Title: GP-Bikes praise
Post by: NickTh1 on January 09, 2021, 03:38:51 PM
I have nothing important to say - I just want to praise GP-Bikes VR a bit.

I think there is no other category of game that is enhanced as much by VR. You get enhanced depth perception etc, which helps making breaking more consistent. The thrill of being so close to the ground at such high speeds is unparalleled. And determining the correct angle to lean and the correct speed to take corners just becomes so intuitive (I use tilt 50% and lock-to-bike disabled).

I'm no bike-game person by any means (or bike-person either for that matter), but I have tried a bunch of other ones recently (Ride 4, MotoGP, TT Isle of Man II etc). Although I also really like Isle Of Man games, I think physics in GPBikes - with VR in particular - is still a couple of notches more plausible and intuitive (it takes a while before you get the hang of it, of course, but once you do, it feels like second nature).

It's weird, but despite not being much of a game per se, GP-Bikes is up there with my top VR games ever - maybe the best ever (I've played more than 100 VR games). MX-Bikes is cool too - but not quite at the same level IMO.

Anyway: nice work! Hope you make a steam version eventually.

I fully agree. VR is a gamechanger for GP Bikes and maybe racing games in general.
The other big game changer would be better input devices.

Yeah, pretty much anything but a regular gamepad.

@doubledragoncc Been lurking on your set up and love it! Does it feel weird not leaning over on the sit on? (It doesn't seem to be too weird as you still kill it on the track)  8)

IT actually feel quite normal. In VR it is so good.

I am working on a motion system but keeping it costworthy and producable is hard.

Many make the mistake of looking at my systems and not thinking.

It works on lean angle not steering input.

New videos coming soon..............
