Title: GP-Bikes super cool with VR (but could still be improved)
Post by: NickTh1 on October 20, 2020, 07:12:15 PM
I only discovered GP-Bikes now, and I really like it.
I've been really curious if VR would work with a motorbike game - if it would be too weird with the view following - and perhaps even tilting - with the bike.

I'm now 100% certain that it's possible. GP-Bikes almost works IMO. I'm totally fine with the view tilting with the bike. But the sideway 'wobbles' don't feel good.

I also tried mode 1. It's better, but then there's a sideways jitter at low speeds instead. It almost feels like a numeric differentiation precision issue.

Anyway, I mainly wanted to say that I greatly appreciate what's already there.

What kind of wobbles are you talking about?
So far, I have only observed the shaking at very low speeds which is irrelevant to actual riding.

When using "lock to bike" the brake wobbling is very nauseating. Other than that, I think it works just fine!

Yeah, when in mode 0 ('lock to bike', I assume), when the bike itself wobbles, it's pretty uncomfortable in VR. I don't think it's very realistic either, since your head in real life wouldn't follow the bike like that.

Mode 1 is mostly fine. As you say, the jitter is almost inperciptible at higher speeds.
