Running "MaxTM_Viewer.exe"  (v 1.12) :

"..not a valid Win32 application"

Is this a 64bit app ?

And / or ... not supported on Win Xp Sp3 ? (32 bit)  (ya ya, "old"  O.S.)

>The first post has been edited ... Before asking a replay, now the replay file for gpb lol

Well I thought the meaning of  "replay" was obvious, as in the GPB replay menu.

If I wanted to see video, I would have written that  ;D

Anyway, thanks for posting your vid.

I've just found out about the telemetry file(s).  They are much more useful, and a whole lot smaller (being txt files).

So if you'd like to post your telemetry files, that would be great !

Pitlane full significates you forget to do something in the rdf file(pit;start/finish;and so...)

I guess that's the "consumer" / "non-developer" error message  8)

Would be nice if the sim had a "debug" option, where the exact error could be spelled out.

** I redid it, and it's "working" now.

"Working", in that the bike is still in the "pit room", but now it faces directly the left wall ... LOL.

Maybe if I add some kind of offset to pit lane coords, the bike will be out on the actual pit lane ? .. Will try that.

Oh yeah, which bike  ;D

I've been riding the Ducati GP15 the most, but I haven't found a whole lot of difference between it or the Aprilia_RS-GP15 / _Honda_RC213V / Suzuki_GSX-RR / Yamaha_YZM-M1

Any 990cc / ~200 mph capable bike.

So whatever is your favorite  ;D

Hi,
That's gpbikes it doesn't like micro bumps :-)
Mosport has been very very smoothed with 3dsmax, imola too.
It depends on many things and we can't all do better than the original track,  but at our best.

I think it might ? also happen when the track curves ?  I.e. at Imola it's right at the point in the straight where it sharply bends to the right.

On other tracks on a long straight, there are bumps, but not like the violent shaking I get at that right bend at Imola.

But it's obviously something to do with the camera algorithms as well.  In 3rd person, there is hardly any shaking.

I guess that's because the "helmet" cam is "attached" to the bike?

If the 3rd person view could be adjusted to be where the helmet cam is, or the helmet cam was "detached" from the bike or attached to the bike with some kind of "virtual spring", then it would be more realistic.

I've watched a lot of "onboard" (real life MotoGP, and "track day GoPros", and none of them shake as bad as GBP's "helmet cam".

I got to get out to the Superbike School and see the real thing  ;D

Pib has released a new version of TrackED that should fix this problem. Try downloading the Track Tools package again.  ;)

Hawk.
Thanks, TrackEd doesn't crash now, but ...

The sim says "Pit Lane Full" after I changed the heading to 90.0 (from 0.0).

I guess Victoria's pits are unique since the bike is "inside" the pit "chamber"

No worries, using the Ducati GP15, it's no problem turning quickly and at low speed.

I'll try the Murasama 990 again, maybe my skills have (slightly) improved :)

@whoever-modelled-Imola_v1.2  / Mosport Park V1.1:

Have the two (Imola) long straight-aways been deliberately modelled with "extra" bumps?

Or is that in imperfection / defect in the modelling process, or the sim ?

I find them almost un-rideable with "helmet view", and can just barely keep the bike on the track with 3rd person view (which I don't really like using, .. fake... cheating etc).

And Mosport's back straight also seems extremely bumpy.

I was among the slowest drivers at Iracing (not for lack of trying) (let membership lapse), and no surprise, seems to be the same story with GBP.   Guess I'm too old / never had the reflexes (my computer is too slow lol).

Watching Iracing replays of other drivers, (marginally) helped me speed up by seeing the correct racing lines, and speeds, braking etc.

It would be great if any of you could post a (link to ? ) GBP replay file of your hot laps.

Telemetry files are even better / preferred -  more info, much, much smaller file sizes !

While "youtube" videos are nice, they almost never have the replay "header" displayed (speed), and they obviously do not have the capability of switching camera views.

Right now I'm trying to get below 2:00 (helmet view), 1:50(3rd person ) at Imola_v1.2 (lol, I told you I was slow), and would love to see a ~1:40 or better replay

I copied tracks.pkz to tracks.pkz.zip, unzipped it to  gpbikes\tracks\victoria, and renamed the tracks.pkz to tracks.pkz.off.

Opening the victoria.trp in TrackEd, and clicking on view/race data is crashing TrackED :(

Can any of you guys confirm TrackED crashes with the same procedure?

Is it because it's an "old" track, and I need to download a newer version from the MEGA site ?

The pit / angle thing is more than annoying to be sure, but microscopic in importance compared to the "track hole" crashes.

Is the "90 degree thing" a European tradition ?

Mosport, Laguna, Limerock, Imola, all line up "normally" (heh, what *I* call normal).

No I don't think it is a Euro tradition, just a preference of the track author who put the bikes in that position.  :)

Actually I think 99% of all tracks have the bikes positioned reasonably in the pits for ease of getaway.... But I wouldn't go as far to say that there is a normal pit start position, it's whatever the riders prefer.  ;)

But whatever, it is an easy thing to alter, just that you need to gain the authors permissions before you do that if you want the track to be included on the race servers or in the track downloads database.  :)

Hawk.

Ok, I downloaded TrackEd, and it was an easy fix for the Donnington pits.   Thanks for the pointer to TrackEd !

Instead of the track developer's  "whim / preference", I would have thought they would model the pit positions according to the real world races are setup.  But I haven't seen any videos yet of motoGP "in pits", so I have no idea what the "standard" (if it exists) is.

As a side note on the direction a bike is positioned in the pits.............It is a BAD point that the Demo of GPB starts with the bike as it is as for a new rider they are put off by the fact it can be hard to get out of the pit before they can ride!!!

To be very honest this is a MAJOR put off for new sales and should be addressed.

Such a simple point but MASSIVE for sales to newbies!!!

DD

Are there any "new sales" ?   The messages I keep reading on the forum are GPB sales are minimal, and therefore that's why development is not a "priority".

The pit / angle thing is more than annoying to be sure, but microscopic in importance compared to the "track hole" crashes.

>If you require a change of initial spawn position for your testing then you'd have to >reposition the bike pit lane positions via the race data pits facility in TrackED.

Does TrackED work on "binary" / compiled track files?  Or on the "source" files?

>But why would you want to change the start position for testing a bike?

Well Victoria Circuit, and a few other ones spawn the bike in a pit position,  oriented 90 degrees to the pit lane.

When I first started using the sim, it took me "forever" to get the default 990 quickly turned 90 degrees without falling over.

Another track I just downloaded, (forget the name will check), spawns the bike the same way, with a pit wall even closer than Victoria.

With the motogp bikes, I can more easily get the bike turned quick enough.

With some of the other tracks I've tried, the bike IS oriented properly (parallel) to the pitlane to start with.

So either "sloppy" track building, or some kind of incompatibility with the tracks construction, or the designer has chosen ? to orient the bike at 90 degrees to the pit lane ?

Is it possible to edit a "compiled" track file(s) to change the Testing bike start position ?

How?

Which file(s),  hex data ? .. Offset ?   Value ?

Either PB need to make the sim more tolerant or testing and quality control of tracks need to improve. The track modders have requested that known problem locations are accurately reported in the track mods section so they can patch them.

For reference and tracing graphic driver issues the sim is OpenGL not DirectX

Ok, OpenGL.   The point is, I'm wondering if the crashing is specific to the GBP code, or if any OpenGL program will crash when using a track mesh.
