Title: Bike MOD revived.
Post by: Klax75 on February 28, 2014, 08:09:49 PM
Hi all,

I've decided to try my best to continue the great work JamoZ has done. I've been working on setting up a Mega site for the bike MOD and paint database. The bike MOD I will only update twice a month, on the 1st and the 14th. Any bikes released between those dates you can get from the authors thread, but the full bike MOD will not be revised until the 1st and 14th of each month. I am continuing much as JamoZ did. There is a full bike MOD meaning all the current bikes with all the paints available at the time of the .zip file being made. There is also .zip files for each bike with no paints at all. I'll try to keep the paints folder for each bike up to date. You can always PM me if your paint is missing or if you made a new one. I will also check the paint threads as much as a I can.

Again the full bike MOD and the individual bike .zips with no paints. Will ONLY be updated on the 1st and 14th of each month, if they need to be updated. Thank you. :)

Also I did not make any of these bike mods, so all credit goes to the talented individuals and teams that made these bikes for us to enjoy.

My only purpose is combine the bikes in to easier to find database. :)

Mega Bike MOD & Paint Database.

DropBox Bike MOD & Paint Database.

Please feel free to use the wonderful FTP Sync that Alibaskins provided. I will be updated this also. Bike releases will still be on the 1st and 14th of each month. Paints more often

Bike MOD Auto Sync [beta-tests].

Bike updates will be in RED on the 1st and 14th of the month, new Paint Updates will be in BLUE and will be updated more often. I also added .zip files for each paint folder. The .zip files for each paint folder will be updated on the 1st and 14th same as the Bike MOD. Individual paint files not in a .zip will be updated when more often.

P.S. I am in the U.S. so there is a 4-6 hour time difference between me, the U.K. and Europe. So there may be delays in the future when uploading due to the time difference.

1 tip, ditch the complete package. It`s a pain in the ass to zip and upload a 700+ package every time something changes..or you realize you forgot to add something on 90% of the upload ;)

Some questions to the community. As far as the bike mod goes. Do we want to split it up in to different groupings. MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 WSBK, Endurance, etc. Or keep them together as one group.

Each way has it's pros and cons. Breaking them up makes the type of bike you want easier to find. At the same time it makes it harder for hosting servers. Since there needs to be more servers hosting more bike sets. If you only have a WSBK set, and go to a MotoGP server you will get data miss match since you don't have any MotoGP bikes installed.

For me I thinking for the near future keeping all the bikes together in one mod. Then we know that everyone has every bikes and they can connect to the servers.

Another question I have is about paints. The bike mod with all the bikes and paints is 1.15 GB, with out any paints at all it is 567.2 MB. Over time more bikes will be added so the complete bike MOD will grow in size. So will the number of paints. Since paints are more for look and not server dependent. Some may want every paint they can find, and some don't care about paints just want to ride.

So I am asking the communities thoughts on this. The full bike mod will still only be updated twice a months with paint or without. :)

I don`t get where the 1.15Gb`s is coming from. My mod packed with everything in it was just over 700 Mb`s. I didn`t download yours yet so i don`t know what you have in there, but i did not include the Murusama and its paints and the same goes for all the other stock bikes & their paints. Just the at that moment available modded bikes.

I don`t know what the best way to go is tbh. I would have like to see that we would create a seperate thread for every bike and that the authors or 1 person just updated the threads for each bikes and have people posted the paints in those threads. That way there is no need for 1 database anymore and you have a quick overview of the available bikes & paints.

There is no way we can maintain the current mod model. Size is going to be a issue real soon...

V1.50 contains only the modded bikes incl. paints. No Murusama....

The Database: As far as the database is concerned, I cannot see why we need to change it from what Klax has done already? In otherwords: Have one file in the database that is the full bike mod, and then have separate files for each bike in the mod so that when changes are made, a list of those changes can be posted so that people can see what has been changed and just download those changed files/bikes to bring their current installation up to the latest release version of the Bike Mod. That way, once you have initially downloaded the full Bike Mod, you only then have to download maybe one or two relatively small files on each update of the Mod from the individually separated Bike Mod folders. I think this is a good and efficient way to have the Bike Mod Database organised as klax has it organised now.  :)

Server Hosting: The server hosting is going to become increasingly more demanding and complicated as more and more bike mods are released. So long as dibu is okay with the extra work involved in hosting separate servers for different classes of bike mods, then that would be fine, but I think it is a lot to ask of dibu to do that alone; maybe if some others would be willing to host a share of the bike mod classes this would help dibu with the extra work required to do this?
If dibu could indicate whether he would prefer to have others host a share of separate bike mod classes(If it's decided to go down that route) or whether there would be complications by doing that as far as co-ordination and avoiding data mismatches, etc, etc? Maybe it's better to keep the hosting to one person to help keep the hosting 100% reliable and well organised, namely dibu.  :)

Basically before we can even think of going down the route of possibly separating the hosting of individual Mod Bike Classes, we have to know what dibu and possibly other potential server hosters think and the technical problems or needs that are required to go this way of separating the hosting into individual bike classes.

