General Discussion / Re: New official track

Because as he stated we already have a very good modded version of Mugello

However we do not have a good version of Assen current or part layouts.

It was an opinion poll not a vote on which track "would be" made

Don't worry. It takes time to learn, and like you, it took me a good few years of on-off tinkering until I got my head around how it works.

Like BH has pointed out, watch tutorial videos. And start with something a lot simpler than an engine. Don't even start with motorcycle parts. Take a basic object on your desk and try to recreate it in 3DS or whatever you decide to use.

The first bike i "made" was a bodge together of parts like you have linked to. I used the swingarm, engine, forks, wheel and fairings model from random bikes from online and a chassis that I made. It looked like a dog and I couldn't actually get it to work in the game because the Polygon count was so high GPB couldn't handle it :P

Start small but think big, you'll get there ;D

Edit- THIS is a nice basic tutorial on modeling. He explains his button presses and workflow which is important for beginners.

Would make a good track for GPBIKES too! 😉

To this day it remains to be Britain's first, and only purpose built formula one track. Silverstone, brands, Donnington etc were all airfields.

I have tried to get it into GPB, but my nodding skills are nowhere near able to get anything done aside from paints

Have you got a copy of the track from another game??  If so, send me over any files you've got and I will see what I can do.

Short awnser- yes

Short version of the long awnser- Not nessecerily worth it.

The amount of time potentially fixing a model might not be worth it. However, for a first project then yes these could be good starting point for a new modder. Assuming these are royalty and licence free models (I know they are free to download but may need some commercial aspect when used for anything but personal use)

If you can remember the last time this discussion occoured bit is extremely difficult to accurately reproduce the sound of any bike in game.

For me even the MotoGP 19 engine noises sound odd everything sounds like it was recorded in an aircraft hanger. So even the pros struggle
Good to hear.

Keep it up and us updated Piboso ;D

Very clever.  :D

Is the travel similar to that of a real bike??

No, There is only the M2 bike as standard now. The GP1000, GP500, and 125 bikes have been removed (not sure why ask Piboso :P)

You will need to add tracks to see the servers online or check this website- https://stats.gp-bikes.com/servers.php  To see all of the servers available and which tracks are being used and need to be downloaded. (There aren't a lot of servers online at the moment but if you start a session people will join in)

Quote from: Hawk on June 25, 2019, 08:46:52 pmIt would help shut-down this debate if Piboso would explain his thoughts on the matter in more detail so we could understand better why he doesn't seem to think it would be a good direction to take with his projects, or to find out whether it is definitely something he has and is indeed considering for the future, near or far? ;)  :)

Maybe it's time for another state of the Union, Piboso.

Models aren't an issue. They are just models. The main problem is weather the base code would be at all compatible with the unreal engine.

Would it be worth it? Maybe. Only Piboso would know that.

I will be honest considering how far this engine has come, assuming the graphics side can be updated, I wouldn't just abandon it. As Walken said, Piboso has 100% control over its direction and what "can" be done with it.

More smaller updates would be beneficial than waiting 6 months to a year for each game. Also patching would be useful as opposed to full updates.
