling the community of the product release and including a download link; they may also post a download link in the WIP thread in the 1st post of the thread.
Hope this helps. ;)

But the authours are Tchoum21 and others from the french forum ...
Anyway, AFAIK they are working on the physics too so it will take longer.

Sorry.... My mistake. I should have read the first post fully but just presumed seeing as it was Docfumi who created the thread, that this was his baby. I'm must be getting lazy in my old age. :P
Btw Max..... I know I'm getting on a bit and not up to speed with these modern abbreviations, but what the hell does "AFAIK" mean? We are getting more like the Americans everyday! Lol
Hawk.
As Far As I Know.
I'm not a big fan of SMS-like abbreviations neither, but sometimes I'm lazy :)

:( any updates boys ;(
No!
They're still working on the physics AND Doing this on their Free Time...
its so damn cool to have a full set of bikes (like we have the wss now ) in same cat rly nice !!
Hey guys, Will this be available for Beta5b ?
Of course it will but it now takes even more time to adjust for 5B (or following) because it was developed with B4B as base.
Guys.....you will be informed when there is the time to ride this beautiful bikes.....
it won´t get faster if every week someone is asking where to DL or anything else.......
The problem is that only one person can't stop asking questions like when it will be released? or any news/updates?. It's annoying and confusing because when I want to read new posts I see only the same messages from the same person.
Guys, please. If you don't have anything meaningful to write (even questions like when it will be released?), JUST DON'T WRITE HERE!!!
Cheers
Hi everybody, Im the late comer here! How do I sign up for this "Endurance World Championship" or qualify for it. (I just wanna race, Im tired of riding by myself). The next thing, can US racers get in on these races with you guys? Great work as usual too with the bikes they look wicked.
It's not championship topic, it's about bikeset from EWC. About championship - go to Racing section on this forum.
I was really looking forward to these bikes, any updates? Anything I can help with>?
Hey MaX, i found a candidate for that insta-ban....

No. No.
MaX.
I am asking if any help is needed you know that right? No need to be rude to try and ban me....
I am merely looking forward to this and offering help doesn't seem so rude
thank you hornet.
Authors have said (a few times) that as soon as the mod is ready, they will let everybody know. It's not ready yet. Hence no news.
We're all interested in this bikeset.
MaX.
Do I dare ask? ;D ;D
I take it this project was scrapped?
This project was not scrapped ;)