Personally on the server hosting side of things, I think for now, until GP Bikes is a final release, we should probably just continue as we have and see how things change from Piboso's end in changing GP Bikes to become more Bike mod friendly in particular on the server side hosting of GP Bikes.

On the full Bike MOD do we want to keep the paints with it? Either way doesn't matter to me. More concerned about the file size down the road more bikes it will get bigger. I compare it kind of to On my main computer I have hundreds of movies on it, but it is the TV Show's that suck up HD space the fastest. In our case it's the Paints. Where a bike is roughly 30-70 MB, were a paint is anywhere between 1-16 MB (I noticed several being 16 MB not sure why) Most were in the 3-5 mb range. Some of the bikes have hundreds of paints for them.

11 Days until I update again if any new bikes come out. :) Just wanted to know if people liked having the big download have all the current (at the time) paints.

Personally I think the paint files should be separate from the Bike Mod file. Paints are a personal preference, so it's best to leave the decision of what paints people want for each bike to the individual. They can then just download the paints they want.
Obviously there will be people who want to have every paint in the database so they can see others paints on the online servers, but they might only like riding the 1000cc bikes so they would probably only want the 1000cc bike paints to download. :)

Having said that, I think there has to be one default paint file(could be any paint file) in the paints folder to avoid the dreaded ghost rider when connected online. Lol ;D

I'm also for separating bikes and paints to keep the mod smaller. (At the servers I don't need them anyway).

What I can do is to stop running open MOD servers and run the servers with special categories (e.g. GP1000, GP500, SSP, scooter ...). Then people only need to install the bikes of the category which they want to use.
For the server admin this means to install the complete mod. Klax's 'Bike MODs No Paints' MEGA folder is ideal for this.

What I can't do is running servers for bike classes (e.g. GP, WSBK, Endurance ...). It will be simply too much work - see technical details.

I've no problem at all if other people start to host permanent servers. I started running the servers because I wanted to help PiBoSo and his sims, give a little bit back to a really nice community and because the network things aren't a problem for me (part of my daily business IRL).

Technical details

Situation 1 - we have only one (big) MOD:
-Server
Let's say I want to run dedicated servers for the default bikes and the MOD bikes at one real server. Then I need two GPB installations with tracks, dedicated.ini's and some more stuff at this server. One installation with the bikes folder and one without.
(Already enough work to keep everything updated with 5 physical/virtual servers running but still ok for me.)

-Client
Open category: To connect you need all bikes (complete MOD) which I have installed at the server.
GP1000 category: To connect you only need all GP1000 bikes which I have installed at the server.
GP500 category: To connect you only need all GP500 bikes which I have installed at the server. (ATM only suzuki rgv500)
...

Situation 2 - we have multiple small MODs:
-Server
If I want to run dedicated servers for default bikes and multiple class MODs (N) then I need N+1 GPB installations at the server. That's simply too much work to keep each installation updated.

Im also for splitting the bikes and paints up.
I would prefer every bike in his own "locked/pinned" topic, that way it stays clean from any unnecessary comments. Only to be altered or updated by Author or forum admin about new version releases.

Example:
[Ducati GP12]
[Suzuki GSVR]
etc.
etc.

* this example can also be transferred to the paints section and physics section.

I think its me reading it wrong but.... special categories Gp1000, GP500,SSP,scooter, is that not the same as GP, WSBK, Endurance ?
They are both times categories, so for my dumb brain it seems like the same amount of work? please enlighten me Dibu.

Pinning does not make sense once you have too many pinned topics.
Locking also is problematic, as once locked only an admin will be able to edit/reply (e.g. right now I cannot edit the "GPB unofficial guide", even if I wrote it, as I locked it at the time and I no longer have admin rights). Having only the admins to change the posts may be a bit of a burden (for them and for the authours).

Ony thing I can think is:
MaX.

  • An admin could create a locked and pinned topic that  references all the bikes (more or less as the WIP topic).

MaX.

Agree Max, you can explain it better then me. ;)
Does not have to be locked or pinned, reference too all bikes is a smashing idea.

