hi all
of course, i know the basic differences between a hard and soft, wet or dry tyre, but i see some bikes have the option of a 'Hard-Soft' and 'Soft-Hard' tyre choice as well.
these latter types are new to me, it's the first time i've heard of them. can someone shed some light for me, what the differences between those are...?

General Discussion / Bikes airborne....
August 28, 2015, 11:35:23 AM
lol, so i'm still trying new tracks out, and still there's quite a few i haven't raced yet, as i tend to stick to one until i have a good handle on it.
having recently watched the Cadwell Park round of the BSB champs, it got me thinking as to what tracks we have for GPB that have any jumps that will let a bike get airborne.
so far it's only Cadwell, and then one on the NW200 circuit that i've found. are there any others?
and while on the subject of Brit tracks, i'm very surprised that Thruxton isn't among those we have.....considering the strong Brit presence here, i'd have thought it'd be a given..  ;D
are there any plans for it?

Support / Profile Input problem.....
August 27, 2015, 12:06:27 PM
hi all
this has happened a few times in the past, and i just have no idea why it keeps happening.
today it happened on 3 consecutive runs of the game, and it's now pissing me off to the point that i'm posting to ask about it.
my profile inputs are all set up for my gamepad, a logitech F310, and for the most part works great, except for one problem which just keeps happening over and over, and i don't know why.
i have set my rear brake to the down direction on the D-pad, which relates in the profile input as J1 Axis 2 >
the issue is that several times i load up the game, and all inputs are the unchanged, except for the rear brake, which is now defined as J1 POV 1 S.
why does this keep happening?
i don't check my profile each time i play, and don't feel that one should have to. so every now and again (as today, 3 times in a row) i start up the game, go for a warmup lap, and find (the hard way) that my back brake is no longer working.
i have to go into the profile, reassign the back brake and continue.
once in a blue moon i can handle this, but not 3 times in a row, and it does seem to be happening more frequently.
only this back brake control assignment keeps doing it, as i said - all other inputs remain unchanged as they should.
anyone experienced anything similar, or know why on earth this keeps happening?

Off Topic / Strange HD happenings....
August 27, 2015, 06:32:20 AM
this is weird.....on Sunday i was thinkung about freeing up some hard drive space on my C drive, which had ony 25GB free space.
i thought no more of it until yesterday, when i looked again and suddenly there was 125GB free space..... and i had not removed/deleted/uninstalled anything yet.
really perturbing. i can't see anything missing, nothing in recycle bin....  ???
it's normally good news to have more free space, but slightly disconcerting that i never did anything to cause this, it just happened, lol.
strange...
anyway, just thought i'd throw that out there, lol  ;D

Paints / 4 FUN SKIN: RSA250 as Schwantz RGV250
August 26, 2015, 08:01:41 PM
this one i did just for the heck of it, not a super-serious skin, and far from perfect, but it'll pass, i guess.
i used to own an RGV, to date still the most fun i ever had on two wheels, so i felt i needed one for the sim.
anyway, thought i'd share it as there don't seem to be many skins for the Aprilia, and of course it's still the only 250 we have, so....

get it here: https://www.mediafire.com/?8ll25959jlh1qba

enjoy!  8)

General Discussion / Some setup advice.....?
August 24, 2015, 03:23:47 PM
ok, guys, it was inevitable that i ask for some setup advice at some point, and i feel now is a good time, as with my current situation, the more i read up and try to adjust the settings, the more i seem to be screwing up the bike's handling.
i also need to know if maybe i am trying to get around a physics issue with a particular bike, which might negate any attempts at a good setup.
so, to the issue at hand - the track - Hockenheim 79.  the bike - SBK GSXR 1000.
my main problem is when approaching the first 'chicane' after the start, when doing around 300km/h +-, i'm on the left side of the track, leaning slightly right to get the correct entry line to the chicane (ok, it's not really a chicane, i guess, but i'm sure you know what i mean)- when i start braking, because i'm leaning slightly, i first use back brakes, and then dab the front brakes repeatedly to slow down enough. the problem is, the back end of the bike seems to want to snake about, left-right, and starts a back-end 'see-saw' motion which becomes completely uncontrollable unless i manage to slow down enough (which is generally slowing down way too much to get anywhere near a decent lap time.
it also displays this behavior if i try using back brakes only.
what settings should i be looking at adjusting to best counter this problem?
i wanted to ask this, just in case there is also some inherent physics issue with this particular bike, as opposed to/in conjunction with my crappy setup know-how.
anyone willing to give me some pointers here?
thanks in advance  ;D

