Title: thought I would introduce myself
Post by: je11yfish15 on November 02, 2019, 10:12:36 PM
Just thought I would say hello, I normally do a bit of racing but had a bit of an off at Aberdare park in 2018, smashed my self up a bit, broken back, pelvis shoulder and destroyed my thigh.
The link below is my crash.

My leg is nowhere near strong enough so I'm not racing next year, which gives me the opportunity to go all in on this game, even thinking about getting one of those leanGP's, and maybe VR, I'm saying its for injured rider therapy and I'm sticking with that. I'm not dumb but I've never really bothered with PC games.
So if anyone fancies a challenge, don't get to excited, I mean the challenge of helping me understand what I need to do with this game. As in just setting things up I just need pointing in the right direction.

Welcome aboard mate!  ;)  8)

Wow! Just seen your video showing your accident..... What on earth happened there mate? Looks like too much front brake but I suspect there was more to it than that? :o

The crest you can see is the entry to a down hill left, in my mind I was trying to hang off to the left, to head down the hill, its like a bit of a corkscrew, if you watch closely you can just see the blue R6 catch my rear as it goes light from braking, i remember the feeling of the bike being pushed right I'm saying pushed because it didn't feel like a regular hit. If he had clipped me a fraction of a second either way it probably would not of been nowhere near as bad, it was quite a drop the other side of the crest.
Its all part of the fun =)

Yeah.... I thought there'd be more to it than I was seeing.... I just looked at it again and can see the rider behind pushing into you under braking.... I don't think he liked the fact that you had just passed him. Nasty bugger! Lol! ;D

Good to hear your recovering anyway, was a very nasty accident by the sounds of it.

There's no way your getting round on the outside, like I said it is a bit of a corkscrew,  shit happens, its racing. Once my leg gets stronger I have no lasting problems from it which is ok with me considering how smashed up I was. I've also got to start repairing the CBR, not looking at racing next year but I definitely want to hit the track, so I will be doing some track days see how I am mentality. I live 5 miles from Oulton park

feeling happier, started to get my head round it, I just had a look at Oulton park, its definitely harder on this than for real =)

Welcome! As you said real life is easier lol, GP Bikes is good for practice though. (I learned donny and correct head position in GP Bikes (Use Virtual Reality) for my first 2 trackdays, and it went well. Didn't crash and got a knee down so it wasn't all bad lol) I'm also about 30 mins from Oulton so not too far away either in that regard, also hoping to get on track next year. Just a little poor though, seems to be a bit of a setback lol.

As for the YT vid, I've just seen the link. Looked nasty, glad you're recovering.
Aberdare is a nasty little place, arguably too small for 600s, (can't say I've not ridden it) but a good watch.

I did go to one on the Sunday and it was a fun day, not where I would have put a racetrack mind you. Makes OM look like Silverstone

Glad you're on the mend, and if  there is a particular bike/track combo or anything online, I can attempt to put a server up for you if you want to dabble online
Can't promise to fix all bugs you may have but will certainly help if I can

cheers mystic, should I start a list here
KR1S, ow01, RC30 I can keep going lol =)
we could go back a little bit further, you do get that I'm just going to shout ideas at you all the time. ;)

I seen in a vid that you can only have about 10 tracks installed at a time is this correct?, are the bike unlimited? and how long do they take?

Mystic it was a couple of your hidden gem vids that helped in my decision to go mental this month and spend like i'm a Rockerfella

You can have as many bikes and tracks as you want, I've got a out 60 tracks and more bikes than I can shake a stick at.

Doesn't make a difference to my knowledge.

The bike database and track database should get you started with pretty much everything you'd need, but there are some extra mods available on discord, such as the 500cc gp machines and the 2019 gp machines

is it normal for a few bikes to take so long to install? I can see them in the menu but when I select I just get rider and paddock stand, but clearly not ready as the game crashes or black screen. is this normal?

most tracks appear instantly but two I've tried knock hill and suzuka 8 hour didn't, I have left knock hill in to see if its a slow installer but removed suzuka,

Have you installed the tyre and stand files? They're a separate folder.

tyres go in the tyre file but what about the stand and dash file?

In the same main gp-bikes folder were you placed the "tyres" and "tracks" and so on folder:
misc/dashes/
misc/stands/

Cheers,

cheers, is there a wait or do they appear like the tracks?

there is generally a short wait until they appear in the preview, as it is loading in the menus.

I've left the PC on hopefully I will have a couple of 250's to play on after work. If not there is a 100% chance I will be pestering someone 😃

Sometimes I get chatty, I'll answer my own questions in a thread if I don't keep myself in check 😁