Did you download each bike separately? Or did you download the file: "Bike MOD 1.50.zip"?

Also when you unzip a zip archive, make sure that the archive hasn't created a folder within a folder which winzip often does if you right click on a zip file and select "Extract to...." , you should always select "Extract here" from the right click sub menue. So just check that each bike has not been extracted within it's own folder. ie: Gpbikes/Bikes/Yamaha M1/Yamaha M1, etc, etc.

Let us know if this solved the problem. Thanks fabio93bg.  ;)

To get a "Data Mismatch", then there must be a difference in the files you have on your system compared to the files on the online servers. Are you sure your not trying to connect to private hosted servers who may have different file set-up than Dibu's main online servers? Also are you sure it's the Bike MOD files at fault and not an updated track on the server that you may not have updated on your system as there have also been a lot of track updates recently?
An interesting test would be to try and see which servers you can or cannot connect to, it could help narrow down the problem.

Just to assure you about paints/skins: You don't need all paints/skins to connect to online servers, just the ones you decide you want to have for each bike, but be aware that if you don't download and install all paints/skins then you won't see all other riders in all their colourful glory while online, you will only see other riders in the plain boring default skins.  :)

Have you downloaded the latest "Misano GP Direction" track and renamed the extracted folder? That will cause a "Data Mismatch"; you should keep the extracted folder name as it is(Misano 01) and just place that folder into your tracks folder.

Continue to let us know how your doing with this problem.  We'll help all we can. ;)

Two things about the bike paints:

For the Honda RCV213 there are two files "LCR - Alvaro Bautista #19.pnt". The tga files seem to be the same but in the newer and slightly bigger one there's a file called "plexi.tga" that makes the paint on the windshield complete.

And for the Yamaha R6 there's a file "Yamaha R6 - Skerp #21.pnt" and one "Yamaha R6 - Skerp #21-1.pnt". In the "21-1.pnt" (older and smaller) the wheels are missing and the livery doesn't look finished. (I also had some trouble downloading the whole folder, because of that "-1".)

It would be great if you or the ones who did the paints could clear this up to have everything clean.

In addition many thanks for continuing the Bike Mod as well!! I already had some trouble joining servers in the time between and needed to try around some time to find the reason.

Thanks for pointing it out. For some reason when I upload to Mega on a rare occasion some files with the exact same names show up not over writing each other. I removed those small files for the Honda and the Yamaha. In my paints folder that I keep track of on my computer it was sorted out, just for some reason Mega was doing duplicates. :/

I see people connecting to server(s) and it takes them a longtime to get in. this is since mod 1.55. Why? i dont know,
the only thing i did is download the piagio zip v0.93 since mod 1.5.0 and i have no trouble other then a longer waiting to get in a server.

Only thing that was added for 1.55 was the  PIAGGIO ZIP POLINI SP 94 CC - v 0.93 . All other bikes are the same as 1.50. I remember when JamoZ was doing the MOD there was a problem with one of the scooters then causing a data mismatch too. No clue why. :/

Should I remove the MOD completely from Peter's server for the race today (Red Bull Rookie -  Class B)?
I can add it tomorrow again.

@Peter if I remove the MOD, I've to shutdown your 'Old School' and 'Cold Turkey' until tomorrow.
@Arvoss, class B replay will be automaticly uploaded at 23:30 CET.

If it's okay with peter I think it would be a good idea to remove the bike MOD as it's not needed for the Red Bull Rookies race, and I've been having lag problem the last two races(unusual for me), but also I have not updated my Bike MOD versions since the last two updates - I don't want any issues connecting tonight.  Lol ;) :)

Yeah thats fine dibu remove the mod and close the old school and cold turkey.

*** If you gonna reinstall the mod 1.55 again after the red bull rookies race can you as an experiment leave the scooters (Vespa and Piaggio) out of the mod?
I would like to see if connecting then goes quicker then it is now.

    Hi Klax,
can you take a look at the download links for the Ducati 749 and Suzuki RG500 please? I been trying to download a fresh set of bikes, all downloaded now except these 2, they give errors.
    Much appreciated!

Hi, just tried they downloaded for me. If you're getting the error and it says it's going to retry. That is a mega thing I can't control, seems like when they get heavy traffic at there servers it happens. Best to keep trying and eventually it will work. It's happened to me a lot also. Just keep trying, try to download a different time of day. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

I downloaded mod 1.70 and placed it straight into the bike directory.. Is that right or wrong?
It didnt work so I took all the bikes out and manually placed them in the bikes folder and it works!
Each time there is an update do I have to delete the existing bike first??