PS: i would try using someone else's setup from online, but due to my connection issues, especially when there are other riders online, it's hard for me to ever get any shared setups.  :P

...first time i encountered this, earlier today, thrashing ten kinds of heck out of the SBK GSXR around Hockenheim, engine screaming bloody murder along a fast straight, pulling clutch to keep the glorious rev-concerto going, and suddenly, poof .... engine sound disappeared, and i lost all drive, brakes and steering all fully functional, but no engine, basically.
what's happened? did i blow the motor? is that actually modeled in the sim/bike? or maybe a game bug....?
anyone else experienced this?
when i return to pits, i can start again, engine sound is back and i have thrust...  8)
i seem to recall, something like this happened to me some time back while using the Aprilia 250, and i disregarded it as a one-off glitch, but now it's happened again, i figured it's worth asking about.  :)

General Discussion / About Templates...
August 22, 2015, 12:14:59 PM
hi all  8)
so, as i slowly work on different bike paints, i will no doubt build up a pretty big collection of templates, basically scratch-built, and in some cases based off available bike paint templates -
for the most part the available stuff is simply a single layer file, so a bit of a stretch to call a template, rather a basic skin would be more correct.  ;D
the stuff i end up with is usually multi-layered psd files (i use Photoshop only for image work), which might be more useful for guys to develop more skins from, a little easier than the single layer options.
my thoughts on this are divided - sure, it will be useful for many guys to easily create a new skin, but where work is borrowed from/based on the modder's original 'paint' templates, would there be any issues from their side to this?
should i rather approach each modder individually about making a new template available for his/her creation?
thought, advice, appreciated.  :)

Support / How to access/edit a Base paint scheme?
August 21, 2015, 03:06:50 PM
hi all   ;D
i didn't find any suitable info, quite possibly it's here somewhere and i missed it, lol - as per my title, there are several bikes that i'd like to get stuck into the default/base paint, and so far see no way to access it. anyone know? is it doable? or not? some trick i've missed? or what?   8)

General Discussion / Editing a bike cockpit....tools?
August 04, 2015, 07:33:28 AM
hi guys
i've been looking for any available tool that might allow me to be able to edit the onboard bike view for the RGV 500 - in essence, i simply want to be able to change the bike/tank color to match the paint.
i've been doing several paints for the bike, predominantly bright colors, yellow, white and such. the problem is when you are in onboard view, the bike(tank/fairing as seen from rider view) is always in blue.
so, my question is, what file do i need to be able to edit to change this, and are there any tools suitable/required for this task? lastly, if so, exactly where/which tools are these?
thanks in advance for any assist....  :)

Suggestions and wishlist / Cumulative Stats...
August 01, 2015, 12:09:22 PM
hi all
hope nothing like this is already around, if so i missed it - is it possible to have a sort of log for stats such as total mileage done on each bike/engine over cumulative sessions, and/or mileage per bike/track?
so, for instance, i could open this info, be it a text file, or better yet, an ingame menu, where i could compare how much overall mileage i've done at a particular circuit since day one?
and a sort of odometer, either per bike, or if you want to get even more technical, per individual engine?
just some thought i had, figured i'd throw them out there, and see what happens. sowing seeds, lol  ;D

