Your setup is very cool, DD. I would love to have something like it with a Cagiva or NSR500 chassis to play GP Bikes and other bike games that will allow it.

Updated first link with corrections to a packing mistake. I also redid from scratch both Norick Abe's suits with a very high level degree of accuracy, including a lengthy edit of the AO layers and normal maps.

Do you have the Varese's folders/package to share?

GPbikes accepts any controller you can see in windows so compatibility is probably not an issue.
The push/pull motion of the yoke would be interesting! But what would you use as throttle/clutch? Pedals?

For throttle/braking I figured it could be the lever. Other actions would be limited by the buttons available. It was just an idea, nice to know (thank you, teeds) that it can work.

I've been away from playing any games for a long time but may be getting back to the hobby soon. I've recently came across a flight stick and was wondering about their functionality with GP Bikes, if anyone has had success with them. I found a couple of example photos of what I was thinking about, online:

GP Bikes is more of a sandbox title than a proper game. It's up to the user to make something out of it than to "plug and play," plus it lacks assists to help those curious or transitioning from other motorcycle racing titles.

Any advance? Something new? It would be very important and great to have Shah Alam!!. You can do it guys

There's no longer scratch-built third-party content for GP Bikes*. If a circuit hasn't been made during the 1999-2007 period for Papyrus or ISI games, or available in Simbin or Milestone games (or Assetto Corsa mods), it has 0% chance of existing in the game and why very few tracks are accurate or decent looking.


*and whatever there was, was very, very few and specific content

First post update with everything redone plus new material. No changelog in this post because every previously existing item was remade or revamped, with the biggest items being boots and truly accurate suits. New GP 500 add-on previews have also been added.

I might update this in the future if I find better reference images to create Carl Fogarty's 1994 Cagiva wildcard entry, and of course to keep up with any future updates to the mods themselves. This is a labour of love and will not be abandoned.

As usual, a detailed readme is available with relevant credits provided. The files themselves contain credits of the original authors and/or converters too. If you have any overwriting messages due to how you install things, it is safe to overwrite.

What changed was the installation folder path, moving from "gpbikes/content" to "mods/content."I use mods installed through JSGME and I've reconfigured the folders to work for that structure or that can just be dragged and dropped into the game's installation folder.  You can look at some content available through my signature and I've included readme.txt files as well.

Final planned post on this topic as the first post has been updated. Extensive rework of all previous paints with the addition of a lot more, with new boots, ambient occlusion, updated normal maps, and a very detailed readme document. The first post will be updated any time there are further refinements or other changes, and the links will remain active.

First post edited with a monumental update. Previous textures have been revised, meaning updates to suits and all new boots, plus the Honda drivers have been added. The research and recreation of a few things was very tough due to the lack of reference images/footage but I was able to get it all to a good enough point. Hopefully this is enough incentive to have a Historical Edition of the GP 500 mod at some point.

Playing devil's advocate here but what concept of "Early Access" is difficult to grasp? Remember GP Bikes build 1 or build 2? It is a problem there is no demo, yes. You may wait until v1.00, like myself, and peruse user feedback or take a chance and try it out in a 2-hour window. Regarding other commentary going around, constructive feedback about riding mechanics and even content is the best way to communicate and incite change.

The original mod only had a handful of bikes from the early 90's (Doohan & Gardner's 1992 Honda, Lawson's 1992 Cagiva, Schwantz's 1993 Suzuki and Kocinski 1994 Cagiva) so I decided to expand the grid. I created new content focusing between 1991 through 1993 and fixed/tweaked existing source Milestone textures to create additional bikes and riders for a few of the teams in the GP 500 mod. This means both bike and suits (sometimes including scratch-made helmets, boots, and normal maps). As a bonus, I have also recreated suits for Norifumi Abe's 1993 All Japan and 1994 Suzuka entries, and Valentino Rossi's 2004 non-tobacco variant. Sadly, all bikes have the same performance (by design of the original mod), so you won't be able to enjoy the different characteristics of each - but at least they'll look very good!

If you already have the GP 500 mod, you can choose to only download the 500cc expansion (which works standalone). If you don't, you can download the complete v1.5 pack. Both will install and load ingame, with rider-specific helmets and suits neatly organized as well. PS: You will need to get the Modern Rider model and Helmet megapack (both available through the link below in the Extras folder) to correctly load all textures.

For the additional content, I have re-arranged all relevant textures (bikes, riders, helmets) to their respective bike/rider folders (Cagiva 1991 and 1992 paints are in the C592's folder) and deleted irrelevant textures such as forum user skins or modern paints from the packs. This means a few Gb are saved in the process and the folders are better organized. The folder structure is compatible with the latest GP Bikes update, so this is drag and drop into your "Piboso" folder in My Documents. All files are safe to overwrite originals without risk of online mismatch.