    Sorry noob questions.. :)

If you have a new version of a bike replacing an old one with same directory name, then yes, it's always better to delete the old one first.

O.K. guys, I want to install this mod. but before I go rushing in blindly can someone please just give me some basic guidance on this please?

I am downloading as I type Bike MOD 1.75 zip via the link supplied.

My straightforward "newbie" question is this: Is this the complete & most up to date version of the overall mod? In which case I am correct in saying to play online presumably all I need to do is to install this specific version of the mod?

Or do I need any previous or current updates?

Also I plan to "merge" the content of the "bikes" folder with my existing bikes folder (which I have backed-up) whilst overwriting any duplicate files etc. Is this the correct way of doing the install? This at least feels logical to me & mirrors the way that you install mod. & mod. updates on the gp500 pc game. Please can someone be kind enough to guide me on this?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Tracey  :)

P.S. just downloaded & I have looked at the content of the zip file. It looks as though I also need to install all of the previous BLUE paint updates & RED bike updates also..

Is this correct? I think looking at the mod. zip this is what has to be done..

I could send you a link so you could use it. But it won't be in any releases. It has been updated to a newer version. I didn't want to have multiple bikes of the same bike and same physics, in the mode. For me I like the new version helmet view is much better.

I think your asking the wrong person Vin.... It would be better to talk to one of the authors of the RCV213 to ask them if they could include your preferences for the smaller tyre in the next version released. That way it would be included in the next Bike MOD update if they released it in time.  ;)

Would also enable you to ride it on the online servers.

verify the size of each downloaded file's bike, because if you have downloaded all the bikes in one time in obe folder it can be loose files, mega makes bad thing sometimes, in past we have noted that the aprilia didn't come entire(i know there isn't aprilia for beta5b at this moment)

I just connected the Motoline server on the M1.

When Beta 5 first came out I had a data mismatch problem. Even with no bikes installed. I deleted all my profiles, and made completely new ones.. Also took the bike.pkz made a copy changed it to bike.zip and unzipped it and used the bikes folder inside for GP Bikes. It seemed to fix the problem.

Hmm I could try to reupload new separate bikes folders. Only thing I did different was keep the original zip files from _odi_ and GPBike Italia guys. Usually I remake my own .zip files for each bike.

I don't have the values for the wss bikes because they were in one folder (428MB).
All these values are coming from the Mega page and not from my downloads.
I think Mega makes problem like from the start we begin to use it, sometimes it works good sometimes no.

The size difference can result from a difference in the type of file compression and how much it was compressed. Doesn't necessarily mean something is missing.

I've just restarted my MOD servers. All servers (except Track_19) use the big MOD archive - 892.4 MB on MEGA.

If you have connection problems start with an empty bikes folder and copy only the unpacked bikes of this archive there.

For the love of god thank you guys! It didn't make sense to not have these bikes in beta5, since they all are based on the Murasama. I personally already used them for me in beta5 by copying the murasama.geom file.

Hmm the Suzuki 500 loads fine for me. It is updated to Beta 5b.

The Yamaha R1 was never released on this forum, just on the French one I'm not sure who made it. I have it, I found it very easy physic's model. Even when using DST is is noticeably easier to rider then anything else in GP Bikes.

There is a small bug that I couldn't figure out. On the menu screens the some of the new Beta 5b additions rear wheel sometimes shows it as half in the ground. Not sure why, tried to fix it but nothing seemed to help. The bikes work fine just on the menu screen they display weird.

Yeah, noticed that too. I assume that this matter is connected to the bikestand. Fixing the the bikestand would probably help. Since Juju released the Ducati996 for beta5 and there are no "stuck in ground" issues with this bike, maybe he could help in fixing this issue? Maybe even copying the bikestand from beta5-Murasama could fix this?

Edit: For testing purposes, I just copied "stand.cfg", "stand.edf", "stand_s.edf" from beta5-Murasama into my custom beta5-GSVR folder - and voilá the bike was standing nicely on the ground :)

Just tested you only seem to need the stand.cfg file. Since the .edf's are also model files. Then it would change the stand look, since some of the bikes have different stands. But the .cfg file seems to have the height the stand should be.

Just download this and drop it in all the bikes that don't have it.

Seemed to fix it so far for me.

Maybe you should be more precice for the guys that are not familiar with this issue ;) every bike has a stand.cfg. As far as I understand, this file should replace the "stand.cfg" of those bikes in your 1.90 bike-mod where the bike is "stuck in ground on main screen" - among those are the RC213V, GSVR, GP12 (probably all 1000cc bikes that you added in latest version bike-mod).

there is a difference between the separated bikes and the one pack bikes.
I have put all the skin in the two different bikes folder and see that:

    Separated bikes: 2'165'178'368 octets
    one pack bikes: 2'148'220'928 octets

All are unziped, all have the same paints and the same number of paints. All the bikes have the stand file, I'm now searching from where comes the difference.

