General Discussion / Re: ¿Why GPBikes dont grow?

QuoteAnd sometimes it is difficult to find the necessary content for the servers. Maybe it would be possible to add a server description where to place the download links.

I.e. in server list I see SBK22 0.1. Where can I find this. Search in forum gives no result.

Support / Calibration doesn't work
October 19, 2022, 02:40:19 PM
I wanted to see again after years what has become of GPBikes.
So I downloaded the demo, installed GPBikes and started it.
After I was in the menu I could calibrate under Settings. The bars in the Input menu worked after that. I could also configure buttons for the gear shift.
After I went on the track neither throttle nor steering worked. When I went to Settings, the throttle/brake/steering bars no longer worked.
After restarting GPBikes, I could no longer calibrate, the bars no longer worked.

What happened? Does anyone have any ideas?

Bug Reports / Re: Crash on Startup Beta 14

It's a missunderstanding, doubledragonic.
I wrote this:

I got the 0x000007b failure message with Version 14 some years before and I got the same with version 16 and yesterday with version 18b too.

I would like to try out new GPB version, but since Beta 14 I have also the 0x000007b problem like moeppling.
I have WIN10, 64bit.
Only GPB produces this problem.

Quote- support for penalty surfaces ( that are sadly becoming a necessity because tracks are more and more replacing runoff areas with asphalt    )
Yes, runoff areas are a big problem. Overtaking manoeuvres from some drivers in run off areas without any guilt feeling killed my motivation to drive GPB.
Maybe because Grand Prix Legends is "playing" in the seventieth (on tracks without run off areas) 20 years after its release there are still exist some leagues.

Support / Error 0*C000007b
February 13, 2019, 04:47:22 PM
I would test GPB Version 15, but I get after Installation - if I try to start core.exe - the error message
0*C00007b.
My system is Windows10 64Bit.
All other exe files works like it should.

Any idea?

General Discussion / Re: GP Bikes beta14
August 14, 2018, 07:09:45 AM
QuoteI found yesterday that gp500 bike (the original varese one) has the correct grip off track ! so i think all mod bike need to be upgraded to the new offtrack grip level !
Interesting. Maybe it's problematic to use MOD bikes so long GPBikes has too many issues. Maybe the issues exponentiates with MOD bikes.
Maybe it would be better to make a championchip with the original gp500 bike.

After reading the commentars in this forum and I found not many drivers at the servers I'm demotivated to install GPBikes14. And the remembering at many  overtakings  at run-off areas increases my demotivation.

Suggestions and wishlist / Corner cutting penalty
May 16, 2018, 06:07:27 AM
Because I have seen a lot of corner cutting - in same cases with overtaking - in official races I would suggest to increase the cutting penalty from 5 to 10 seconds.
I have heard after the third cutting the driver will be disqualified. Because of the fact that the cutting technology couldn't work 100% perfect (some unguilty drivers that make only a mistake will be penalisied) I would suggest to get the driver the back flag at the fifth cutting. Then maybe the track builders have more courage to set more and stronger checkpoints.

Or maybe the number of max cuttings can be an adjustable parameter definded by the host.

I had no problems at Motegi.

In the moment of Gzehoos retreat I promised to suspend judgement about the championchip. Now the championship is over...and I would do a retrospection.

But before that I would thank Gzehoo, teeds, Manu and Wimp for their work. My first online bike championchip brought much fun for me.  :)
But for the next championchip I think something could be a bit more professional (I'm a hard man to pleased).  ;)

In my sight this things wasn't ideal in the past championchip:
1. Wimp win all races (if he participated), except he is starting without qualification. Big gratulation to Wimp! You are really the best!
But in real life it's unrealistic. If Doohan dominates the GP500 championchip in the 90th he doesn't won all races. I miss the consequences of mistakes, crashes (if it's not the own fault too). Without that the results of the races are very predictable.
2. Many tracks have a lot of run-off areas. If drivers uses this areas they have an advantage. Like I said on another place it's like playing volleyball without defined playing field. Even if the driver lifting the throttle that he doesn't have an advantage it's not good for suspense, 'cause faults have no effects. That's another reason that the results are predictable.
3. I think we all have better races if we can split the races in a faster and a slower grid (if we have more than 24 participants). In some races I loose totally my concentration initiated by early overlappings.
4. In the first races some people couldn't race because the server was complete.
5. The results/classification wasn't transparent. For some races I couldn't find the result from the other (15CET) race (except Motegi).
By the way: Before I decide to bying my GPB licence sometimes I have had a look in the forum in threads from test races. Often I doesn't see a result. So I thought because that "there must be bigger problems with GPB"...and do not buy the licence.
5.1 At Assen I get a higher score in classification than #6 Alvaro, but he was an half minute faster than me. Maybe he has driven the 15CET race too and was slower in this race but I can't know that (can't find a result from 15CET race)?
5.2 At Aragon vice versa I have driven one lap more than Alvaro and I get a lesser score. I know in this race GPB forgot to count some laps of some drivers. And maybe the original GPB result would be used for classification. But I missed the information about that. And I'm sure in one or more earlier races the result would be corrected.
5.3 For the past championchip we had only a few rules. One was 80% rule. It seems this rule was considered in some races (the first races I think) in some not(the last races).
5.4 The comparing of overlapped and not overlapped drivers wasn't correct. I said it more than one time, but nobody except me see this problem.  :-\

Unfortunately for 1. and 2. I have not really an idea what we can do at the moment to make it better, but we can make 3., 4. and 5. better: transparence, clear definition to 5.2, and so on.

Racing / Re: Anyone Racing the old GP500s?

I have only tried the original PiBoSo GP500 bike.
At the moment I need 20 laps for one lap without crashing, but I'm fascinated, 'cause it's so difficult.  ;D

So this race we've seen a bunch of lapped riders without consideration and very bad manners, forcing us to risk our race to overtake them; what should we do about this?
I had a dream: Next week GBP14 will be punished included the fixed multiplayer issues. The people who couldn't race online before, can do it with GPB14. Because of that in the next championchip will be 45 interessents again. In this championchip runs two servers at the same time, a first grid server for the fast guys and a second grid server for the others.
So the number of overlappings will decreasing very much. So for the most part the problem will resolve itself.
