And now you have me thinking about my first skin - I must check the file size.

Ultimately, I wonder how tracks, bikes, paints, servers and mods will be handled in the final release and how much will be left to the community That's a question for the future.

Well I knew there must be a good reason and I appreciate you taking the time to explain from your point of view. It helps me understand the way the chi flows round here.

Now you say that the track updates are only appx once every 3 months then yes there is no problem manually updating locally. Its just a shame players are unlikely to ever get all the rider and lid paints ( and bike paints)  so their games and replays will always be ugly. I suppose a simple solution to this would be to make the default 'white' bikes something nicer. It does explain to me why we do the 'skin-packs' for the champ races.

The reason for my post was a quest for lazy Nirvana really.  I mean one program (syncback) with 3 profiles all sync-ing bikes, tracks and paints automatically means more time playing the game, less time pulling the hair out. 

I need to digest your last sentence a little more to understand it. For instance my games PC with a full bike mod download installed from Mega on it couldn't connect to my server today (mismatch no matter what bike selected) after the server did a full bike sync. Which implied the two are not the same. On investigation there appeared to be something awry with a 'miscellaneous' zip.  If people have a data mismatch now on my server surely its because their data is old. I mean, my server is checking its in sync every hour!  (Yes I'm going to change that)

" not all server admins stick to the BikeMOD version update dates, so.....".           This is the bit I'm not getting. Do you mean they are not syncing at the same time the Mega and Drop box files are updated and therefore getting behind compared to what players may have?

Thanks Hawk, its a shame we can't just auto sync our brains eh. One big knowledge base  Mind you, you don't want some of the crazy stuff I'm carrying.

yes sorry that server is only just being set up and was a test track for my own checking of server automatic results saving etc today.

This daily event is not yet ALIVE but is coming! As you may have read about and VOTED on??

However, the tracks and bikes are now the latest - synchronisation has occurred!

I would appreciate people trying to join it to make sure all the settings are correct and Pings are OK etc.

Let me know if there are any problems please guys.

Bear with me on this.....

I've set up my dedicated server OK (for the possible Daily Races) and have applied this auto-syncing magic for the bikes (and paints) without any hitches.  .

So my next logical ( ) question is can we do it for the Rider (leathers) and Helmets and Tracks?

It seems SUCH a good way of doing things especially for server admins. There must be a reason its not being done I wonder what it is???

I'm happy to run with this as the 'Events co-ordinator' no worries and I will do 90% of the work. All I need is a wing-man who can run a couple of days when I  can't make it. Once I have sorted the format this will be easy enough when I can't do it.

So as far as I'm concerned its just a case of numbers interested - if we hit 30 leave it to me and I'll sort it then all anyone needs to do is advise me along the way and have some race fun

Would you believe, thanks to the forum tutorials and JJs PM's actually have a server up! Called Daily Race Server. Still needs testing and fine tuning and the PC it is hosted on needs all the tracks, Bikes, etc loaded but Im cheering so far.

If anyone has the time to see if they can join etc please let me know your findings.  Dont expect it to work all properly just yet Im just playing but I cant do any more on it for a few hours now. Use Default bikes only.......MotoGP Quallie time!

I would also like to suggest keeping the same track for one week and increasing the category daily.

For example

WEEK1 - ARAGON

125cc Monday
Moto 3 Tuesday
250gp Wednesday
WSS600 Thursday
SS1000 Friday
Moto 2 Saturday
Gp500 Sunday.

Or whatever people want bearing in mind other races going on that will impact rider numbers on certain days.

This idea will make it easier for all to only check they have the right track once a week and build rider skills at each track.

     OK so I have learnt about 'skinning' the last cupla days and I will learn about setting a dedicated server for the next few days. I saw some good tutorials round here somewhere.  I have 150mb down and 10~20mb up if you think that will be enough?  Keeping the family off every evening might be more tricky. Utilizing one of the existing servers would still be preferred.  But, we have options...

     I am happy to run this event if we can agree on keeping it simple. Registrations, skin packs and the like every day in my opinion, will be too much to administer both for the riders and admin in the couple of hours after work and before race practice every evening. I would also need a wing man to take over when I can't do it which may be quite often.

     I'm sure we must already have the skin packs from previous races which could be put in the server as a starting point then others can drip-feed in as required?  I need to read up again on the mods database thats kept. Or just use the base default bikes. Its the race fun that's important in this event. Personal custom Skins could be for the more important championships.

I also believe there should be some way of riders saying they will turn up for each race (or I expect it will dry up) by some form of daily 'registration' but it needs to be simple. As yet I haven't thought of a solution to this. A thread each day is the obvious solution but man that's gonna get tiring every day.

The great news is even just today we have 10 people interested so I think its a go-er.

Everyone is invited to chip in their suggestions here please but try to ask yourself if that is the simplest solution first.