I've found: the aprilia rsa250 and the daytona are more little than the separated bikes folders. i know what with the aprilia by me( i changed the sound),
for the daytona i don't know why there is so much difference:
separated: 72 element in the folder
    one pack: 64 elements

    Wich one is the really?
right is the one packes and left is the alone ziped:

The large Bike MOD and the separate .zip bikes. Are made from the exact same files. Before I .zip the full Bike MOD 1.XX, I use that folder and individually zip each folder inside the bike folder. Once that is done I zip the Bike MOD 1.XX folder as a whole.

The single zips are the same folders that are in the full bike mod zip.

The paints are in the data base under paints. I don't include them with the Bike MOD because it would add hundreds of extra megabites. The 990 alone has 390+ MB of paints. So the full bike MOD maybe 1.3 gb, could end up being like 2.7 gb if not more, with all the paints included. I took the paints out in Bike MOD 1.55 I think it was. People can still download what paints they want.

Could you make the folder structure for the paints exactly the same as in the bike folder in the game directory? That way i can just unzip all the paints and throw them into the bike directory knowing they`ll end up in the right place.

Now i have to open unzip all the rars, open up the folders, navigate into the bike/murusama/paints folder and throw them in..which takes up alot of time if you have to do that for every single bike and really isn`t necessary ;)

    Thanks :)

*protip : take a look at this example folder i`ve set up, if you do it like this you can just throw every unzipped folder in the gpbikes directory and the paints will end up in the right bike folder...

No, C21 just made his own physics for the bike, but did not make the bike.. The original author asked for the bike to be removed until they updated it.

For me it`s almost impossible to download anything from Mega. Errors halfway trough downloads, doesn`t matter if i grab single folders or complete zip files. It`s been this way for a while.
That was one of the reasons i had the whole package uploaded in 2 spots, Mega & dropbox. Because not everyone manages to download from Mega.

    Just a heads up...

I've looked in to Dropbox, but the problem is. It's 2Gig for a free account. The Bike MOD / Paint Database is 6.27 Gig's. And growing with new bikes and paints coming out. Mega gives me 50 gigs free. Where as Dropbox I can get 1TB but I'll have to pay a monthly fee.

I think that only holds when you buy a new android phone that participates in that offer. Registering with an old android phone won't deliver the same result i think.

Have you deleted all the 600 in your bikes folder before put in the new?
In the bike selector menu it's now called WSS600 and no more 600.

I've also noticed with a lot of bikes, when you click on the bike selection screen it doesn't sure that it is scrollable up and down but it is. I had this happen before I installed a bike then couldn't find it. Unless I used the mouse wheel and realized that when was scrollable.

Second thing is, that I get "data mismatch" when I try to connect to a server....I instaled every bike individually from Mega, and didnt edit anything. Didnt do anything with paints btw.

There is a problem between ftp version and mega version and official version (haven't check dropbox).

On CBR600 the cbr_600.cfg is different on all my downloads.
In ECU there is a big difference.
In FTP, there is a lot of things configured.
In Dropbox there is nothing configured.
In official version there is some things less as the ftp version.

Could you update the mod please ? All versions aren't the same.

Edit : Same problem for all bikes in fact. All namebike.cfg are differents from all versions of the bikeset.

Ok, I updated the FTP again. No clue why they were different. Unless I put WSS B on the FTP and not C. But I remember putting C on there too. Unless it didn't update when I thought it did.

The Mega and Dropbox would be the same. Since both point to the same folder. For some reason the FTP was different but I just fixed that. So they all should be the same now. If you downloaded from Mega should be ok. If the server is using the FTP they just need to update there bikes.

They should both be for version C. I just downloaded from the GP Bike Italia forum again to check they have the same dates as the ones on Mega and Dropbox. The FTP did differ but I just fixed that about 20 minutes ago.

Only thing I can think of is when the WSS C version came out the FTP had the B version. When I went to update them last night for some reason it didn't I know I hit change newer files. Well I did it again and now the FTP seems to be updated. I check every bikes .cfg file for time and date, and they all match now.

The only thing that didn't match was the FTP. Which I fixed about a hour ago. For some reason when I put the C versions of the WSS in to the FTP last night it did not update the files. Even when I selected change newer files. I did it a hour ago, and it did update them.