General Discussion / ODE internal error 1...
July 20, 2015, 07:23:37 AM
hi guys
not sure if this error is a GPB thing, although i encountered it for the first time this morning while thrashing about the A1Ring track. game crashed after i did, lol, and this is the error i was faced with.
maybe PiBoSo will know more about it?
the error message header is as per thread title, and the rest of the message is as follows:
'assertion "bNormalizationResult" failed in ../ ../include\ode/odermath.h:326'

never seen this before, so just thought i'd mention it.
this was after piling the Aprilia 250 into the tirewall, lol  :P
55
very strange - been testing Hockenheimring track all afternoon with the 990, then after finishing my new skin for the GP10, i tried to change bike classes from GP1000 to GP800, and now core.exe crashes constantly.
i can't change to any other class, the instant i click on another bike class...crash!
what the heck?!  ::)

hi guys
i recently found another member who lives near me, and we were discussing the possibility of playing online together, as we both have high ping issues with most of the server sessions.
hopefully if we can join some sort of local session, we can ride together and help each other improve our skills, so i want to ask - is this feasible? and if so, how would i go about doing it?
thanks in advance for any advice :D

Tracks / Track/s request - Kyalami/Killarney/Welkom
July 16, 2015, 08:09:03 AM
hi guys
hope it's okay to ask about this here - being a south african, i'd really love to see some of our local tracks for GPB. given a few years, i might try and tackle this myself, but currently my track creating knowledge is sweet eff-all.  :P
if any modder is keen/willing to give it a go, i can try and come up with some info.
the Kyalami track is pretty well known, i think, and the Welkom track was used for several GP races (great circuit, btw)
here in Cape Town, the local track is Killarney, and if it helps, i have the track mod in one of my other racing sims - either rFactor or Race 07, can't recall just now, but will check.
if anyone is willing/able to tackle at least one of these tracks, i'd be super grateful.  8)
i do find it a bit weird that we have one of the slightly more obscure local tracks (Aldo Scribante) available, yet none of the 'bigger name' tracks...
anyway, just a suggestion at this point - would be great to see more local tracks.
thanks for reading.  8)

hi guys
this is something i've noticed since i first did a few laps around Sachsenring NC circuit, and i'm hoping someone could enlighten me - it's definitely not my imagination, lol
so i've been testing a lot with the Aprilia 250 on various tracks, and have been very happy with the bike's performance (my performance is a different matter, lol  ;D)
but this morning i downloaded the Sachsenring track, which i somehow missed before, and the bike is exhibiting some strange behavior that i've not experienced on any other track so far - it's almost as if a sparkplug is wet/misfiring, as it tries to climb through the revs, very spluttery, and i can actually see on the HUD plugin display, that the throttle display is also displaying on/off very quickly, along with the spluttering.
if i need to post up a vid showing what i mean, i can do so, if it'll help to show what i mean.
has anyone else encountered anything like this before?
i don't know what elements are all modeled in the sim, so maybe it's an atmospheric/height above sea level issue, i'm not sure. but so far, out of about 15 tracks that i've tried with the Aprilia, the problem is only apparent on the Sachsenring track.
any advice welcomed :D

hi all  :)
first post in WRS section, most of my time is spent in GPB section.
my issue is with replays - i still haven't figured out what's causing it, but every time i try to save a replay, the game crashes.
if i restart the game, and try to load the saved replay - crash again.
is this a known problem, or is it possibly due to something on my end - possibly due to me using other tracks than the stock Victoria one?
will test more, but just thought i'd check in and see if this sort of issue is known....

Support / Syncback question....
June 16, 2015, 01:31:26 PM
hi folks  :)
hope this is the right section to  ask about this - i just d/l'd the Syncback software and profile for keeping my GPB bikes up to date (if i understand it correctly to do this), had to edit it slightly as my game is not inside Program Files, but C:/Games/GPB.
got it from this thread - http://forum.piboso.com/index.php?topic=1449.msg19952#msg19952
seems to have worked - i see that some files are currently being deleted, so i hope it's doing what it should.
my main concern atm is this - can i still run the game while this is happening?
my guess is not, but thought i'd just ask first to make sure.
thanks in advance for any advice  8)

cheers
