General Discussion / core.exe test track

This track has been made to test core.exe with track model.  It very basic.  What I have done is make a single large poly and paint a track on this poly, I have used only TRKASPH naming.i cant name the grass or three be more polys.  There can't be any bumps with single poly (can there?) and there cant be any holes with a single poly (can there?) I've included the 3dmax file and textures. there no dynamic surface either. It bare bone basic track, cant make it any simpler

People report core on all track made by all authors, including my tracks, this should be a conclusive test if it track models or a collsion code problem. there just simpley cant be mesh problem causing core.exe on a single poly, so it could be good test for future reference for track makers.

If no one get a core there it has to be how the polys and quads are joined causing random core's, I don't think it possible to make  a good track without using mulit poly or quads,

Is there a new way to make track animation work or is it bugged?

Any info on how to sound effects to tracks would be great.

I'm planning on working though the BSB tracks either updating exsisting tracks or creating track that we don't have. I've still got lots to learn about this and hoping by the end of making these I have good looking playable tracks. I'm hoping to learn more about  .SHD files and  unwrapping and more technics for making the surface playable as the currant one I'm using don't always give the result I hope for.

Some texture come with 3 maps,  im not to sure where one is surspose to go, any have a clue

It don't play as well as saintwest track but is a lot more playable now. I smoothed some bumps, change the startline postion as this was in the wrong place. the 125cc still no easy to get round but the bigger bikes have no problem now.

Think that all the motogp tracks smoothed and looking better, There a lot more playable now and just in time for the new GP season.

looking at the files I have I belive I try and do the BSB track's in the UK.

removed all the teeth chattering bumps which cause the 125 to crash also added afew more models as it looked abit dated. plays a lot better than before. stats reset and generated surface added.

Tracks / silverstone no bumps

I've had a try with this track, The model very bad to start with and looks like it been messed around with already. this might sound daft but I work off the grass edge vets and a lot has been moved around making it hard to remove all the bumps the way I smooth , Track is more playable now as two corners crashed even the 1000cc bike every lap, the 125 can be got round but afew conrers need learning and the 1000cc much better. 

The chance the track model might need remaking but give it a go and see what you think.

I've add some new models put an astro turf edge round the track, place skids marks and decals for startingline grid spots. 125cc goes round pretty good except one corner (it always one corner on every track  :'(_ 1000cc goes round well now. generated surface added as well. Smoothed out afew corners where the front end chatter kept the bike failing but left in some on the exit of corners.  timing been reset and seems to be working.

I'll work on Silverstone next see if I can improve parts of that track.

Got rid of most the bad bumps, 1000cc plays really well 125cc is easy to crash on a couple of corners. Bug with the shadow on the starting grid I fix later on.

This place was horrid to make work and I could of biten off more than I could chew, The 125cc not easy to get round it don't like the compressions at all even though the surface has been smoothed, 1000cc goes round ok but the track hard on braking as most are down steeps slopes. Not 100% happy with the out come for the 125cc but no so certain it the track fault,

Alby46 kindly made the cameras for me, there a lot better than I could of done at the moment. so thanks to him for that.

I've been looking at some of the smaller less well known tracks and thinking on how to improve the track model as some look very basic, it not very easy as I cant just add grandstand or other large objects as this is unrealistic, Im thinking along the lines of making them look like unoffical test tracks. I know the teams use dev rider for testing at unofficial tracks so would like to add afew simple models to make them look like a factory testing day,

I only know basic photoshop skills and would like to know if any of the painters out there could help paint 4 models for me to use in the future. I've included a flag, van, lorry, person.  If someone could paint these in the motogp team colours it would be a great help in making the smaller tracks look alittle better and more in tune with GPbike  thream.

Was getting pi$$ed off with assen first corner crashing every other lap trying to practice for this weekends race, so decided to smooth it out, Can push as hard as you like into the first corner now with out fear of crashing.

 The 125cc goes round without crashing as does the 1000cc, A lot worse then I thought after only riding the 1000cc only three corners were left untouched for the 125 to be able to get round. Can push abit round there now with out to much fear.. Last circane came out better than I thought it would, there abit of camber which sucks the bike in but with out the ripples they come out the other side



Timing and replay should be working,

I not messed with cameras much.

Is the camera file         TSC file? should it be named the same as rest of file, ie TRP/RDF/

What postion should the track be in 3dmax so it shows up in tracked for marshal and camera placement.

Finished working on Brno, im really happy with it the 125cc now hussle round without to many problems, the uphill corner still tricky but I think that down to physic rather than road surface. I knocked 3 seconds off my PB with the motogp bike and 12 seconds with the 125cc.

I've had to name the track different as there no code to swap the bumpy old one for new smoother one on the timing stat page, Now called Brno gp

Tracks / Best bike for track making?

Im confused.

Been testing the tracks with the default 990, This bikes seems to go round everywhere okish, If I try with the 500/125/R6  they crash a lot more and on corners which you would not expect. Is there something wrong with the bikes compared with the 990 or should I make tracks which the 125 can't crash on if that possable

Been having some lession on track making. there some real bugs with the cam/marshal software. one track don't even show the track in the viewer ::). Seems to have a randon postion 3d space. could it not be tied into centreline start postion so the viewer always at the startline. Marshal are easy to do once the flag man put in place just delete and repostion. Cameras seem to have a mind of there own at times, With all the other cameras it don't seem to important anyway.

tried some bump fixs on a track this seems easy enough to do but can't update the track on the stats page as the prev  track code not up to date or incorrect from the download page :'(.

125 still crash's easy but they crash easy on Honda hairpin on Philp island, it like they hit the floor or something.

Every hill/slope all the bikes seem really weird to ride no matter how smooth or bumpy the surface is.

I like to see total laps practice on the records page for everyone, Hotlap server counts them up be nice to see on the official page as well.

Thought I try this modding stuff to see what it all about. It suck's and it boring as hell and I never wont to do it again. with a lot of help I finished the track but did come across two really stupid things, one I can't do marshal or cameras as I don't have a right Ctrl button on the keyboard to move the image about and 2nd the track had no shadows,He tried something to get it to auto shadow, something to force it, then made a decal non of this worked, We tried 4 different pictures before the track showed shadows with one. blahh

It pretty simple french track but in the youtube vids there nothing there anyway, probily a good thing I won'ted to kill myself after 100 picture needed adding