The MOD helmets need to be updated by there authors. The suits, Beta 6c new rider model so non of the old textures for the rider will work anymore. New ones need to be made. I don't make any of the MOD's I just put them together in group for easy downloading.

Have you made a new profile folder? When I get cores a lot if I make a new profile folder it seems to help. I had to do it last night. Since even reinstalling the documents/piboso/gpbikes/profiles will still be there.

I'm tempted to say that of course nothing will work if you've deleted the complete game and profiles. Hehe  (Just joking!):P ;D

Now to more serious matters....... Delete everything and do a reg clean and a Cclean, then re-install from fresh gpbikesbeta6c.exe. once installed don't install any mods until you've sorted out your profile and settings and checked everything is running okay with default bikes and default "Victoria" circuit. Only then start to add further tracks and bike MODS.

Don't copy paste any set-ups or anything. Just except that you have to start afresh.  ;)

    Hope this helps.

    Hawk.

The default bikes and track come with the install. Does it work for you just using default track and bikes without any MODS installed?

One advice for the next beta that will require to adapt the mod bikes: please please decide a naming convention and stick to it. E.g. Moto2_<bikename>, SBK_<bikename> etc.
Would make it just a tad easier to live with the current system.

    hey klax,

i think we need a solution for the bikemod-update-interval.
after the latest update there has been two new updates: one for the sbk's and the other is the duc gp10.

to behonest, i wasnt on a "bikemod"-server for the last six or eight weeks.
i personaly update my gpb with every update that is available.

i think the most players do like i do.
i see the problem, that i would take a lot of time to update the bikemod or the server on which it is running so often.

but all in all, its not really usable with this "problem" i think.

( i am not criticising anything, just want to point out that thing :)) )

Have you got the bikes (Honda RCV213, Ducati GP12  and Suzuki GSVR) installed?

Even if you don't the category should be there for the Murasama RC990, Try going to the bike selection screen and scrolling up when selecting the class of bike.

I had this happen to me and found that removing all MOD bikes including the 990 OLD MOD skins I got the 1000 class back and started to install only the beta6c new mod bikes. If your 990 has old additional skins these can be a problem.

Instead of separating them and uploading each bike separately from the full bike MOD. The bike set zip files, will still be put on the Database server on the 1st and 14th. Are there any versions of the RC213V that work with beta6c?

yes, the RCV213V and the GSVR were updated.

Where can I find the download link?

This saddens me, naturally I want to join guys online but to no avail. What to do I can not play online for the last four months. The current Bike MOD is all the newest bikes that we released at the times. In the .zips sections those are the untouched .zip files the italian team has on there website. Only different is for some reason this time they didn't put Bikeset WSBK in the title so it will be listed at the bottom in W.

It would be very very useful if bikes belonging to a bikeset had a name starting with the bikeset name.

This is currently only done in the moto3 bikeset (prefix is "M3_").

SBK bikes have a "sbk" suffix which is much less handy. others (STK, SSP) have nothing.

I've been thinking the exact samething. Alone putting M3_(Bike) in the file folders really helps a lot when sorting things. Hope the other MOD teams do this in the future its a small but very useful thing.

i downloaded the mega-version of the bikemod four or five times -> i can connect to french bikemod servers with open classes, but not to the cc training server.

Sorry Klax. I was still getting "Data Mismatch" even after downloading and installing the RCV v7 into my BikeMOD 2.75 No Paints install. In the end I just downloaded the BikeMOD 2.75.zip file and did a fresh install of all bikes from that and it all works fine for me now, except a few servers(those maybe not updated yet?).... But they are still stated as V2.70 but can still connect to some GPBikes.es servers(moto 3 being one of them that's still stated as v2.70 but can connect with BikeMOD 2.75).

Just a thought, isnt it more about the current version of that bike category than of the bikemod?
I have been able to connect to servers with never bikemod stated, but because f.ex moto3 haven't been updated and the server is a moto3 server, there is no problems, as long as you have the latest moto3? Same goes the other way, do you have the newest BikeMod and try to connect to an earlier BikeMod, there is no problem unless the bike is updated after :-)

Another thing, could the data mismatch come from the track being used is updated and yours is not or the other way?

Just my experience so far, hope it helps :-)

        Good points.
Yes the version of bike causes Data Mismatch not the Bikemod version. This mismatch problem only shows on OPEN servers or servers set with a category of bike at a different version to the one in the players Bike folder.
An OPEN server will check the version of ALL bikes the player has.
Hence, it is NOT a huge problem. Few servers will actually run or race in OPEN.  Its just that there is an anomaly that has been found and its nice to jump on it.

If a track is not at the right version the player wont see the server in the World server list in game. No data mismatch will be seen in this case as the player cant even see it to try and join.

The problem (my understanding after many hours doing server setup) is that there is still an anomaly between the Bikemod.zip and NoPaints downloads. One Klax has found (RCV2014) but there is something else it seems.  Players using the Bikemod.zip seem to be OK.

The real problem is that the anomaly is a bitch to find and we should be patient and respect the huge task Klax has undertaken on behalf of us all.

Like I say, its actually not much of a problem, just more of a niggle.

Still, if the game was able to tell us which damn bike is causing the mismatch (I don't get it, is it that hard ?) we wouldn't even been talking about all that ...

I can easily see a new player joining the community, being mighty pissed off by that stuff and leaving on the spot.

The way we found the GP1000 was two of us using a halving fault finding method - you know load half the bikes in then half it again etc until you find the dodgy bike category, then half all the bikes in that cat until you find 'the one'.  In between each manoeuvre is a restart of server and a log in on another pc as the player etc etc. And sods law says the first half is the wrong half lol.
So I agree, cant the game just tell us! ::)

A simple method would be automated file comparison software. I used to use some for small text files but it would not handle all these files and size and would still be laborious. Maybe someone can suggest a method.

My personal feeling at the moment would be to have ONE SINGLE download and make life easy. But I have asked this question already and the reasons given quantify why we do it like we do.

But my point was (and is) that we shouldn't need all that: we just need the game itself to tell us "Data mismatch on bike Freakazumi 500 turbo 3-strokes and a half" instead of "Data mismatch".
Again, I really really can't see why this is so hard to implement ... it's just one of the multiple PITA we have to endure for apparently no real reason.

Klax - you might want to look at the Freakazumi 500 bike as a possible mismatch.  :D <chortle>

there is a difference between the dropbox and mega rar file, the name of dropbox wsbk v97 contains 1 more space between bikeset and v97By.

Those are just paints for the SBK and Moto 2 bikes. Which the bikes have been in the MOD for a while. I don't put paints in the bike mod to keep down the file size. Other wise it would be 3 to 4 times larger file download.

I really have no clue, the files for Dropbox and Mega are literally the same files. Both of there sync software go to the exact same folder. So if I drop something in the Bike MOD folder, it will automatically start uploading it to Dropbox and Mega.

        Hello Everyone.

Thanks to Peter for pointing it out, I noticed the new Kalex and Suter Moto2 aren't in the Bike MOD 2.90 zip. Only thing I can think of is that I must have hit Control-Z two many times after I copied them over. I'm making a new Bike MOD 2.90 zip right now. The FTP I already fixed to make there they were there.

I'll upload a new Bike MOD 2.90 which will take a couple ours, and I am very sorry they got left out. You can still download the that bike set .zip file

What do you compare exactly ?

If I recall correctly, the sync has all the file timestamps screwed up (i.e. mpoved to the date/time when the file was put on the FTP, instead of preserving the file's original timestamp).

Because the checks when you want to play online do not look at file timestamps, they look at the file content (sort of an MD5 checksum).

        Yikes not Good Hawk.  :'(

I downloaded the Mega BikeMod.zip and ran it on a PC to access my server and it worked OK last week.

I also carried out a comparison (like Peter did) check and there were just a few anomalies - IE no critical to mis-match files.

One thing I would say is to clear your buffers with a PC restart after putting the files in, I had this problem twice before I figured it.

Failing that. My servers are both only the GP500 I would highly suspect the Aprilia not being 'the latest' or something else with it. Maybe remove it and try again to prove?

Hope it helps let us know mate.

I seem to remember we had this same issue last time between downloading just the changed bikes and the whole BikeMOD.zip file..... Seems to me there must be a difference between the two compilations in the bikeMOD database somewhere..... I'm dam sure the problem lies with using auto-sync to update the database because we never had these problems when it was updated manually.... I've never trusted autosync, had problems with it not updating correctly in the distant past so I've never trusted autosync since and never ever will again.  ::) :P

I bet my life that if I download and install the whole bikeMOD.zip file(same as you did to update your server) I'll be able to connect with no problem.....

I'll report back here with my findings after I've deleted all bikes and installed the latest full BikeMOD.zip file.  ;)

Captain Hawkster I am pretty sure you are completely right.

However, not fair to blame autosync if auto sync is exactly the same as Bike mod.zip??  Better to blame the loose files not reflecting the other two?

Poor auto sync lol. Is it supposed to mirror Bike mod.zip or Bike mod.loose files everywhere.

You know I'm kidding about mate, the pain we went through last time sent me a twid mad.  ::)

And I would of lost my money

all compared and correct - the only one I don't compare is the VARESE.

Now, this isn't in the BikeMod because it is a STANDARD bike - so is it a case of you have extracted the VARESE? Hence Mis-match ????

        ;D

I bet my life that if I download and install the whole bikeMOD.zip file(same as you did to update your server) I'll be able to connect with no problem.....

        Hawk.

I only betted money and lost, beware.  Fortunately, you will win with this statement - as it will replace the bikes folder and replace an extracted Varese!  (assuming My theorem is correct)

I used to many moons ago, but now I don't extract the default bikes at all(Lesson learned from dibu.  ;) ).

All I do is create default bike folders with the paint folder in each one so that different paints can be installed for the default bikes.

Just finished installing the BikeMOD.zip compilation..... Testing now.  ;)

As I suspected. After installing the BikeMOD.zip 2.90 version I have no problems connecting at all. This surely means that there must be differences between the BikeMod no paints loose files and the BikeMOD.zip compilation?

just a thought.. would it be better to add and download just the new content? instead of the whole package each time?

have a base package download for newcomers.. bikemod 2.90 with everything there, then just add to it after that..

Post by: Napalm Nick on May 23, 2015, 01:57:42 PM
        That is what happens Bob.

the BikeMod.zip gives everything, should someone want it.

The No paints Bikemod contains individual files to pick and choose. Klax announces new files - people go to No Paints and downloads the new stuff, Klax makes a new BikeMod.zip should someone want it. The routine is sound, its just keeping 3 areas in sync.

IMO the FTP and Mega BikeMod.zip are usually equal.  The No Paints area sometimes has differences.

I am about to compare all the files ......stand by!

        Anyone else get this?

        Comparing the rest now...

OK the results are in - with the exception of the Duke and Speed Up which I still cant download:

        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\d_rr125_07_f_soft.tyre
        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\d_rr125_07_f_ssoft.tyre
        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\d_rr125_07_r_soft.tyre
        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\d_rr125_07_r_ssoft.tyre
        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\piaggio_zip.geom
        15:43:25 \piaggio_zip_sp\piaggio_zip_sp.cfg

There is a difference between NOPAINTS and ZIP with this whole bike. I don't know which is the newer but this would explain mis-matches as far as I can see? (critical geo and cfg files).

Schwing....hope it can be sorted easily this is too much work to be wasted  ::)

Why are the Moto2 bikes not in one M2 zip folder or Bikeset as the M3 ones?

There are however some scooter updates from 09-06-2015 which are not in Bikemod 2.95

I don't get any advanced info if a bike is being released or not. Checking the Italian Teams facebook it said the 250 was reference as release version 1.1 19 hours before I put out the bike MOD. I had to scroll down past all the SBK race resaults to find the new scooters, after PeterV pointed it out.

I think it's well known that Klax is organising the BikeMOD Database, and in doing so has made keeping up to date with any changes bikeMod authors make to their bikes SO much easier than it used to be a few years ago when if you wanted the latest update to a bike you had to go searching for it and even then you couldn't be sure you had the correct version to install to avoid the dreaded server "Data Mismatch" error message on connection.

I just think it would be great if all BikeMOD/paint and helmet authors had the consideration to at least co-ordinated with Klax to make sure that he was aware of any updates and changes to any of the bikeMODS/Paints and Helmets.... This is apparently NOT happening, but I think this is the least they could do considering the HUGE advantages that Klax's work with organising the BikeMOD/Paint and Helmet database brings to us all.

I just wanted to make this statement because I don't think Klax is being given the help and consideration he deserves with all the work he does for us all. It makes his job a lot harder if he is not informed of any changes.

So C'mon guys(All Bike/Helmet Modders, and Paint authors).... Please keep Klax informed - It doesn't take a lot of time and effort to post him a direct download link in a PM for any updates you make. I know it's not hard and time consuming to let organisers know about changes because I do it myself when any changes are made to tracks.... so no excuses.  :P ;D 8)

Just wanted to post I am going to be taking a step back from the Bike MOD for a little while. I've had a lot of things going on here the last month and half. I want to get them sorted out. I'll leave everything up, if anyone wants to continue things I am Ok with that.

As talking to Hawk the other day, for a while. I've been having the worst luck lately. I felt like I was going to wake up and one of my arms would randomly fall off. lol. It's been one thing after another after another. lol :/

I am doing OK, and I am alive.  lol

I'll still be around, and I still love GP BIKES! :D
